I know, I know. You just know how some of us parents are. ;) I quickly got over any feelings of inadequacy. Midway thru the year a lightbulb  went on and bam, he was reading like he'd never had a problem. Every child seems to come into their own at their own pace. And we just love reading aloud. DS is in third grade now and we still read chapter books aloud each night. He loves the more complex stories that are just a little too difficult for him to plow thru on his own. And it's also our special cuddling time. Don't know how much longer that will last.

What you described above was the main reason I loved teaching first grade! They went from "not knowing" to "knowing" in so many ways during that year!

Enjoy that cuddling time! You and your son are blessed!:cloud9:

I forget which thread I have posted what on...I'm old like Holly's boss....but, I am having a near perfect day. We are on the Oregon coast (Lincoln City) in our new motorhome. DrHug is working over here of 3 days so I took the time off work and came with him. I have done crossword puzzles and listened to my IPod today. :goodvibes I planned on reading, but found I could not listen to the IPod and read, but I can listen and do crosswords! I just had a Corona! It is, of course, raining so no walks for me today, now that would be perfect. I think we will go to the casino tonight and make a small donation. Tomorrow I will take DrHug to work so I can have the car and go prowl around the outlet mall. There is a Coldwater Creek outlet store there....my favorite store! :thumbsup2

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes
Life is good, eh?????

Cool! Where did you get that???

Good morning everyone. Can't post much during the day, but since this thread seems to never sleep, there is always much to catch up on.

Leaving for vacation Friday . . . do I take my laptop with me, or suffer when I return??

Amy, don't forget to pack my "costume"!
(Lord knows I do need one when I swim)

As if you would ever leave your laptop behind!:lmao:

Sheesh, do we look like fools to you!!;)

Karen

Just a quick good morning. I began reading the 10 pages and then the Dis went!!! :sad2: Now it's back!:) Not for long though. So, I will read them later.
Looks lovely out today, but there has just been a snow flurry.

I love the X-Files. In fact, 10 years ago when I was cleaning out my mother's house after she passed away, I found a big note she had left pinned up over her phone that said "Don't call Terri during the X-Files"!

My favorite episode is the Men In Black one with my former governor as one of the Men In Black. I think it was the funniest and most creative show in the whole series.

Yes, I love catching up on them!!:thumbsup2

Here is the link to all of the episodes, let me know which one you are talking about.;)

The one tonight is dealing with bugs! Cockroaches no less!!:scared1:

I'm sure I won't sleep well tonight! I LOATH bugs!!

Karen

So.......I can't reply to any posts till later this morning. I don't know what you have all been chatting about. I see you have passed the 10,000 mark so well done.:thumbsup2

Not the weather for cozzie shopping yet. I'll give it a couple of weeks. We go on holiday in 4.:yay:

Karen, My kittie, Ella, and Star could be related. Ella is all black too and she has the same exact eyes that Star has. Beautiful! I'll try to get a pic up, I only have her pic in my cell right now. I'll have to take more with the camera. :flower3:

Deb,

My favorite recent picture of Star is in my cell as well. I'll try to figure out how to email or download it!!:confused3

Back to catching up, the DIS has been down since I got home around 7ish!:surfweb:

Karen

Well I have just peeled potatoes, carrots and trimmed beans!! Going to have salmon, with mash for John and brown rice for me! Low GI diet and all that!!

I've been so spoiled since I married DH. He goes fishing often and brings home fresh Salmon, Dungeness Crab, Halibut and he is a great cook as well!!:woohoo:

I have been trying to catch a break with the DIS all night, but it keeps going down on me and I have PAGES to catch up on!!:confused3

Anyhoo, Good Morning!!:hippie:

Karen

Morning Karen. Looks like you are still awake and online. I have just skim read the posts.
I forget which thread I have posted what on...I'm old like Holly's boss....but, I am having a near perfect day. We are on the Oregon coast (Lincoln City) in our new motorhome. DrHug is working over here of 3 days so I took the time off work and came with him. If ever you need a companion on your travels, just ask!!!:rotfl: Enjoy your trip.

What a space cadet I am....of course you're right! and I have added another couple....tink1963....so that makes 14. Time to PM Noel with the full list.

THANK YOU for pointing out something so obvious that I just omitted....Can you tell I don't get out much?
:scared1:

I didn't notice either doh!! We're at the bottom of the class.:teacher:

the tension! it's too much!
pirate: d'oh!

Well done!!

Oh, the fresh salmon must be lovely!! I think mostly we have farmed salmon, anything else is just so expensive. The salmon we had was just beautiful though and I cooked enough to have cold today.

Just have to tell you all - we're going on the Dec 2nd 4 night Wonder!!!:yay: It is on hold at the moment and we will pay the deposit tonight!! I wish some of you were going to be onboard though.

Oh, and I love halibut too, but it is another expensive fish here. I did have halibut at WDW last time - I think and the GFC, but not sure. It was very nice.:)
Cod seems to be the most popular 'everyday' fish here but I prefer haddock.

Love the Star kitty picture. Here's what my handsome 16 year old cat A.J. is doing right now:
AJSnoozing.jpg

He sleeps so much now that I hardly ever see his eyes. But I do remember they are amazing. They actually are different rings of color (blue, green, gold) blending into one another.

He's started doing the craziest thing. He'll sit in the middle of the floor and look down... and just sit there staring at the floor for the longest time. It's like he's trying to remember why he's there or where he's going. Can't help it but it reminds me of Holly's boss!! :rotfl:

Too cute!!:cutie:

I love kitties!!:cat:

Maybe He's just thinking DEEP THOUGHTS!!;)

Karen

I love cats too. I love the videos on you tube and the tv programmes showing videos. The cats are by far the best. Have John and me :rotfl: .

:offtopic: I just reserved my copy of the next (final :sad1: ) Harry Potter book. I got to choose one of two stickers: "Trust Snape" or "Snape is a very bad man." I chose "Trust Snape." Where do the rest of the Harry Potter fans stand on the Snape issue? Inquiring minds want to know.

I know return you to your Palo tea discussion.

Big HP fans here!!:wizard:

Yes, I would like to believe Snape is still Ok, just like I would like to believe that Dumbledore isn't really dead!!:confused3

And she better not kill off Harry or anyone else that we like!!!popcorn::

Karen

He's still alive and well in the movies. He dies in the 6th book. The movie coming out this summer is Order of the Phoenix, 5th book. I was crying when Sirius Black died too, mainly because everyone Harry loves dies. Then they take away Dumbledore? How much more can Harry take? How much more can I get wrapped up in imaginary characters? I'm hopeless.:rotfl:

I'm right there with you in the hoplessness department ;) and so is DD and DSis!! We all love the books and have read them several times and have seen the movies on every opening weekend and watch them many times over at home. DH likes the movies as well, but hasn't read the books.

I will miss it when it is all over.:sad2:

Karen

It must be 3am for you Karen!! I don't know how you manage to stay up so late.:confused3 Glad you do though!:)

I'm tempted to watch just to see if Heather Mills leg comes flying off (I know that's horrible of me) and to see the cutie Apolo Anton Ohno

We taped it as we were out late and watched it later. Apolo was as cute as I expected him to be!!;)

Watched the trailer for POTC3 about 4 times!!

Looking forward to the flick!!
