Ryan tried the chat thing and for him it didn't work. He's doesn't know the keyboard very well and it took him forever to type anything so he got frustrated and gave up. (I'm not always available to do it for him.) However, he makes friends real fast, like most kids, and I think once they get onboard and meet one another it'll all work out..........

I hope so, Lisa. Kids have been frustrated trying to follow the conversations on the yahoo site. DD would write something every day, but I need to type for her... I'm wondering if more of a DISboard type thread would work better to follow?

I'm really stressing about the kids finding enough to occupy them for all those sea days. If they don't get interested in the clubs, it will be a really LONG two weeks...for all of us...

  :faint:
This is me :happytv: watching my 10 year old Sony!

One of ours is 10 years old...the other is 13!! Kids and DH go through spurts trying to get me interested in "upgrading," but if these still work, why should we? Really, if it costs half a cruise, which would I choose???

Carolyn

 :rolleyes1 :scared1:

I may have to leave the country very quickly when Dh gets home tonight!

This is a link to one of the dresses if you'd like to see it....

I now have to go and lie down in a dark room for a while...... :rolleyes1

Love this dress...I picture you walking down the stairs in it, so glam!!!

Okay how about homework? I fully expect that we will have school work and that is going to be my big problem.

I'd seriously consider hiring a tutor on board to deal with them and that for me. & my kids are good students...it's just not my idea of a vacation where I have to ask my kids everyday, did ya do ?

Any Amateur Radio operators on this cruise? Will you be taking a radio?

Well, aphoenix posted a while back that they were bringing theirs. I don't know if my DS8 will bring his little hand held or not. I'm going to try to talk him into it. He doesn't need permission just to listen to his, does he?

Actually, we homeschool DS and haven't quite decided about DD (she'll be in first grade). I hadn't planned on schoolwork on the cruise, but I may just throw some in just in case we're all driving each other nuts in the stateroom! I really think if my kids feel comfortable around the other kids, they will enjoy whatever activity is in the club. There were SO many kids in DDs club last year, she was overwhelmed when we went to check it out.

No anyone can listen. I think you just have to have permission to transmit because you could interfere with ship and coast guard communication. I don't know about that for sure though that is just what I read. I know anyone can listen though.

I don't think you will have as many kids as a normal cruise. Although I am suprised how many are going this time just in our group.

aphoenix mentioned sending a group letter asking for permission to transmit, when we get closer to sail date. They've done this before, I understand.

Thanks for doing this. Is it possible to have the list in excel so you can send to me so I can import it into the mini-navigator? That makes it really easy for me to put in and I don't have to manually re-type everything!

Everyone's disboard name, real names, and cabin numbers will be in the back of the mini-navigator along with events and special occasions while we are on board. Please don't PM me with the birthdays and stuff yet. I have 4 cruises before this one that I do the mini-navigators on and I don't want to overload my mind trying to figure out which cruise I am working on! :surfweb:

Speaking of the mini-navigator, guess I better get working on the EB Med version for May 12, 2007! YIPPEE!

Yes, sorry, I meant to say, the list is compiled in EXCEL-my favorite!!! Remind me to email it to you after a while!

EXACTLY! We must have our priorities!:thumbsup2

Hmmm....my money-making opportunity rears its head again....pirate:

Ignore my last post...Noel will email it to you because once I'm done compiling, I will pass it on to her........(and yes, it will still be excel!)

I will be happy to send you the list as we get closer to sail date. Lisa will be compiling for a bit before she sends to me and of course, many people have only guaranteed SR's at this point.

Since I have some information because of the Private Palo Brunch/Dinner List, I will forward that list to Lisa.

Noel-it does appear most are GTY right now but at least we'll get it organized so all that will have to be done is plug in the stateroom number!

Yes, I'd like to have the palo list, that will help get things going!

This is a big project, thanks for doing it.

I have been looking for a way to make the roll call easier to view/use/undestand on the website. If you (all the thieves) are ok with it, can we also use the spreadsheet to begin a more organized roll call on the website?

I'm good with it...and the website PJ is referring to, for those of you who don't know is password protected, so it's not public! I know some folks are concerned with that.

Carolyn-I really think they'll do fine. I could be wrong but I watch my kids at church and other functions where they don't know kids (even at the park) and they usually gravitate to one child or another. I'm sure there will be enough activity on the ship....Disney knows kids, that's for sure. And they can have "playdates". On our last cruise I met a family from our DIS thread that had a boy the same age as my oldest. We all met up in the terminal and became friendly and seemed to be in the kids club at the same time...they had a playdate. It was as simple as playing on a Leapster together for an hour or two, but it was different and they had fun. We also met up at the pool several times. I wouldn't stress, children are so resilent! (This is the only child speaking!!!)

Okay how about homework? I fully expect that we will have school work and that is going to be my big problem.

I know my oldest will have homework but I figure during down time in the cabin he can tackle it.

I also find the Miami University (a.k.a. Miami of Ohio) and University of Miami confusion interesting too. I picture a high school kid getting ready to go to Miami University and then finding out it's in Ohio.

:rotfl2: And wondering where the beach is when he/she arrives! :lmao:

I also wanted to say, when you folks PM me for the DIS master list, I'm not going to respond to each one because I'm getting so many...so don't be offended, but I am getting them!!!

Maybe, ours are the only ones??!! A mom can hope...

Carolyn

I read somewhere, not sure where, that the May repo in '05 only had a 1/3 the normal amount of kids or something like that. I thought that there were so few kids they actually opened up the kids club to adults one night. I know there are a few here who cruised then...am I right about this? I think because it is 2 weeks during school most people don't want to pull their kids and the kid #'s are lower. Even though there are quite a few kids in our group already, there are even more couples going alone (or it seems that way).
