I think it's hysterical how we are all going on diets (me too) then we will promptly get on board and eat ourselves silly!!!
On our cruise last November, we had a group of DISers who walked in the morning on sea days. We had three sea days and walked from three to four miles each day.

Any walkers out there?

Woody

FYI for those who might not have seen this on the main cruise board....

Palo Price Increase

Effective 1/10/08 on the Disney Wonder and 1/12/08 on the Disney Magic, the price of dining at Palo increases to $15 per person for both the brunch and dinner. (NOTE: This increase is applicable to NEW bookings only. If you already have Palo booked, the $10 rate will be honored.)

The Palo Service Team will get $5 of this fee while $10 will go towards maintaining and enhancing the venue.

Amy and I have volunteered for lap counters in the past, although if it is too early in the morning, Amy may not be awake yet.

I would be glad to help out, lol, as long as it is deck 4, those teak chair are a must.

I know it has been a long time since I have been on the boards and you probably think we have canceled our trip. This is not so. I am afraid that I have been dealing with a pretty bad case of depression and have not been up to doing much of anything. I just wanted everyone to know that I am getting it under control and hope to be back to my old self before long. I want those that have stated interest in Fish Extenders to know that I will be starting to sew again very soon and have not forgotten them if they want one. Hopefully I can get myself to sit down at the sewing machine in the next couple of weeks.

To those on my Fish Extender committee I have not forgotten that either if it is still being done. I will try and get some information together soon.

I haven't even felt like reading the boards and after finding out all the pages I have missed I will not be trying to get caught up but will try and stay caught up from now on. If I have missed anything of importance I hope that someone will PM me and let me know.

Carol

Carol,

Welcome back!! We have really missed you and look forward to having you around again!!

Chin up and feel better!!!

I am going to post a pic of my DD with our fish extender that you made and that she decorated. I was so proud to have it on our November cruise, I just can't thank you enough for your craftiness and your willingness to share!!

We are here for you girl, just hang in there!

XO,

Karen

I'm not so great at walking...I always want to start running, but do hope to exercise on our sea days....has anyone taken any of the exercise classes? Are they any good? Do they get pretty crowded? Also, for someone with bad knees, how supportive is the walking track on deck 4? Is it similar to pavement or does it have some give to it?

The deck four is the teak decking, I don't think it had give, but still softer then pavement.

John, Skybus is coming to BUF, they will be flying to Columbus! Woo Hoo.

I've been to DL alot and WDW just once 20 years ago. So I can't really compare the two. I can tell you that I think since DL is the original, I think you should definately ride matterhorn (the line to the right, not the left it's better on the right) and It's a small world. Also, they just redid Space Mountain. My favorite ride is Big Thunder Mountain, so I always have to do that, but I did it in DLP and it was much better than DL so there you go. At California Adventure, I recommend eating at the boudin bakery. They have a soup/bread bowl...YUMMY! We always eat there. If they don't have California Screamin' (or something similiar) I'd do that. It's a roller coaster and it goes upside down. Also, on the Rapids in CA, you get wet....really wet..so be advised. As far as the parades go, the best spot IMHO is in fantasy land by the mad hatter and alice in wonderland or down on main street. The Best spot in CA for the Parade is up at the top by boudin. There's a large space up above the rapids before you enter the boardwalk area, plenty of seating and good views. I don't recommend being down by the golden gate brigde...it gets WAY too crowded there. Don't forget if your staying at the Grand or Paradise Pier, you can enter CA thru the Grand entrance, not at the front. Just bring your charge card for the hotel with you.

Hope that helps.
Steph
Steph offers good advice.

I agree, Big Thunder Mountain is better at DLP. (We had Annual Passes at DLP.)

Woody

No expert here Marilyn, but I would not miss the Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Space Mountain, and the Matterhorn. Many others are different, but I personally found these better - and there is no Matterhorn in WDW. I also enjoyed California Screamin at CA.

The one other thing at CA that I would definitely see is the Alladin show. It was awesome. If you have time, the other duplicates are fun for comparison, and I liked Nemo too, but the line was sooooo long - and no FP.

How did I do Californians?

Pretty good John!

I would add Indian Jones. It really is excellent and not in WDW.

I also like the Alladin show and also the show at the Golden Horsehoe. It is usually Billy Hill and the Hillbilly's.

Also in addition to Splash and Pirates, Haunted Mansion is different in DL.

WE LOVE Napa Rose. I posted pics last May from our trip, it was awesome as always!

We have always had good experiences at the Blue Bayou. We always go for lunch, it is a bit less expensive that way.

We also enjoy Storytellers, but prefer it for breakfast with the characters.

I'm sure I will think up more when my brain is a bit less fuzzy. I hate being sick!!

I believe Tower of Terror at DCL is also different.

Woody,

I have never done TOT at DL, Ted and I did it when it first opened in 1994 at MGM. We went on it again about 3 years ago and they changed it a lot! I didn't like it as much and will probalby not go on it again!:scared1:

Karen

my mom, she made it to work ok, Amber didn't I-4 is closed for 14 miles, there is a 50 car pile up, 3 people dead and many other accidents they can't get to. They had a controlled burn which got out of hand and with the smoke from that and the fog, there was pretty much no visibility. The pictures are awful, there is a semi on fire.

This accident was the lead story on the 11pm news in DC tonight. It must have been horrible.

yes, great job on the non-smoking Deb, keep it up! Good luck with your sleep study Monica.

Deb, Great job...keep it up!!!

Carol, so glad to see you back here! Don't worry about catching up....just jump right back in.

I haven't touched my crafts in the past year, but decorating the fish extender you made is getting me back in the crafting swing! I've nearly got all my materials together and will be ready to 'build' it soon :thumbsup2

Laptop update....DBil can't help...looks like I have to call Geeks and drop about $200. Mulling this over......

YIKES...time to go home

Carol, What you are going though is miserable. Just keep trying to get better and take your neds with great regularity.

Jackie, What is wrong with your laptop, before you spend $200....

I may be interested Woody. Not a runner, but a fast walker.

Amy will not be awake - I can vouch for this - especially on a sea day.

John, Skybus is coming to BUF, they will be flying to Columbus! Woo Hoo.

Pj

They are in Columbus, but that is a two hour drive for us. Spoiled by the airport 15 minutes away.

Indiana Jones left me bruised - too much bumpin' around! It is very similar to Dinosaur at AK.

I believe Tower of Terror at DCL is also different.

Woody

Yes, TOT is completely different at DL. No "ride" to the elevator shaft - you go up and down where you get on. Also, I do not believe it is different every time, but could be wrong on that - only rode it twice.

Love TOT. Sophia will not ride because of the spooky parts.

OK - almost bedtime!

QUESTION ON SENDING BOXES AHEAD OF TIME...

How many have you been able to send? It's just me and mom, but I was wondering with the Fish extenders, and other things going on, that I may have to send 2... Anyone ever have to send that many and have you had any problems?

What's the best way to send them? I was thinking UPS or Fed Ex where I know I can check for tracking...
There's no limit on the boxes you can send. Both UPS and FedEx are fine.

But if you are doing the DIS tag (fish extenders exchange), you will have even more to bring home. On the May '05 western PC, Mrs. Woody had to buy a DCL rolling duffel bag at Treasure Ketch to carry all the stuff. If you have to buy more luggage, do so early as the ran out!

I would be interested in doing some morning laps around the magic. Sounds like a good way to walk off some of the desserts. I wonder what the temperature would be that early in the morning?
