Did I miss Noel's report on cruising in the Walt? I can't keep up with you guys.

I bought our LAX- home tickets today. I didn't think SW had a non-stop and told DH they would not be refundable. He said 'go for it, we're going' but I keep expecting him to change his mind. Ultimately we're one step closer to cruisin the canal (tho I did end up booking SW).

There's no limit on the boxes you can send. Both UPS and FedEx are fine.

But if you are doing the DIS tag (fish extenders exchange), you will have even more to bring home. On the May '05 western PC, Mrs. Woody had to buy a DCL rolling duffel bag at Treasure Ketch to carry all the stuff. If you have to buy more luggage, do so early as the ran out!

Woody

We used the same box that we sent our Pirate stuff to the ship in to ship back all of the fish extender goodies!!

Of course, we were staying at WDW and it was easy to ship home!! We will be flying back home, so probably won't be shipping anything back home.

Karen

Woody,

I have never done TOT at DL, Ted and I did it when it first opened in 1994 at MGM. We went on it again about 3 years ago and they changed it a lot! I didn't like it as much and will probalby not go on it again!

Karen
The last time I went on Tower of Terror at DCA, we went very early with some friends. There was no line, so we went three times in a row. They wanted to go again, but I had to bail. I found my limit.

Woody

My dd and I love TOT. It's her favorite. I'm old school so BTMRR is my ride of choice.
What time are we thinking is "morning". I'm an early riser, but I need my coffee to get going. HAHA...
On the med cruise, I didn't have to treadmill or walk because we did so much walking on the excursions I didn't gain! It was the best cruise in that respect. I have a feeling with so many sea days, I'm gonna need to do those laps.

I guess I should ask how early too. You see I was more concerned with how hot or cold it shall be LOL. I was thinking the same thing about the sea days there are just so many days and so much food :scared:

On our cruise last November, we had a group of DISers who walked in the morning on sea days. We had three sea days and walked from three to four miles each day.

Any walkers out there?

I'm not so great at walking...I always want to start running, but do hope to exercise on our sea days. . .
We had a runner who walked with us during her warm up and cool down.

I may be interested Woody. Not a runner, but a fast walker.

When Mrs. Woody and I walk on weekends, our goal is a 16 minute mile pace -- the pace required for the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon.

I will join that group.
Cool.

I would be interested in doing some morning laps around the magic. Sounds like a good way to walk off some of the desserts. I wonder what the temperature would be that early in the morning?
On the Eastern in November, we walked early before it warmed up. It will be warmer in May, plus it will gradually get warmer as we sail south toward Panama.

I'm happy to let someone organize this activity if they like.

In November, it was a great way to spend time with fellow DISers and share cruise tips. We met at 7:30 outside the spa, then went to Deck 4. (We met there, and in case of foul weather, we would go to Plan B, which was to use the treadmills.) Many of us were early risers, and walked before our spouses and/or kids awoke.

The time spent walking went by quickly as we talked. Before we knew it, we had walked three to four miles. Plus, the sunrises were spectacular.

Woody

I think Small World will be closed when we are there.
NOOOOOOO!! :sad1:
Love eating at Storytellers Cafe in the Grand Calif Hotel...any meal...breakfast, lunch, dinner. .....

Yes, yes!! We love Storytellers!

I know it has been a long time since I have been on the boards and you probably think we have canceled our trip. This is not so. I am afraid that I have been dealing with a pretty bad case of depression and have not been up to doing much of anything. I just wanted everyone to know that I am getting it under control and hope to be back to my old self before long. I want those that have stated interest in Fish Extenders to know that I will be starting to sew again very soon and have not forgotten them if they want one. Hopefully I can get myself to sit down at the sewing machine in the next couple of weeks.

To those on my Fish Extender committee I have not forgotten that either if it is still being done. I will try and get some information together soon.

I haven't even felt like reading the boards and after finding out all the pages I have missed I will not be trying to get caught up but will try and stay caught up from now on. If I have missed anything of importance I hope that someone will PM me and let me know.

Carol

Carol, so glad you are able to get back on the DIS. I still have not done anything to my fish extender. I better get crackin'!!

Lats cruise we did a group picture on the secret Deck on Deck 7. We stood on the deck and the camerman stood above us on Deck 9 (or maybe 10). turned out really nice. We were all wearing matching shirts.

I like this idea. Deck 7 aft! :thumbsup2

No expert here Marilyn, but I would not miss the Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Space Mountain, and the Matterhorn. Many others are different, but I personally found these better - and there is no Matterhorn in WDW. I also enjoyed California Screamin at CA.

The one other thing at CA that I would definitely see is the Alladin show. It was awesome. If you have time, the other duplicates are fun for comparison, and I liked Nemo too, but the line was sooooo long - and no FP.

How did I do Californians?

Good job, John1. And I certainly second Aladdin! That is an amazing show. We like to sit in the front row of the balcony.

Pretty good John!

I would add Indian Jones. It really is excellent and not in WDW.

I also like the Alladin show and also the show at the Golden Horsehoe. It is usually Billy Hill and the Hillbilly's.

Also in addition to Splash and Pirates, Haunted Mansion is different in DL.

WE LOVE Napa Rose. I posted pics last May from our trip, it was awesome as always!

We have always had good experiences at the Blue Bayou. We always go for lunch, it is a bit less expensive that way.

We also enjoy Storytellers, but prefer it for breakfast with the characters.

I'm sure I will think up more when my brain is a bit less fuzzy. I hate being sick!!

Karen

Yes, Golden Horseshoe! Billy Hill and the Hillbillys are a hoot! :lmao:

I figured out what to get Wilson for Valentines Day this year. When Molly was 7 I made and gave to her a heart shaped box of Valentine's pictures from her 1st year thru 7th. I took a Heart Sees candy box and emptied the candy and made a scrapbook piece of art. I'll go take a picture and post, it's too hard to explain....

I could see Wilson the other day look at it and open it up and look at all his sister's photos and smile. I think it will be a perfect suprise of love for him :lovestruc

Off to take a pic, back soon to post them....

ok, I'm back...Granted it took me 10 hours to get back, but life got in the way of DIS again.

That is too cute!! I may have to copy that idea!!!

Thanks for posting.

It was a class, pretty quick. I'm going to try hard to get the 7 years worth of Valentines pictures ready to load it up. It has been m favorite class by far.:lovestruc

Carol... you come first... remember that. Take it from someone who also suffers from depression. I forget to do that often and find myself down and often sick. Gilda Radner had a good saying... You can't take care of anyone else unless you take care of yourself. That is the basis of the Gilda's Clubs... I think it is a good one all around... :grouphug:

You have to get them when their young...

I've created a monster!! My 6 year old niece has been to WDW 2 times and DL 3 times now she has decided for her 7th birthday she is going on a Mickey Cruise. Since we aren't cruising twice this year (that whole money/job issue ) I'm thinking of re-booking on board this cruise for 2009 for her 8th birthday!

It's the kids in my family who can tell I like Tink and Minnie... the adults can't sometimes remember I'm around... :confused3

FYI for those who might not have seen this on the main cruise board....

Palo Price Increase

Effective 1/10/08 on the Disney Wonder and 1/12/08 on the Disney Magic, the price of dining at Palo increases to $15 per person for both the brunch and dinner. (NOTE: This increase is applicable to NEW bookings only. If you already have Palo booked, the $10 rate will be honored.)

The Palo Service Team will get $5 of this fee while $10 will go towards maintaining and enhancing the venue.

I'll still tip more... waitressed in real life and appreciate everything that is done for me. I'm sure it is worth it!!!

Amy and I have volunteered for lap counters in the past, although if it is too early in the morning, Amy may not be awake yet.

I would be glad to help out, lol, as long as it is deck 4, those teak chair are a must.

Pj

Sure... PJ is going to help walk... we just have to keep her away from the ice cream place on her way!!! ;)

I'm heading to the GC after and I always end up shipping things home so I'm not so worried about that. Will pack a totes collapsible bag to carry anything I can't fit :lmao: in my luggage...

We plan to stay thru at least Tuesday, probably Wednesday, and would love to do some DL touring with you! Dennis really is very good at getting around there. Our absolute favorite time to go is that week! California Screamin' is a MUST!! Fun, fun coaster. The other rides that were mentioned also, Indiana Jones, Roger Rabbit, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Nemo Submarines. We can cover both parks throughly in 2 days - depending on the crowds on Monday. This year may be a bit different on that Monday since a ship full of cruisers will be dumped in the mix also. :scared: Fast pass strategy might be needed. I can do that! We went in July 2006, with lots of crowds and by late afternoon we had fastpasses for all the rides we wanted to do and just went riding! DSIL was :worship: as it was his first time there and he really wanted to do it ALL!

Tuesday should be a great day to be there!

That sounds great!!! John would enjoy that too.

I4 is still closed and they found another body in a crumpled Mustang. The pictures and survivors stories are horrific.

Sounds horrible - how sad.

I've been to DL alot and WDW just once 20 years ago. So I can't really compare the two. I can tell you that I think since DL is the original, I think you should definately ride matterhorn (the line to the right, not the left it's better on the right) and It's a small world. Also, they just redid Space Mountain. My favorite ride is Big Thunder Mountain, so I always have to do that, but I did it in DLP and it was much better than DL so there you go. At California Adventure, I recommend eating at the boudin bakery. They have a soup/bread bowl...YUMMY! We always eat there. If they don't have California Screamin' (or something similiar) I'd do that. It's a roller coaster and it goes upside down. Also, on the Rapids in CA, you get wet....really wet..so be advised. As far as the parades go, the best spot IMHO is in fantasy land by the mad hatter and alice in wonderland or down on main street. The Best spot in CA for the Parade is up at the top by boudin. There's a large space up above the rapids before you enter the boardwalk area, plenty of seating and good views. I don't recommend being down by the golden gate brigde...it gets WAY too crowded there. Don't forget if your staying at the Grand or Paradise Pier, you can enter CA thru the Grand entrance, not at the front. Just bring your charge card for the hotel with you.

Hope that helps.
Steph

Thank you.:thumbsup2

I think Small World will be closed when we are there.

My John will be overjoyed at that news!:lmao:

Still catching up, but wanted to cast my vote(s) here.

You need to ride the Matterhorn and Indiana Jones, as they are not at WDW. You should also ride Pirates and Haunted Mansion as they are different than WDW (Also Buzz Lightyear at California Adventure).

Love eating at Storytellers Cafe in the Grand Calif Hotel...any meal...breakfast, lunch, dinner. Also at Downtown Disney I like Catal and the Jazz Kitchen...both yummy. If you want a fine dining ($$$) experience, Napa Rose at the Grand Californian is A+. Some folks will probably suggest Blue Bayou inside DL (overlooks the Pirates ride). I didn't have a good experience either time there however.

.....back to ketchup.....

Thanks you too.:thumbsup2

If you send multiple boxes, be sure to mark them '1 of 2', '2 of 2' etc. I used UPS the last time (I think), either one is fine.

I try to only send down things I WON'T be bringing back...just because return shipping was problematical for my circumstances (going straight to MCO). Cheri (NotSoLittleMermaid) and I are DRIVING home at the end of this trip because we think we'll have so much stuff to schlep back! Which reminds me, I'd better give that chickie a call...she should be back from her Disneyland adventure...

.....more ketchup....

How is Cheri? Tell her we miss her.

So pleased to hear from you Carol. Sorry you have been through a bad time. I do understand how awful that can be.

Happy Anniversary!

Great ideas for the basker. I'm thinking of ordering one for Darrell and so far only thought of underwater disposable cmaera.

Men are so much more difficult to think of ideas for aren't they? I can't ship things over to Shirley either.

I think that you are very cute now!! Just from your pictures you have a great deal of cuteness going on!

Karen

Nice and warm I think, but just not sure how I will be on the cruise about getting up and moving early. I usually am awake, so I might have to wait and see.

Did I miss Noel's report on cruising in the Walt? I can't keep up with you guys.

Noel hasn't posted yet - she must be busy I think.

Good morning, Marilyn!

I am off to bed again... still feel like death warmed over!

Worse part is not being able to breath when I try to do anything, no matter how small! And I think the oxygen issues are messing with my blond brain! I'll get up to do something, or start across the room at work and can't remember what I'm doing! (Even worse than it usually is!):confused3

Oh well, I'll be better soon!:thumbsup2

Raining here again tonight and tomorrow, then clear for a week they say...;)

Have a great day!:hippie:

Have you been to the Dr's Karen?

Hopefully you will get them on this cruise....do they go everywhere with you or just things like the shows, etc?

Depending what we want - maybe Bingo, excursions, fire drills etc also they might share with us at meals. Like last time they shared with us at meals.

Yes, definetly, shows are the best than my home!! Total different.

Hi

What a beautiful idea:rolleyes:

These photos look great:thumbsup2 I would love to make it for my daughter:lovestruc

I remember now that I won heart of shape chocolate box and I gave it away to my friend. Maybe I ask her if she keep it or not?

However, Valantine Day on 14th, my work might sell the heart shape box!!
