We usually change because after I shower I don't like to put on clothes I've worn before. And we usuallys shower before dinner because we've been at the pool or doing something that requires a shower.

DITTO!!

Plus it gives DD and I a chance to wear all of the nice stuff that we brought with us!! :thumbsup2

Can't go home not having worn EVERYTHING!!:rolleyes1

Karen

Ok... MrsMork & DrHug...

Are you doing dueling laptops or are you sharing????

Nah... that's not enough.... I blink & it's 2 pages gone...

I wonder if when we all get on board, we won't have anything left to talk about!!!!:lmao:

2 pages...... I blink and its like 100 pages... I feel sooo over whelmed I just never know where to start or speak in....:confused3

2 pages...... I blink and its like 100 pages... I feel sooo over whelmed I just never know where to start or speak in....:confused3

Hey... Jump in... the water's warm!!!

I try to keep up, but I do believe that sometime in between I need to eat and sleep....

:surfweb:

I can't do laundry on the boat as I am allergic to laundry detergent. The left over in the machines also hurts me. So we have to pack 18nights worth of clothes each!!!:scared1:

House Party has still not responded to me. This is aggravating.

Ok now the sad new: My dad has cancer and my DM's best friend has Lukemea. :sad2: They told DM's friend there was a 90% chance of remission and she is in the early stages.
I'm sorry about your family and family friend:hug: It seems like more and more people I know keep getting cancer ...is it more common now:confused3 A young mom from my DD preschool found out right before Christmas break that she had lukemia...I think she's only 32 or something and has a 2year old girl and her son is in my DD preschool class and I know he knows things are not good back home...I think she went into the hospital for treatments overnight for weeks but she was coming home a couple of days ago. We'll see how the treatments worked soon. It's amazing what they could do nowadays but the stage of lukemia they found was pretty bad:sad2: She actually just went to the doctors because she was having problems sleeping and it turned out to be this:sad1:

DS is sensitive to detergent too...at least now there are a better selection than just dreft. He has eczema...inherited by DH family.

Just so you know.. This is me and mom...

& us over some of my favorite desserts at Citricos...

Cute pictures:goodvibes The girls must have had a blast...in the end its all worth it:thumbsup2
Well as of today I am going to the Philippines on Feb.9th and returning on Feb 28th. I will be going back sometime in late March.

Like John said I am both excited and reluctant. It can be a dangerous place but I have to believe that GE will do it's best to keep me safe, although in December someone from our office was there and a tank ran into the hotel they were staying in. It was an attempted Govt. overthrow.... She had to be evacuated to a hotel near the embassy and came home early...

I will be going with another person so there will be two of us that is a good thing.
Be safe and have fun:hug:

Disneylover-you DD just got braces? Hope she adapts soon and isn't miserable...I wonder if my DK will need braces.:confused3

2 pages...... I blink and its like 100 pages... I feel sooo over whelmed I just never know where to start or speak in....:confused3

I feel like a lurker just trying to keep up:rotfl: just jump in when you can...we all understand:dance3:

Nan, we can make the questions a blog entry on the website and then cruisers can post in the comments for you and your group of elves to look over.

Pj

perfect again pj. :woohoo:

Sorry I'm not here much these past few days, lots of work going on. I'm going to try to get some DIS time tomorrow.

So, for lanyard distribution:
  • Gydell has volunteered to distribute at Grills,
  • Kelly (me) at the 4/19 dismeet in CA & DTD 5/9/08
  • Need one person for the MCO dismeet.
This is a much easier way to distribute than the way we've seen it before with one person obligated and stuck for many, many, many hours or mailing them. We can have an onboard meet at the sailaway or scoops for later arrivals.

Does this sound like it may work for everyone?

I'm the MCOer in the Lanyard group so I can do them.

As Lisa mentioned we need one more person to handle the leftovers for on the ship. Perhaps it will be covered, I still have ~ 20 pages to read....

I think you have it all wrong, we need 2 sets of formal night clothes...One to wear at the beginning of the cruise and one to wear as we waddle off the ship at the end.:rotfl2:

Seriously, for those of you who have done this before, how do you pack for 15 days??? I presume, re-wearing of outfits and :laundy: is a requirement...

I think I posted this before... probably a year ago!!:scared1:

We had things that worked well as "separates", I have several of the "Cabi" style skirts that reverse from one print to the other (Coldwater Creek and Nordstrom carry these as well) and tops that go with them as well as with other items or pants, and we utilized the dry cleaning and laundry on board the ship. It was not terribly expensive and was well worth it for the time it saved us and the "non-interuption" of vacation time.

We DO NOT travel light and I have no problem shipping things home!!!;)

Karen

WELCOME all new DISers:jumping1:

Nice to see you back on the thread Nan. We all understand...it gets busy with everything going on:goodvibes Your up late.

Well, would love to stay up even later but need to wake up bright and early and bring DS to school in the am:eek:

Good night everyone:goodvibes

So, for lanyard distribution:
Gydell has volunteered to distribute at Grills,
Kelly (me) at the 4/19 dismeet in CA & DTD 5/9/08
Carol for the Hyatt/MCO dismeet 5/08 (post details)

The terminal and the DIS meet (and IS that 3PM in Promonade Lounge, or did I make that up?) will be good for distributing the rest of them.

Excellent!

Have we decided how we are going to pay for ours....or are we building a 'gift team' to contribute to the expense?
BTW I need ONE laynard....;)

My best guess is we'd be looking at about 15 people donating $20 each. I thought I'd read somewhere that it may have been started somewhere. If you are interested in being on a gift team PM me and lets see if we have enough people to do gift teams. Are we looking at around 400 people?????

Still 20 pages behind I think but lemme know who to send my $20 bucks to! Thanks.

We use a plastic bag on the floor of the closet and when it gets too full we move it to the suitcases under the bed and start a new bag. Sort of feels like I'm packing as we go so I don't have to do it all the last night.

DITTO!!:thumbsup2

This has always worked well for us. Our rolling duffle becomes the laundry bag and our regular pullman suitcases hold the pirate booty!!pirate:

All other excess gets shipped home in our wine shipper boxes (the ones that were full when we bring them onboard and are empty from consuming the wine!!):rolleyes1

Karen

That will work. Go see PJ when you board (at the Palo booking place, probably Diversions) and he can switch the names for you. Good idea.

We love PJ and he knows us WELL!!

I wonder if he would let us do a "Tea" in the room...

Karen

Love the pics...very nice you and your mom are such good friends too...I'm hoping my DD and I will be like that :goodvibes

Yeah, mom and I make up a good team... We like to travel together - have the same tastes and she seems to be semi patient with all the crazy ideas that I come up with...

Mom is the one who held us all together when my dad decided to have his midlife fling with someone else. She's the rock in the family.

& to that... she should be in a deck chair with her 5th book and a pina colada on the cruise...

(her first cruise AND her 76th birthday while we are onboard!!!)

That got me thinking that if you had suitcases that were slim enough to fit under the bed, you could use them like drawers. Pull them out to get the clothing and push them in to get the floorspace.

Unfortunately we have three suitcases that nest inside one another...and we'll have to give the be a lift to shove them under the bed. But today I did go out to walmart and found a hanging closet shelf organizer. It's the perfect width, velcros right on the rod and isn't too heavy (have the luggage weight thing to worry about). We tend to need more folded space than hanging. I think that will solve our problem. (I'm hoping, anyway.)

Kelly I think you and I could run circles around each other and laugh the whole time doing it!!! Love how you think and move it forward :thumbsup2

Thanks for running the ideas while I'm off the boards during the day time. Work has gotten in the way of my DIS something must be wrong in my life. :lmao:

I see Carol offered to do MCO, so that's great. I'll pass on it for me then. It's enough for me to get myself, DH and kids packed as it is.

I'll stick with making the list and it looks like between Kelly or Krisann's sources we can decide.

I like the strong ones too, I'm nervous about of the clips on he red ones liked the lime green better, they just looked sturdier.

Let's get some pricing once I have a list of how many we are talking.

Better than pming, if anyone wants to email me at nskjerven@yahoo.com to provide lanyard info, please feel free, no limit on incoming email there. That darn pm box is too small for me.

PJ, feel free to add that to the website.

I know we have talked of everyone will print their own lables/tags, but I think that might be hard for some, not everyone has printer capibilities. I'd like to suggest that we the team (miles, krissann, making memories & nskjerven) work on the printing and stuffing of lables/name cards. Making Memories and I are close in distance and I think too that our girls would love to take on a project like that with us :cool1: (that my friends was the bossy girl scout leader saying, yup my daughter and her fellow scout are up for some DIS community service)

We will have to know which cards people want of the ones PJ made for us.
I would think we can do at least two per tag (I know people will want more than one because they are so darn cute!) More on that to come. Group let's talk over this issue and figure out the plan.

As for the costs. The contributions have ranged from $20-$50, so I don't think we will need too many to share the cost on this. Let's get the quote and go from there. I would like to ask that if you are requesting more than one lanyard for yourself (one per person per family) then it would be nice to offer some money towards the costs.

We will make a call on where to send funds shortly and advise. (I suggest the person(s) that orders them get the money too)

ok, 11:30pm for me. I'm tired. Bed calling. but first....

Amy, your work travel sounds really cool. Good luck.

Tigger1221, sorry to hear of your sad news.

Lisa, yuck on the braces. I made a deal with Molly after every visit we stop at A&W for rootbeer floats. Not the best healthy suggestion, but I know it will make looking back on the braces years as not sooooo terrible. And funny thing, she makes her dad take her too in the odd case that he has to drive to the appt. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: DH just doesn't get me sometimes.

pictures were great, thanks for sharing.

HM concert didn't look as crowded as it was here. Lucky ducks!!!

Deb ALL EARS :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

ok, now bed.

:scared: Happy thoughts! Happy thoughts! ;)

I would suggest that you have as many people book tea as possible for the day that you want to do the tea. Have one person get a list printed up of all the resie numbers with the name and stateroom of each person that will use that resie number. Go immediately to RNBD and ask to speak to PJ. Explain the situation and I can assure you that if it can be done...PJ will see to it. :)

Last cruise I organized a brunch for what ended up being 30-40 people in Palo. I had the first group of 14 for the group and then everyone else who wanted to waitlist for it was on a seperate list. When the resies opened everyone tried to get resies for that day's brunch. When I got confirmation that we had the private room...the first 14 people were taken off any of the resie numbers and those were then opened up for others who wanted to join the group. PJ and Marco worked with me to get everyone matched up and he sat the rest of the group at the three tables along the window outside of the private room so we were all still close enough to visit during brunch.

Also on my first cruise before I knew anything there were 10 of us who booked brunch as a group. They sat us at one long table to the left as you enter Palo...so it can be done. ;)

We really missed Marco on our cruise in November. He is a Head Server now! Maybe he will come back to Palo for the Panama Cruise.

Karen

That was a nice thing to do.

It was kinda like the "paying it forward" thing for me...someone did something nice for me, so I did something nice in return. And they were so busy and the wait staff seemed frazzled to me. I also appreciated the fact that she noticed that my kids were well mannered and she felt compelled to comment to me about it....it was just a feel good moment all the away around!

My mom has taken me to Alvin Ailey's shows every year since i can remember...she has one show that is her favorite and she has seen multiple times. It starts with an R I think. I can't remember, I just go along.....
We enjoyed Alvin Ailey's American Dance Theatre productions, particularly his signature piece "Revelations."

Woody

OK just looked (why I don't know) but there is a catagory 8 and a 9 up for grabs on the DCL website for our cruise. If anyone was looking for a room for a friend or family. They are both GTY rooms.
