RE: Dinner at MCO - I'm staying either at the Country Inn & Suites or the Renaissance by the airport so I can do a park & fly deal and leave my car there. I get off work at 7pm then will be headed that way.....keep me informed and I should be able to meet up w/ you.

Kaylee - sorry I didn't go to Epcot on Sunday - that sleep study Friday night totally messed me up plus I woke up Sunday with a doosie of a headache. I did think of you all day (well the parts that I was awake).

Good Morning

My son forgot give me the letter from his school.

I opened it and and it said that kids are not allowing to leave for May's holiday!!

I phoned the head teacher this morning and she explained that it is from Scottish Executive states taht permission for family holidays in term time can only be granted.

In the letter mention:

1. where the family holiday is important to the wellbeing and cohesion of the family, following Serious or terminal illness, bereavement or other traumatic events.

2. Where evidence is provided by an employer that leave cannot be accommodated during school Holidays without significatn conseqences.

As the holiday falls during term time, and as your request does not comply with these circumastances, it is not possible to approve the leave.

My husband is leaving his job in March and start new job with two self employer as they are his friend, they set up a new business last year and they were so busy and don't have time off for their holiday.

Head teacher advise me to ask new job to write and explain that my husband cannot get off in Summer holiday because he is working through the summer to give two friend to have their holiday.

Oh dear why it never smooth problem. No way we cancel our holiday!! As everything had been paid for.

So I will tell my husband to see his friend and write a letter to head teacher about new job.

I feel a bit upset this morning.

But I hope it is sort out soon.

I wonder about your kids, are they allowing off school in USA?

It sounds like they are alot stricter there about school absences? Here the kids can miss 15 days before it can affect thier passing to the next grade...it has to go before the board and all. These can be either excused or unexcused absences. IMO we are the parents and should be able to make these decisions for our own children as long as we work with the teachers and let them know ahead of time that the kids will be out. The only reason we did not book this cruise instead of the August one is because the end of grade tests are being given during this cruise time. Since DS is in 3rd grade this is his first year taking them and he was so stressed about them all year I didn't want him to have to rush home from CA and take the make up tests on his own while his classmates enjoyed the end of year activities at the school. If I had known that he would breeze through the practice assessments and get the top grades on them in his grade...I wouldn't have worried about it.

Good luck getting what you need to have this easier for the kids getting out of school.

OH NO!! Surely they will be able to work this out. This will be such a great educational opportunity for your children also. Going thru and learning about the Panama Canal is a great experience plus the stops in Mexico!

We can talking without our signs and we do lipread too. Alison and I love the music, we can pick some music and some words.

But my husband cannot speak very well as he is very popular with people at home!! He often write down.

Perfect! We will have no problem communicating then!

Boy, am I having a fun day - NOT.

Since our levy did not pass, we cut bussing to state minimums for the second semester. Laid off 17 bus drivers, and all children within two miles of the school do not get bussing. This saves us $300,000 and keeps the money in the classroom.

Well, big snowstorm on the first day of this. So a bad situation became worse, and I have parents calling me at work today to complain. Probably the same parents who did not vote for the levy the last time.

I need to find a better hobby . . .

Thanks Karen, Yes I did have a great birthday. We had dinner at Chili's with my inlaws. I had the ribs. SO GOOD. Bubba gave me a beautiful Tinker Bell Pin and watch.
