Oh, we got our written confirmation today, obviously sent before we forwarded guest info through DU as it has both John and me as male!!! I presume as we have sent the info(done immediately I must add), that I don't need to do anything. It is all correct on the DCL website.

On the written confirmation we actually have a cabin!!! It is a Cat 5, and we booked a 6 and got 6GTY! Does this mean this is what we will get as it is still as a 6GTY on the website.

Room no 7116, which is at the top of the stairs I think. Anyone know what this will be like? It does look like not many cabins will be behind us. I just don't understand the difference between the Cat 6 and 5 though, but as an upgrade it is brill I think! Can just imagine getting there and it not being this one though!

Mmmm:confused3 I think this is a mistake as the confirmation number is wrong and the price a little more! Will have to email! Guess my 6 GTY will stand, which is great anyway!

Yes, please PM me with your DIS name and cabin number if you'd like a lime green Mickey head magnet!

I did send you a PM, thank you very much!!

Yes, it was raining most of the afternoon and changed to snow around 5:30 (I live in No. AZ). We got maybe an inch or two but it didn't last long. I love it when it rains--sounds weird, unless you're a Zonie. I heard once that AZ is the only place where people GO OUTSIDE when it rains! It's true!:thumbsup2

In DC today, it is supposed to get to 50 degrees!! We have 8 inches of solid brick ice in my driveway. Now, hopefully it will start melting a little. We had 20 days in a row of below average temps. We break that today and the kids go back to school.

Morning Karen ( belated good morning!):) Monring everyone :hippie:
You in bed yet?;)
I think I must be on a somewhat frenzied attempt to catch up after my sick days this weekend!
sorry for all the quotes and things folks!;)

I am so glad you are back and feeling better!! I like have someone to talk to at 5am EST......my normal get up time and I think the normal go to bed time for Karen, wife of been2marceline (you know Karen, you have a very strange last name!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: )

Hi Marilyn
Thanks for all the good wishes, I do feel a bit better today. Just ventured out to the local shop and I'm exhausted now tho ....lol....its really taken it out of me!

Your cabin thing all sounds very confusing...hope it gets sorted for you...one way or the other! I don't think we've had any written confirmation yet so will ahve to wait on that :(

Hi Karen, know what you mean as I have my own 'billion to one' little girl (not so little now as she's nearly 19 ;) ) Just makes them all the more special doesn't it?

So glad to have you back!! I see that you are busy catching up.

Yes, she is very special and we do feel very blessed to have her!

I will be toddeling off now... Up a bit late even for me, had some work to finish up before work tomorrow (oxymoron perhaps?)

Have a lovely day, rain or sun!

Karen

I get so confused with all the different time zones.....lol (mind you it doesnt take much to confuse me)

thanks for the good wishes!

Well I had read of folk getting some confirmations over there so they must be getting through them. Funny how we like it written down like that even though we can print off the computer confirmation. I was excited for a short while anyway!!!

Would be interested to know the Dis tag that you play :confused3 . The one that we played on the 11 night SC just consisted of 3 different Mickey icons (we had three going to all staterooms) with the names and stateroom numbers on the front and these were put on a door. If you got one you signed the back marked off your stateroom number and took it to one that wasn't marked off.

Carol

When we played it we did it with gifts (little treat bags). Everyone was given a Mickey magnet and as you 'tagged' the first stateroom on your list you put the magnet on their door and left the gift. The idea was as soon as you were tagged, you tagged the next person on your list, with the magnet you'd just received and the treat bag you brought. We had 20 staterooms playing and you are obligated to keep things moving...some folks got kind of anxious if a couple of days went by and they hadn't gotten tagged and just went ahead a delivered the bags. The treat bags had thing like glow sticks, postcards, pencils, pirate stuff, magnets and then some were a little more elaborate.

I am usually up to say Good Morning to our UK bunch!

Saw on sports tonight that both of our bay area teams are at spring training in AZ and it looks cold and rainy. Are you experiencing "our weather" in your neck of the woods?

Yep....yesterday was rainy all day in the North valley in Phoenix....from the look of the sky, the whole valley. I lucked out though, it rained hard while I was at early lunch, had stopped while I transported myself to the movie theater and was only sprinkling when I headed home. Just as I was deciding to stop for groceries it hit hard again, so I used that as an excuse to continue home and curl up with a good book!

yes...distag did not go as smoothly as it did my 1st cruise...i know some of our magnets got lost too!!!

i think next time i play i will simply say deliver 3+ gifts per day and not wait on magnets!!!!

On a different subject entirely.....(but about the cruise!)pirate:

Do we need to change our US currency to something else for teh differetn places on the cruise....and if so can we do that on the ship do you know, or do we need to come prepared....or does everywhere take US $???

I also need to find this out about Grand Cayman for this May I guess!:confused3

Cheers!:thanks:

So Vanessa-are you telling me I got myself into a mess by offering to make these magnets?! :lmao: Hopefully not!! That's why I'm asking for those who want one to PM me with their cabin number (it won't be on the mickey head, just their DIS name). My plan is for the boys and I to deliver them to each cabin. I figured we'd make it a fun activity AND good exercise (no elevators for this one)!!!!

no- my problem was I made it for everyone in the family and so many people were upgraded, changed cabins etc and I didn't have a good list to go by....

When I took my last cruise on Celebrity in December, I attended a Cruise Critic meeting which was sponsored by Celebrity. They actually provided us a room, light refreshments and took a group picture. Do you know if DCL will allow DIS meetings in a private room? The CM also was able to give Audrey, our organizer printing meeting notices which other CM's delivered to our staterooms the day prior to the three meeings. We were also able to organize a private lunch.

Just my experience.

I've been reading a thread on the general cruise page about what people don't like about DCL!!! I must stop reading it!:confused3 Now I might find that the food is bland, people smoke each side of the verandah, children run up and down the corridor at 6am:eek:, last night is disappointing with everything closing down, Palo's is nothing special, etc, etc, etc!!!

I don't care!!!!

How cool that you and DH met through the DIS first! I hope that happens to me too! Hmmmmm....maybe I should be looking for a DCL singles thread.

lol....it was very very cool indeed....sometimes we have to wait quite a while to meet our soul mates! (and kiss a few frogs along along the way to meet our 'prince'!;)

:rotfl: Well, it's been about 6 years since I've even had a frog to kiss! My luck's bound to change soon!

I want to be like your mom when I grow up...if I have to grow up, that is!:) God bless her for still going strong! My mom didn't live as long and her health was very poor the last several years, but she still had her spunk! In fact...she was the reason we (my sisters and I) went on our first Disney cruise.

My youngest sister (almost 10 years younger) didn't have her first (and only) child until she was almost 40. That meant that my mom's youngest grandchild was many years younger than his cousins. He came along after my mom's health had already begun to fail and she was never able to spend the time with him and do things for him like she had done for her other grandchildren. But he was the light of her life during her final years (he'd just turned 5 when she passed away).

She would often say, "You know what would be so much fun...if we (meaning my sisters and her) could all take Dylan on a Disney cruise." And we'd always agree and talk about maybe some day, when she was feeling better we could do that. Sadly, that day never came...in fact, my mom passed early in the morning the day of my nephew's 5th birthday party. The party went on as scheduled, as we all agreed that that was what my mom would have insisted on.

Fast forward about a year to spring 2004. After mom's estate was settled, we sisters decided that we should go on the cruise in Mom's memory. It was planned and it was me, my sister a couple of years younger (whose kids by now were grown), my youngest sister and her son. The reservations were made, the deposits paid and then...

my sister next younger breaks her foot! But wait...a few weeks later, I find out that my foot was broken, too! (I'd been walking around on it for about 6 weeks, wondering why it hurt so much). So 2 of us have broken feet! :scared1: We thought about canceling, but decided to go for it! :woohoo: So we switched to a handicapped room so there would be room for my wheelchair and my sister's ECV, and carried on.

We took along a picture of my mom and kept it on the little desk in the stateroom. We had a wonderful time--of course. There were some advantages to being in a party of 4, 2 of which were handicapped. We were the very first ones on the ship and among the first off at the end. We were very well taken care of by everyone. I spent A LOT of time in the spa, since the pool and swimming were out. It was the first time ever that the 3 of us sisters had done any kind of extended trip as adults, and it could be a long time before we do anything like it again.

And it all happened because my mom had a dream...and we carried it out.

This is such a touching story. :grouphug: I know your mom was with you and so happy about your decision.

Secret Mickey - Like Secret Santa...you submit names and then someone draws names and sends info out and you send secret gifts and treats to that person. I have also played it where you did it on the ship and left goodies in the fish extenders.

Laura

I am not up for sending gifts over the months, but putting in the fish extenders would work for us. We will probably try to come up with a little something to tuck in each fish extender we find also.
