Monica...I couldn't see it, but I'm technically-challenged. Anybody else see it?

Carolyn

Carolyn - from 1 technically challenged person to another -- it may very well be me.....I don't know how to post a pic! It worked for me, but probably cuz I have the pic on my computer!

If anyone can help me I'd appreciate it!

OK, sign me up for contributing the lei's for everyone...I can handle that $$ wise, if you all want boa's instead though LMK--- I'd be happy to set up a bulk order but not pay for everyone, just too much!

Count us in on the bracelets...4 for sure, I am not too familiar with the SOT site so I am not sure exactly where to sign up for things. Just let me know where to send the money...same with Fish Extenders..... - who is making them and wow - can we get different characters, etc?

Last cruise I made everyone a "name" Mickey head magnet for their door and I have absolutely no problem contributing to my fellow DIS'ers...but i vowed to never make them "personal" again it was so hard with such a large group to actually make sure they got to the right person. I ended up coming home with quite a few families goodie bags which still haunts me!

My DH and I are making the Fish Extenders and I am afraid that they are all the same when we send them out, plain except for our signature Mickey Mirrors on the bottom pocket. The idea is that each family gets to personalize their own. We are asking $25 plus $5 shipping for each one. There is a picture of one decorated on the web site as well as an article on how they came to be and what people do with them. When we get one done we will post a picture of what the ones we are sending out looks like. If you would like one be sure to PM me.

Carol

Ok, well I've decided as one of my contributions I'd like to make everyone a DIS green Mickey magnet for those who would like one. PM me with your DIS name AND cabin number. If you don't know it yet, indicate that and before sailing I'll update the list. Here's what it will look like:

So Vanessa-are you telling me I got myself into a mess by offering to make these magnets?! :lmao: Hopefully not!! That's why I'm asking for those who want one to PM me with their cabin number (it won't be on the mickey head, just their DIS name). My plan is for the boys and I to deliver them to each cabin. I figured we'd make it a fun activity AND good exercise (no elevators for this one)!!!!

Oh, I really like their SECRET MICKEY idea. It would work so much better than a game of DIS tag (which could get pretty pricy if you end up with 30 cabins playing!!). It works like secret Santa, where you have drawn a specific DISer and you give them 5 surprise gift over the course of the cruise. I like the idea of spending like $40 (or something) :scratchin on someone that you are getting to know over the next 15 month, instead of trying to come up with a whole mess of inexpensive things for tag. OR....Maybe we could do Secret Mickey for an 'adults' exchange and the kids could play tag?

Hmmmmm.....wadda ya think?

I like the idea....just let us know what you need us to do when the time comes!:thumbsup2

I thought the same. this sound like fun.

I just checked out the 2nd new website. It's nice, but I don't think I have time to keep up with all of these sites. I can't believe how addicting this has become.

I'll be out of town for the next 2 days, hopefully there won't be too much to catch up on. I have to go to Dallas, which is my least favorite place (sorry to any Texans out there.) Hopefully the weather won't be too bad. Well I better go pack and try to find some cowboy gear to wear for the next two days. I'll be back Wednesday night, don't post too much it's too hard to get caught up!

Ok - I'm back from a 2 day hiatus from the DIS (not by my choice, really).

As it turns out - we almost lost my sister after she gave birth to Sydney - it was really touch and go for a bit. Lisa is FINALLY out of ICU and into a regular Maternity ward room. I was able to take my nephew Ian to meet his new baby sister yesterday, and got to meet her myself. She is precious!

My sister is still in a lot of pain, but appears out of the woods (THANK GOD!!). Thanks to those of you who sent prayers, PD, hugs and thoughts her/my way - VERY appreciated.

I even told my sister & brother in law that you guys were saying prayers and sending good vibes her way, and even though she really doesn't understand me (and my Disney ways :rotfl2: ) she was really touched that you guys would do that for a stranger. Thank you again.

Will be in & out this week - between caring for my nephew and going to the hospital, not sure when I'll be online. I will also try to finish catching up (I'm so glad there weren't 30+ pages for me to catch up on).

I'm FREEZING here in MD - wish I was back in FL!!!

Take Care!!! God Bless!!!

Laura (Aunty Brat) -
Can you please add on page 1 here, and other website to contact me if they are interested in the plastic bracelets??

Will post options once I figure out what I think is a good idea, as well as cost to each person, but at this moment want to get an idea of who would be interested (I know there is a minimum order amount).

Thanks!
Monica

I can't help you with that one since DH and I share the Disney addiction (we met at Disneyland). And since Sept 11, 2001 we also never travel farther than we can drive without each other. I was in St. Louis on a business trip that terrible day and he was home in Oregon. Lesson we learned that week was that anything is ok if we are together, but being apart and not knowing when we could rejoin is unbearable for us. Now he goes with me if I travel for work and we have always vacationed together. :thumbsup2

Sept 11th was a bad day everywhere.....but NY and DC were the worst. My best friend's husband was working the Pentagon that day. 2 friends from church were among the dead in the Pentagon. Another friend (this is unbelieveable to me) had her husband at the Pentagon, one child in one of the World Trade Towers and another child in the other Trade Tower...all were fine.....how lucky is that!!

We'll never disappear! :goodvibes I'm glad we're not the other repo thread, though. I would have given up ages ago.

I have tried to keep up on both and I have found that this is a much more friendly thread. Maybe I will join that thread after this trip.

I like the Secret Mickey idea, too! Would be easier and more personal...

Carolyn

Would love to join in on this idea!!

Magnet would be so fun.....do we send a PM with our Sateroom # and dis name?

I also ordered a fish extender and I do not even know what I a supposed to do with it!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi All - I am caught up and working on the roll call and updates and round up.

My friend Jeannine and I were busy getting my resume all updated for a new job I am applying for. It would be a nice promotion, so we really worked on getting it all up to date and polished, etc...which is why I HATE applying for new positions...

Anyway, back in a few with all the news that's fit to print....

Dang, I like it so much more when it is not...

My mom will turn 83 on May 23rd!! She is in great shape and cruises with me sometimes.....she will not be on this cruise with me, but she is booked to go on Thanksgiving 08. It is realy cool to have a mom who is 83 and like my best friend. I feel so sorry for her because she is of totally sound mind....and all of her friends are dying....Pretty much, she only has me and my brothers now. My dad passed in 1999. She still lives in the house she raised us in....and she need to move....but because of a cold and the cold weather and snow, she has stayed at my house since Christmas Eve.

I want to be like your mom when I grow up...if I have to grow up, that is!:) God bless her for still going strong! My mom didn't live as long and her health was very poor the last several years, but she still had her spunk! In fact...she was the reason we (my sisters and I) went on our first Disney cruise.

My youngest sister (almost 10 years younger) didn't have her first (and only) child until she was almost 40. That meant that my mom's youngest grandchild was many years younger than his cousins. He came along after my mom's health had already begun to fail and she was never able to spend the time with him and do things for him like she had done for her other grandchildren. But he was the light of her life during her final years (he'd just turned 5 when she passed away).

She would often say, "You know what would be so much fun...if we (meaning my sisters and her) could all take Dylan on a Disney cruise." And we'd always agree and talk about maybe some day, when she was feeling better we could do that. Sadly, that day never came...in fact, my mom passed early in the morning the day of my nephew's 5th birthday party. The party went on as scheduled, as we all agreed that that was what my mom would have insisted on.

Fast forward about a year to spring 2004. After mom's estate was settled, we sisters decided that we should go on the cruise in Mom's memory. It was planned and it was me, my sister a couple of years younger (whose kids by now were grown), my youngest sister and her son. The reservations were made, the deposits paid and then...

my sister next younger breaks her foot! But wait...a few weeks later, I find out that my foot was broken, too! (I'd been walking around on it for about 6 weeks, wondering why it hurt so much). So 2 of us have broken feet! :scared1: We thought about canceling, but decided to go for it! :woohoo: So we switched to a handicapped room so there would be room for my wheelchair and my sister's ECV, and carried on.

We took along a picture of my mom and kept it on the little desk in the stateroom. We had a wonderful time--of course. There were some advantages to being in a party of 4, 2 of which were handicapped. We were the very first ones on the ship and among the first off at the end. We were very well taken care of by everyone. I spent A LOT of time in the spa, since the pool and swimming were out. It was the first time ever that the 3 of us sisters had done any kind of extended trip as adults, and it could be a long time before we do anything like it again.

And it all happened because my mom had a dream...and we carried it out.

has anyone decided where they are staying in CA? (if you are) how early can you book 08 hotel reservations?

I'll probably get something from Hotwire right before we go (if I decide to stay over a day or two). I've gotten rooms in the DL area many different times with Hotwire and have always been pleased.

I can't find the post where someone asked about the mini navigators. But I do remember reading that Linda (Seaulator) is the one who put them together for the last cruise. So maybe Linda wants to do it again :confused3 or whoever was asking about it can get the directions from her.

Just curious, what are these and how do they work? Thanks!

How scary! I'm glad that she is doing better!

Looks like we'll need another vote! Bands could say "Ship of Thieves" or "Stealing the Magic" on one side and "Panama Canal 5/10-5/25/08" on the other....stuff like that. Bands come in three sizes and have to be ordered in increments of 20 (i.e. if we need 122 adult sizes, we'd have to order 140) so a plan would be needed to cover the cost of the 'leftovers'. Maybe we'd want to coordinate what the bands say with what the lanyards are going to say? :confused3

Oooo, I love being coordinated! Good idea!

This sounds like a lot of fun and easier to manage!

I love spending time alone in the parks. I can shop, ride on my favorite rides and see my favorite show "Illuminiations".

I love being in DL by myself! I can chat up the people around me if I feel like talking and I never have to fit my pace to someone else's.:goodvibes

Well, we win a few and lose a few, but hey, not everyone can walk the plank, while playing bunko after tossing back a couple of DOD. And let's face it, taking over the Dumbotron is not for the faint of heart!!!

Roll call is updated with a couple of new thieves!! Welcome you survey wretches!!!

Updates, check out page 1, we had lots of additions to that!!!

Round Up

Ok, it is cold and the weather is miserable most places!!!

We have had several thieves or their immediate families quite ill lately. Let's keep the prayers and pixie dust going out to all of them! pixiedust:

Distag and Secret Mickey:

Ok, Distag is when there is some kinda magnetic mousehead that has to go from room to room to room until you are the last one on the list. Thinking that would be good for the kids

Secret Mickey - Like Secret Santa...you submit names and then someone draws names and sends info out and you send secret gifts and treats to that person. I have also played it where you did it on the ship and left goodies in the fish extenders.

Ok, that is a quick round up for tonight...

Back to the old bump and grind tomorrow...

Laura

Well, I went through their first page and they have some very helpful things even for us. Got a chocolate chip cookie recipe and read some menus! My, but they are an organised bunch.

WE are amazingly well organized to thanks to Aunty Brat and many other wonderful DISers on our thread!!

Thanks to all!!

Karen, wife of been2marceline

If no one else has claimed this....I would be willing to spearhead the campaign for those plastic glow-in-the-dark bracelets (like the Lance Armstrong ones). The DIS group from my last cruise had them, and it was great in identifying people.

What I would need is name and how many bracelets you'd want.

My DD loves those!! Count us in for 2 when you get it together!!

So hoping that all will be well for your entire family soon! I was told that I would be High risk when we had our DD, so I was given the best hospital and was told that I might have to have emergency surgery as well. I was very fortunate and all went well for all of us and I have my one in a billion daughter!! (Odds were 1 in a billion that I could have kids!) No more for us though and I am so grateful to just have one amazing little girl!!
