HAPPY BIRTHDAY NAN!

Just a picture from last weekend with John looking daft and four of our grandchildren looking nearly as bad. It is the best of the bunch though!:lmao:

Here are the twins looking only slightly better!! They can't resist acting up for the camera but they are very cute and lovely.

I am really enjoying your pictures Marilyn, and really laughing at Gydell's creations.

John, I agree.

I heard the near fist fights were with dads wanting to buy t-shirts for their kids, while this guy was wiping out Mickey's Mates.

He also scooped up all the desirable rack pins by using an empty wheelchair to block access by others. He then used pillow cases to grab everything.

Later, he and his buddies would hog up the computers in the Promenade Lounge, posting the stuff on eBay. At the time, DCL offered an unlimited internet package, and people complained they couldn't get on a computer to contact family at home. (I believe this was just before DCL offered Wi-Fi.)

This all probably fed the frenzy to get a keepsake -- and people sleeping in the Atrium just for a pin.

John - if this happened on your cruise, would you sleep in the Atrium to get a souvenir for Sophia?

If someone asked if I would spend five hours in the middle of the night trying to get a Palo reservation, I would say, No. But I did. It all looks different when you're not in the middle of it.

Woody

I would do just about anything for my kids. That being said . . . I was never the crazy "Little League Dad" when Alex was growing up, I didn't go on ebay to buy Miley Cyrus Concert tickets for Sophia - so I guess I am saying there are limits.

I think that children remember more the time you spend with them and how you spend it, rather than the money you spend and what you buy with it. There are very few things I have left from my childhood that are material things that my parents bought for me, but I sure remember the vacations we took and the fun we had. I didn't learn this overnight either, as I have done things like wait in line for the newest Nintendo game in the past. I am less inclined to behave like this now. So I guess I probably would not do it - especially if it was like the situation you described from the first repo.

John - Well said, with the insight of experience (Alex) and maturity.

Our friends who slept in the Atrium were young parents of a 9 year old daughter. Like many fanatic Disney parents, there's probably nothing they wouldn't do for their child.

As for waiting in line for the latest toy or gadget, I get a kick out of the news reports of people waiting in line for days for the Best Buy Thanksgiving sale.

We are cooking breakfast. Yes, I know it is late - Samantha has her "cooking hat" on and is helping. Haley is doing a puzzle and I am looking out the window to a gorgeous day.

Marilyn, how cute the children are and how nice they could help you celebrate the birthday! :grouphug:

I have to agree, they are all cute, though Joel the oldest boy has just about got through any cuteness he might have had!!!;)

I guess the next time he will be cute will be when he is 18 or something!!:lmao:

He has moved from cute to handsome, the others are still very cute!

We bleached the well last night (had some bacteria in the last test) so we drained it this morning. It's all good now! I will just have to take another sample in to make sure. Now looking out the window waiting for the hail, snow, rain or whatever will come today. So far it is clear this morning. Weather report last night was another few days and then our real spring should arrive.

we went and watched the sunset at the beach last night and then came home and swam. Probably hang in the pool for this afternoon.

Where is everybody today?

I'm still around, reading a trip report, cooking and eating a nice high proetin breakfast and looking for more ways to procrastinate on my taxes. You know, what's the big deal...they take about two hours? :confused3 (love Turbo Tax) Maybe I'll go iron something................

We still have a few weeks before pool time I think. I'm not anxious for the hot days to come, but I wish the pool would warm up NOW! I wonder if I can convience Peg to put the solar heater/pad back on the pool??

.

We love HA. Try Heartsrtrings. They have the same outfit in all sizes. What does your captain outfit look like?

It is somewhat of a goofy picture, but you can get the idea of the outfits -

So cute! How often do you get to see the grandkids? Lisa

Marilyn, loved all your photos!:lovestruc They are all so cute!

I am going to try to get the downstairs organized today. Clear off the dining room table to make room for all our cruise stuff. First week-end that the kids know about the trip, so first week-end I really can get into planning! I went through their captain outfits, and need to get two new ones for the oldest and second youngest. And then those other outfits I posted...For me, I think I'll wait just in case I lose a couple pounds. Otherwise, it is slightly depressing to go shopping!

I have to go pick up one son in a couple hours from a b-day party. These b-days parties will be the death of me! The oldest went golfing with a friend and his dad. Should be interesting, as he doesn't know how to golf. :scared1:

Thanks - I thought the two older ones had a bit of a goofy smile. Here is just the youngest..

He is so gorgeous. you do have beautiful children.

The four in these photos live about 40 mins drive away, so we don't see them quite as often as we would like. However we have seen them a few times these last two weeks. We babysat them last night too.

Two other grandaughters live about a 5 minute walk. We have just been round for a cup of tea, but the girls were playing out so we only saw them for a few minutes.

One grandson now lives in Northern Ireland, so I guess we won't see too much of him. We went over in January and hope to go again later.

Newest grandaughter is only 6 months old and lives a couple of hours drive away so again we don't get there too often.

I know our daughter Carolyn, who has the 4 children too, sometimes has children at different parties on the same day at different times!
