Fiorinal didn't do anything for my migraines. I take Maxalt if I need it (allows me to go to sleep) and turns my (used to be) 3 day migraine to a 1 day one. Topamax is supposed to be a preventative med that you take 1x/day. 1 big side effect tho is the double vision.....I'm sure it's not for everyone, but I kind of got freaked out the 1st day it happened and stopped taking it. *I also get double vision if I try to keep the Scopamine patch on for the entire 3 days*
Maxalt didn't help me. I think that's another one that made my heart race, can't remember, I just know it didn't work for me for one reason or another.

. . . We don't spend money on alcohol (since DH is an alcoholic!) So, that save us quite a bit.
Kelly, I think many DISers want to be considerate of your DH. Any recommended behavior when drinking in his presence? Thanks.

Is anyone not doing any "extras" - so no spa, no excursions? I am thinking about our budget and it seems just to go crazy when you add those things on...anyone walk away from a cruise with no bill at all? This one will be tough as our ship board credit doesn't even cover our tips for 6! I used points for our hyatt stay the night before, points for the hertz rent-a-car for ride home...need to pay for transport to the port, and might splurge on a limo...but then think I should just save the money and do a van. But then I really like a limo.

With the spa, I really wanted to try both the Rasul and the Spa Villa for couples. With the excursions, I wanted the kids to do the Dolphins and Sub ride. Argg...I think I would give up my spa so the kids can do the tours, but then I think do they really need those excursions? Being on the ship is going to be such a great vacation in itself.

I figure $100 per kid for souvenirs, knick-knacks, etc. $50 per kid arcade.

How does this compare to some of you guys (if you feel comfortable sharing)? Am I spending more, less, about the same? Having a big family really takes its toll on vacations...

Lisa

I had a bill for $47 in October, but I did win about $400 at bingo and had a OBC of $200. We did Palo twice, took home some photos, play some more bingo (Ok, mom played a lot of bingo, lol), paid tips. excursions in St. Thomas, and a little shopping on the ship.

We walked in planning to share that cake between the four of us, but were very happy to see the cupcakes on the menu. Cheri had the red velvet one...the sisiters...all had chocolate.
Sounds delicious!

Just as a FYI for anyone printing and signing their cruise docs. Do not print them on both sides of the paper (duplex)

They want the docs on single sided printed pages

After all of our planes, trains and automobile routines just to get there at the Cruise Terminal....I do not want to waste any time as they reprint the docs and we re-sign them again

I hope they have improved the very early morning gatehering of we non-us residents to meet with those happy customs people....where we are ensured that our faces match the passport pictures :scared1:

By the bye I took a look at that Lowepro compudaypack yesterday and it will meet our needs....has a great handle and it seems to be well balanced

I didn't have to do the 6am thing last cruise, in October 2007.

I did in December 2006, I was the last one to show up, the poor CM was at the door holding my PP, :sad2: . It was worse then when Minnie was upset with me and dNiece, all arms crossed and tapping her foot, for playing tag with Chip and Dale at the Beach club breakfast and leaving Goofy stripped to the waist. :upsidedow

LOTS of hugging and crying!

Kelly I was making a reference to Joey and Dancing with Stars? I was wondering if any of the newbies had the same kind of contract Joey. Or will be Joey be coming back?

Oh yea! DUH - I think that the show started later in the season this year, so it won't be far enough along to have anyone with us this year. But you're right maybe someone else may be there from another season.

There's NO WAY I'll remember everyone's names!
I am so used to usernames at this point...I'll probably be colling Holly, HollyTyler....!

Don't worry everyone will have their lanyards on with their real name and their screen name below.

Thanks for asking Woody. It is his job to stay sober and he is responsible for his sobriety. The rest of the world has to continue as normal - especially on a vacation. Think about it like diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol. The diabetic is responsible for what goes in their mouth. We do avoid drunk people because that is unplesant to be around, but the glass of wine with dinner, cocktails at parties that type of thing doesn't bother him a bit. That is not true for all alcoholics. Some can't even have it on the table, but it is their responsibility to take care of themselves. Because our personal stories/lives are so open with our lectures anyone can ask him anything anytime and he's happy to explain or answer questions. But as for drinking in his presence he may tell you the best wine to order! We're not wine nazi's like many educators because their are two sides to every story... and just because one person can't drink, doesn't mean that another can't. Now smoking is a little different, there is no safe tobacco. Ironically, I can tell you that DH is part of the cigar group late at night on deck 9. It's his only time that he does it on these cruises and its less about the cigar and more about having fun with the boys which he never, ever gets to do. On the last cruise we had a great group of guys who got together - hardly any drinkers, but they had a blast smoking a cigar.

The thing that has made us stand apart from other educators is that we have a very good sense of humor about a very serious subject. We can give you the best jokes you've ever heard! So, everyone drink away and enjoy yourselves. He is responsible for him.
