Does your camera take AA batteries? If so I learned that not all AA batteries are the same and some cameras are quite persnickety about their batteries.
Apparently AA batteries are actually made at different lengths. Very minimal to the naked eye, but what happens is the contacts on the AA batteries do not necessarily always make contact with the leads in the camera. This then has the camera thinking the batteries are dead or dying (depending on the amount of contact) even though they might have been just brand new out of the package.
Also, if they are rechargeable batteries (like Nimh) they will tend to lose their charge as they sit in your spare pocket waiting to get used. And as they get older they tend to hold less and less of a charge.
I'm currently in the process of changing all of my rechargeable camera batteries over from Nimh to Lithium. Lithium are supposed to hold their charge better. Howver, you do have to worry about the new rules when flying in the US about Lithium batteries in your checked luggage.
I just bought a bunch of Sanyo Eneloops rechargeable batteries, which are supposed to be quite good. I haven't opened them yet as I am saving them for the cruise. Until then I am going to run down my Nimh rechargeables till there is basically nothing left of them.
Thanks for this information. We have been using cheap batteries with the camera, and maybe that has something to do with it! I'm going to see how it goes in the next couple of weeks, and if things don't improve with regular batteries, I might have to suck it up and get a new camera. I CANNOT go on this cruise with a broken camera!!
Every now and then I have to just pinch myself. Am I really going on this cruise? Will I have a home on a ship for 15 nights??? It seems so unreal. I am like most of all of you....work so hard every day, one day leads to the next and suddenly it is Sunday night and the work week is starting over. Loving the children, loving life, but sometimes just so tired...there is something about vacation, it resets you, centers you, reminds you what life is about, what you are about.
Yes, I needed this vacation and for many days it was completely out of reach. So I pinch myself to remind myself it so within our reach...becomes just weeks away. Wow.
Me too!!! Working my butt off over here- 7 days a week, so having these TWO weeks on the cruise is just like a dream.
Aw Sandy, that's so nice of you to notice. It was strange to me when I smelled it, I wasn't repulsed by it, I actually didn't mind the smell, it was just the idea that I did indeed smell it for the first time that it surprised me. I had no clue. I can see where a never have smoked person could be offended by the smell, but being a reformed smoker, it didn't bother me one way or the other. I'm waiting for the day when it will bother me.....that will really be a surprise. At least it proves that I can smell again.....that's progress!
The weight we'll deal with when we're done with the stopping smoking issue. It will take a little longer still before I'll be ready to put this issue on auto mode and change to a new one. Focus needs to be on one at a time to make sure each one gets resolved.
Thanks for your kind sentiments.
Oh Deb, great job with quitting smoking! It's such a tough thing to do.
Thanks for the info . . . I really want to see the transit, but I am not fighting through pushy people. Maybe I will just wait in the back until after the first locks.
All this talk about people being pushy on PC day makes me so sad

We had a similar experience when we went through the canal on NCL, but it sounds like it was a lot more extreme for you guys. We went outside probably around 6:15 am, and the main deck was PACKED. So we found a spot on one of the lower decks, and DH dragged a couple of chairs down from poolside.
Of course on this cruise, I'll have such a big group, I'm anticipating a nightmare.
I feel so badly that I haven't been keeping up with the boards. I'm going to make a concerted effort to be around more in the coming weeks, but it's so tough with my work schedule lately!
The fish extenders are coming along reallly well! We finished 2 of them, and have two more to go. I'll have to take some pictures for you guys. My mom is so proud of them! The kids are really excited about the whole thing.
I don't know how many of you are packing already, but we've started! My mom already has suitcases packed for my brother and sister. I have a lot of Olivia's stuff set aside, though I haven't started packing it yet. I'm sure MY stuff will get packed on May 8th!
OK, we have swim lessons this morning, so I need to get moving, but I'll try to check back in later! Miss you guys!
