Shots Around the Ship Survey

Just a reminder, for those of you who added your names to the list for this extravaganza, I sent out an email yesterday with a link to a survey, where I am collecting opinions as to date, time and location.

Please check your inbox/spam box. Still waiting on several people to respond.

To those who did respond, I know who you are, and thank you.

I'll compile the result and send out the details in a few days.

Does your camera take AA batteries? If so I learned that not all AA batteries are the same and some cameras are quite persnickety about their batteries.

Apparently AA batteries are actually made at different lengths. Very minimal to the naked eye, but what happens is the contacts on the AA batteries do not necessarily always make contact with the leads in the camera. This then has the camera thinking the batteries are dead or dying (depending on the amount of contact) even though they might have been just brand new out of the package.

Also, if they are rechargeable batteries (like Nimh) they will tend to lose their charge as they sit in your spare pocket waiting to get used. And as they get older they tend to hold less and less of a charge.

I'm currently in the process of changing all of my rechargeable camera batteries over from Nimh to Lithium. Lithium are supposed to hold their charge better. Howver, you do have to worry about the new rules when flying in the US about Lithium batteries in your checked luggage.

I just bought a bunch of Sanyo Eneloops rechargeable batteries, which are supposed to be quite good. I haven't opened them yet as I am saving them for the cruise. Until then I am going to run down my Nimh rechargeables till there is basically nothing left of them.

Thanks for this information. We have been using cheap batteries with the camera, and maybe that has something to do with it! I'm going to see how it goes in the next couple of weeks, and if things don't improve with regular batteries, I might have to suck it up and get a new camera. I CANNOT go on this cruise with a broken camera!!

Every now and then I have to just pinch myself. Am I really going on this cruise? Will I have a home on a ship for 15 nights??? It seems so unreal. I am like most of all of you....work so hard every day, one day leads to the next and suddenly it is Sunday night and the work week is starting over. Loving the children, loving life, but sometimes just so tired...there is something about vacation, it resets you, centers you, reminds you what life is about, what you are about.

Yes, I needed this vacation and for many days it was completely out of reach. So I pinch myself to remind myself it so within our reach...becomes just weeks away. Wow.

Me too!!! Working my butt off over here- 7 days a week, so having these TWO weeks on the cruise is just like a dream.

Aw Sandy, that's so nice of you to notice. It was strange to me when I smelled it, I wasn't repulsed by it, I actually didn't mind the smell, it was just the idea that I did indeed smell it for the first time that it surprised me. I had no clue. I can see where a never have smoked person could be offended by the smell, but being a reformed smoker, it didn't bother me one way or the other. I'm waiting for the day when it will bother me.....that will really be a surprise. At least it proves that I can smell again.....that's progress!

The weight we'll deal with when we're done with the stopping smoking issue. It will take a little longer still before I'll be ready to put this issue on auto mode and change to a new one. Focus needs to be on one at a time to make sure each one gets resolved.

Thanks for your kind sentiments.

Oh Deb, great job with quitting smoking! It's such a tough thing to do.

Thanks for the info . . . I really want to see the transit, but I am not fighting through pushy people. Maybe I will just wait in the back until after the first locks.

All this talk about people being pushy on PC day makes me so sad :( We had a similar experience when we went through the canal on NCL, but it sounds like it was a lot more extreme for you guys. We went outside probably around 6:15 am, and the main deck was PACKED. So we found a spot on one of the lower decks, and DH dragged a couple of chairs down from poolside.
Of course on this cruise, I'll have such a big group, I'm anticipating a nightmare.

I feel so badly that I haven't been keeping up with the boards. I'm going to make a concerted effort to be around more in the coming weeks, but it's so tough with my work schedule lately!

The fish extenders are coming along reallly well! We finished 2 of them, and have two more to go. I'll have to take some pictures for you guys. My mom is so proud of them! The kids are really excited about the whole thing.

I don't know how many of you are packing already, but we've started! My mom already has suitcases packed for my brother and sister. I have a lot of Olivia's stuff set aside, though I haven't started packing it yet. I'm sure MY stuff will get packed on May 8th!

OK, we have swim lessons this morning, so I need to get moving, but I'll try to check back in later! Miss you guys!

We stayed last year at the Raddison and we were very surprised by all the cruisers other than Disney that were all lined up for the shuttle. We also had a rent a car so we just let budget drive us to the port, much calmer than the mess at Raddisson. It just seemed very unorganzied.

That's how we felt a couple of years ago so we will do our own transportation.

Been a week here on the westside of town. Tuesday Mom fell and sprained her ankle pretty bad. Wednesday Alex took me into urgent said I had pneumonia again and had to peal Alex off the ceiling. So they gave us drugs and sent me home to rest. Thursday night starting to worse like really scary worse. Alex said i will take you back tomorrow just keep taking the meds so they have a chance to work. While we were getting ready to take me back my mom calls and says having a heart attack. So kenzie stays home with me last night, and alex meet them at the ER. he was there until the wee hours of the morning today, but when he came home and heard me. He took me back in. The doctor said I don't have pneumonia again but a serious sinus infection and if they had a good exam they would of seem it. She was even disgusted by her fellow colleague. So we came home today with more meds. The cough syrup is working but man its every four hours on the dot. Took all my doses of antibotic don't feel much difference in the breathing ability.

Now alex is off to work, mom's at the hospital with dad and i can't leave the house. The phone are all turned back on since dad went back into the er so i am answering all incoming calls landline and cellular. So my prayers with the man above have been a little harsh these past twent four hours.

I am suppose to meet the property manager company about the renter renewing for another year. I am hoping that i will be able to travel out to LA for that by next monday. Are you guys going out?

Sorry you've been so miserably sick. Hope your mom/dad are okay. My parents will be here until this next week then headed home to Idaho.

Yes, Jamie and I are headed for our annual mother/daughter trip next week (which is the only free time she has). It is her 16th birthday in April, so we are celebrating our annual trip a little early this year. She doesn't know where we are going or what we are doing. I told her to pack summer clothes and a dress and a swimsuit. I bought "premium" tickets for Wicked Friday night in L.A. She has wanted to see it for a long time. I also bought the backstage tour passes at 6 p.m., so we will do the behind the scenes tour before the show. Seats are row J, orchestra, right in the middle! We fly into Long Beach leaving here Friday at 11 a.m. I think, and then fly back Monday at noon from Long Beach I think.

I haven't made hotel reservations yet, thought I might bid on Priceline and I had an offer to go stay Friday night in Ventura with disboard friends (just don't know if I want to drive from LA to Ventura that late at night), so I'm undecided at this point.

We have our annual passes to DL, just not sure what Jamie will want to do and since she likes the motion sickness rides and I don't, well, we will see what happens! In any case, I know we will hit DL at least one day!

Okay, going to put a breakfast bread in the oven so my mom thinks I cook around here.....

BTW I think I found part of Amelia Airheart's aircraft when I redid our media center.

Yep, looks like they are taking the deck chairs and putting them on a verandah for a DIS party.

:thumbsup2

I think that is what "they" did for the deck 7, handicapped aft stateroom........but I could be wrong ;)

I wonder if the CMs say anything while you are running away with chairs? :rotfl:

I kinda get from looking at a couple of the pictures, that it might have happened in the middle of the night when everyone else might have been in bed sleeping? :confused3

That's not to say that they didn't run into one of the ship's officers between deck 10 and deck 7 though, but you would have to ask someone who is in the picture. Now, to find that person...................:scared1:

Packed in like sardines ... no room to even move!! :dance3:

One of my best memories ... when I was sure there was not even room for a child to squeeze their way thru ... along comes MUSHU (big, red with some LARGE feet) and he just pushed/stepped/squished his way right thru the masses ... and it was hilarious fun (at least to me). Another bit of Disney Magic :wizard:

Cannot explain why that was so fun/cool, but it really was ... the way a path just seemed to open for MUSHU. :rotfl:

:tinker: Karen

Yep, all DCL had to do was send them out and people moved so fast it was like the parting of the seas! They even showed up on deck 4. I think I have pictures with Mushu on deck 10 and Goofy, Donald and Max on Deck 4.

Gydell, just seen a bit on the news about the 6 miles of destruction in Atlanta. amazing nobody was killed. Seems 2 were killed in another storm in NW Georgia though!

I guess I just assumed that in the South, like Florida, most homes were built without basements. Should have thought it has more to do with the soil and water table probably . . . Stay safe regardless.
no basements here....
Hey V, BTW . . . I went by the post quickly, but, you do know that our Geek group has transportation from the ship to the hotel - right? I think you posted about taking the shuttle to the hotel - did you mean the airport?
yes, to the airport.

Wow deposits and cancellations five days out!

you guys have been spoiled....this is the policy at WDW for quite a while now!

Ok so I now have a plan to print out a copy of the master list and take it with me. On my gifting days I will go to each deck and check the white board to look for any changes then I will head on my way to the rooms listed checking them off as I go along. I will do this deck by deck and that is my plan! :flower3:
The changes won't stay up the entire time (have to make room for new announcements). They will stay up for 2 or 3 days, so make a note in your mini-navigator of the changes during that time frame. It's is unlikely that we will have changes after the first day. If there is a change later due to something unexpected, that will of course stay up longer.

With all this talk of 10 Forward (Gee I wonder if we'll meet Whoopi?) and the mean and pushy people that can occur there, it got me to thinking.

There are an awful lot of us as a "group". We could "intimidate" a few others quite easily. If we all organize ourselves, I'm sure we could all be quite accomodating for each other quite easily.

"Ok kids in the front and arrnged from shortest to tallest." I'm 6' and I don't mind standing behind someone shorter, but usually my concern is watching out for my kids - they are both quite shy and won't stand up for themselves and will not speak up when someone invades their space or pushes them out of the way. So that is why I usually try and make myself bigger than normal.

But if we were to get together and put some sort of organization in place .... well we could control 10 Forward! LOL ;)

Karen, hope you are feelling better soon!

Anyone have any idea what night will be grown-ups night at the Oceaneer Lab? I know they had one on the last cruise. I know that's one activity I'll do for sure.

.

This 'event' is high on my list too!

Replied this morning!

Doug.

:lmao: we need to remember the rest of the 'rule': i before e, except after c or when sounded like 'a' as in neighbor and weigh.

WOODY, guess what I had a Sassi last night? Yep, the sausage...it was as wonderful as I remembered it (and I saved a few bites to bring home and have with my egg this morning). I can't believe I didn't try something new, but it just kept calling to me. We did a lot of tasting of each other's dishes, so I did get to sample many things. One of the best was Peg's pork stuffed tortolini...oh yum. Also had wood roasted asparagus with poached egg...oh yum again. Pana cotta for desert...with blood oranges and pomagranate sauce, sprinkled with little 'kisses' of baked meringue. Man, I love this restaurant!

Movie day today...we'll be seeing Mrs Pettigrew, then might do a drive through the desert, before all the spring flowers dissappear, if the rain holds off.

Hope everyone at the DIS meet this morning is having a blast. Please report in when you are back from having too much fun without the rest of us! :sad1:
