The National Enquirer was the first outlet to report the tragic news, claiming the 55-year-old actor's condition was so severe, he had only five weeks to live.

However, according to the statement from the rep, Swayze's condition may not be as dire as what was initially reported.

According to the statement, Swayze's physician Dr. George Fisher said, "Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic."

...But sources close to the actor/dancer insist the story is far from true, and Swayze is at work on a new movie in Los Angeles

Looks like the National Enquirer has done it again. More celeb misinformation.

Hey all - just thought I'd post a picture of the elusive Castaway Cay big fig. Consensus on another thread seems to be that it was delivered via Castaway Cay mail service - you know - the one that take 2-3 months to deliver a postcard. Goes to figure that a big item like this would take a whole whopping 8 MONTHS! :scared1:

Anyway, if anyone likes it - please be advised that supposedly this is only available in CC so if you want one - make sure you don't have any plans for the next 5-8 months. A friend got hers 3 months ago. But then again - she is in GA! Guess the other side of the continent just takes longer! :rotfl2: ;)

Whole Figurine (be aware - the figurines are NOT glued in - they are just placed on top)

And just so you know what I meant by not being glued in - here's the base alone:

That's SO CUTE! :goodvibes

Hey everybody! LONG day today, after taking Tyler to school on the west side of town, then me going to work way in the east, I left work an hour and a half later to pick him up from school to head to his sensory evaluation with the occupational therapist on the south side of town, then back to take him to school, then me to work way on the other side of town for an hour, then back to pick him up from school, then karate and dropped him at his dad's where I spent about a 1/2 hour filling dad & stepmom in on all the details of his eval. BUSY! Then I got home and a friend stopped for a short visit and now I'm STARVING for dinner but wanted to read a few pages here first. :thumbsup2

GREAT news is that I think we're finally on the right track with some of Tyler's issues. The evaluation continues next Wednesday, but the OT already says she sees major sensory issues and gave me an idea of some of the accommodations she thinks she'll recommend for the school and also at home exercises, plus OT every week with her and twice a week at school. I won't bore everybody with the details, but she feels ALL of the problems stem from some sort of sensory processing disorder, she just now has to figure out which type and come up with her plan for treatment (but will still evaluate him further next week before doing her report & recommendations). His dad, stepmom and I are so excited now! We really seem to be on the right path finally!

Holly - that is such GREAT news! Thank God!

Wow, that was one busy day! But sounds like it was so worth the running around:hug: Glad you're finally getting some answers and more importantly, some solutions. So glad for both you and Tyler:hug:

Only 24 more pages to catch up on! But I have to go get some dinner or I'll start gnawing on my computer cord. :rotfl:

Holly - that is such GREAT news! Thank God!
I know! And here's another great part....the occupational therapist told me Tyler's school district is the ONLY one she's ever seen cooperate fully with recommendations for special accommodations for kids (without major battles). In fact, they've been doing great about being proactive, so he's a lucky kid!

I was just reading some of the latest news reports too, good news, doesn't sound like it's quite as bad as first "reported" .

Thanks! He's happy too because he enjoyed the activities she did with him and she was very reassuring when she took the time to explain to him that she has ideas of ways to help him have an easier time at school. He didn't say anything, but he just looked so relieved. I could see it on his face and he gave her a hug when we left. :goodvibes

I slept this afternoon, but DM just told me about Patrick. Wow, we both really liked his work, and he just seemed really down to earth, none of that hollywood stuff from him.

pj

Pj,
Hope you're feeling a little better after your nap.

wow did you read about the Auburn Freshman who was shot and killed?

Her body was dumped on College Street(for those of you that don't know Auburn that is the main street that goes throught town, there are only about 6 streets in the entire town). She had been shot. She was alive when found but died in the hospital. Entering that hospital is taking your life in your own hands, It is very backwards. Her car was found in a parking lot on fire. They are keeping very closed mouth about it. She is from Marietta, Ga the neighborhood next to ours. I'm getting info from here and from Auburn.

Hey... stop watching TCM... you'll be overpacking with too many tuxes!!! (just think Cary Grant and what would he have worn...) As a matter of fact... watch Affair to Remember and take notes...

I had not wanted to do formal attire at all, and at first contemplated just eating at the buffet that night. I think I've really thrown myself into this, once I decided I was going to do tails.

I will be doing Cary Grant in "Bringing Up Baby" when I am wearing the tails, and Cary Grant in "Philadelphia Story" when I wear the white dinner jacket.

Just ignore the New York/Chicago accent.

Hello Friends,

It has been a long and trying couple of days. We were back on the ballot for our school levy, and despite getting more votes out than in the six previous losses, the no voters got out more. It is disappointing, and depressing, and I really wonder about my community. We lost by about 1,000 votes out of over 20,000 cast. Parents and teachers worked our rear ends off, and spent thousands of dollars in this effort all for nothing.

The really horrible thing is watching the attack of the no voters in our community, spreading misinformation and lies. You can read the story here, and then read the many nasty comments below:

I posted this comment in response tonight:

No nasty comments here. You reap what you sow. For all of you who think you have sent some kind of message to Columbus - think again. They could care less. When attacking teachers and the people who care for our children in our community becomes sport, it is indeed a sad day. I doubt that any of you have taken the time to meet these people, to know them, and to show them the care, respect, and love they give to children every day. It is not just your fault, but the fault of every person who puts so little value on education that it is the last thing funded, and not the first. You have not voted negatively on things that affect your well-being, and the services that aid you, and yet you would vote this way when those who have no voice in their future pay the price. My parents taught me differently. They taught me to respect and value teachers and not to insult them. They taught me children come first and it is the duty of each succeeding generation to sacrifice if they must for the future. We will lose good teachers. We will lose what it took generations to create, and the loss will come more quickly than the time it will ever take to regain that loss. I am sad, and I am ashamed - and the negative comments here show the real heart and priorities of many of you.

Hope you are all doing well - I'm having a hard time focusing on a fun vacation when Sophia and kids like her are losing more educational opportunities.

Just as long as you don't expect me to pull the Katherine Hepburn roll in "Baby..." I'd hate to kill a really good dress... :rotfl:

Good reply! It's a shame that so many parents today don't take the time to know what is most important to their kids.

Woody, you might want to look into the July/August programs on the weekend at the starlight bowl here in burbank. Same fun atmosphere as the HB, but less people and a grass area you can spread a blanket out upon if you want to. Lots of good muisc and food too.
Thanks, Steve. We have some friends in Burbank, and that would make for a lovely evening.

Woody

Okay, so I'm back and I left on page 58 and came back at 181. Don't think I'll be able to read since I'm swamped at work doing month end and in the middle of all the $$$ coming in for the cookie sale this month.

I've got answers and I'll have to post later, but all is well in the world and my little mini cruise was wonderful.

I'll try to get work caught up so I can post some more later.

If I missed anything, let me know what I missed!
Welcome back Linda! Glad you enjoyed your cruise! :goodvibes
