Heard from the first school, we are in the wait pool. No surprise - there were 11 spots for 135 applicants - it was the school I was teaching at this morning. Wait pool means she was accepted, but there are no spots available for her unless someone else drops out or says no. I don't expect any slots to open. We'll hear from the next school within a couple of weeks, then we are on plan B.

We waitlisted alot too, but here's the sad part...I referred a family to our school and they were "no matched" I am on a non profit board with the dad..can we say akward:scared1:
:yay: We're in Stateroom 8050, we have 2 kids (DS 12 yrs and DD 10 yrs) This is our 5th Disney Cruise! We're from Pittsburgh, PA!!! GO STEELERS!
Welcome!

And Steph our OTHER sister too :lmao: :lmao:
Aww.....thanks for the love:love:

Bad MIL week. She was set to leave for Betty Ford today, but blew it and ended up elsewhere (yes you can read between the lines)

Paul is home and sick, so not helping with the kids.

I've got a headache...

Other than that, I'm good :lmao:

Seriously the tulips are in full bloom, I'll get some pics to post tommorrow.
It's been tough..just remember 2 more months....

FYI -- For those of you going to the DIS meet on April 19 at 4:00 at Disneyland Resort, Elton John will be in concert that night at the nearby Honda Center (formerly the Anaheim Pond).

This is part of Sir Elton's "Rocket Man, Number Ones" tour, in support of his latest album of the same name. It has hits that reached No. 1 on the charts (such as Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Bennie & the Jets, Daniel, Crocodile Rock, Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me).

It's Sir Elton's only Southern California concert. Tickets went on sale today.

Woody
I would love to go see elton john!

Hey all - just thought I'd post a picture of the elusive Castaway Cay big fig. Consensus on another thread seems to be that it was delivered via Castaway Cay mail service - you know - the one that take 2-3 months to deliver a postcard. Goes to figure that a big item like this would take a whole whopping 8 MONTHS! :scared1:

Anyway, if anyone likes it - please be advised that supposedly this is only available in CC so if you want one - make sure you don't have any plans for the next 5-8 months. A friend got hers 3 months ago. But then again - she is in GA! Guess the other side of the continent just takes longer! :rotfl2: ;)

Whole Figurine (be aware - the figurines are NOT glued in - they are just placed on top)

Close-up of Pluto's Frisbee:

And just so you know what I meant by not being glued in - here's the base alone:

Thats cool...where's it going?

Wow! I love it! How big is it? And do you mind me asking how much? I've collected the snowglobes for 10 years (with 200+) now but I've started switching to the big figs!! Thanks!! And it could arrive just in time for Christmas!! What a wonderful present, since I'm sure I would forget between now and then!!:rotfl:

Good luck!! We just heard today that the school my daughters go to actually doesn't even have enough room at the kindergarten level for all the siblings of current students! I can't believe how crazy schools are getting anymore!!! Best of luck to you!!!!

This could work...

How do you see it? I'm thinking a 45-60 min. "study hall" type thing--kids bring their assignments, I supervise, answer questions, help them, etc. How many times/sessions do you think we'd need to do this?

Anyone else interested?

3 times would be great!

1 time would work for my boys, but they might meet for 3 to see their friends!
Lisa

I was thinking we should do it first thing in the morning, after they eat breakfast, like 8 a.m., + or -, on sea days of course, maybe the first Tues., Thurs. & Sat. (get the homework over with!).

Just to make sure we're on the same page with this, I'm talking about supervising the kids and helping them complete assignments they've been given by their teachers to do on the cruise. Is this what you're thinking? If not, let me know what you thought it would be.:teacher:

the 3 times you at the spa???

That would be my choice...

I know... be nice or I'm going to get assigned to study hall!!! :)
:teacher: A rap on the knuckles for YOU, young lady!

I think that challenging the kids to develop independent study skills by expecting them to monitor their own work would be in their own best interest, don't you??? I would be getting a massage for THEIR benefit, not mine!;)

Thanks Deb.. Just a weird place for me be. I just don't understand how this works for it to control someone's life the way it does.

 Nan, call anytime!

Looks great. Glad you finally got it. I'm not even going to think how long it would take to get it into another country! I keep toying with the idea of the Star Wars big figs but I have no where to put them and I have no idea how to get them home until I drive to DL next time.

yes that was my thought too. Mine will get some kind of homework assignment from their teachers. I hope it will be inclusive and not require us to do outside research or get supplies or resources, but I just don't know yet. What I would look for is another adult asking my kids to show that they are working on their assignment. My kids can do it, but they complain terribly when I ask them to do it. If the request came from another adult and within a group of peers I think they will gleefully do the work.

And of course the spa is for their benefit, I will enjoy mine while you are riding them, so that they don't have a mama crabby at them, or yelling as Wilson tells me I do all the time.:lmao:

Hi there - another opportunity to post pictures! Yeah - I'm giddy - anyway, at the widest point which is Goofy holding an umbrella and the beach ball - it is about 18 8nches wide. The base is about 17 inches wide. Mickey, Minnie and Pluto are about 11 inches tall or just over a size 9 in women's shoes. Don't ask - I was looking for a ruler and couldn't find it - the closest I had was DD's shoe and she wears a size 9. Then DH came up with this tape measure. Close-ups probably throw off the distortion but at least you can see.

Goofy at widest point:

P3030123-1.jpg

And Minnie - about 10 inches:

Close-up of Goofy - hard to see but its 16 inches:

Mickey on base - about 11 inches:

And can't leave off Pluto:

P3030121-1.jpg

Hope this helps - it is a bit heavy so if you order it - don't drop it! I was lifting my other big fig when I was vacuuming and I grabbed it by Goofy's nose - broke off the tip but thank goodness for superglue - looks like nothing ever happened to it!

Unfortunately, they will not let you carry them out. All Big Figs are shipped - hence no getting out of the shipping charge. :sad2: I tried desparately to get out of it - by saying I'd carry it off the ship or CC but no go. They only ship. So that can be a plus or a minus depending on how you want to look at it. It is a nice piece though. I'm not a huge Star Wars fan but got to admit - that light saber really gets me going!

"Yelling"=kids' favorite way to describe an adult talking to them!:rotfl:

Hi all!! :yay:

I have been seriously MIA. Life has been crazy busy and way to much to even write right now ... but ... I miss you all!!! :goodvibes

I am 235 pages behind (no kidding ... 55pages from #5 and 180pages from #6) UGH!! I have ALOT of SERIOUS catching up to do. :dance3:

Hope everyone is well. Are we all at least out of the lifeboats?!?!? :confused3

Can someone give me a brief overview of the past 8 days :rolleyes1

Here I go ... :surfweb:

Hi again!

I was gone last week so I missed over 130 pages! I don't think I'll be able to catch up....so if I missed anything let me know! Hope everyone's doing well!!! And we're still in the lifeboats! Did anyone get out of them yet? Keep me posted!!!

I haven't heard of anyone getting assigned for a few weeks.:sad2:

A few months ago, I might have considered an offer. Now, having talked with all of you and sweated the FISH episode together, I wouldn't consider an offer at all. We are so looking forward to this trip!!!!

Exactly my thoughts.

It was very surreal. My BIL was late for a meeting that day...the meeting was on the 88th floor of one of the towers. He's always on time, to an annoying point. He made tea before leaving, the milk curdled. For some reason he opted to be late and remake it (so out of character). The second plane hit as he got off the subway which was at the base of one of the towers...he was 15 minutes late. He looked up and at the moment of impact he said it was awful. Explosion, papers flying and other horrific details that can be left behind. He took off running for eleven blocks before he stopped to look back. In the end, everyone at his meeting was gone, along with a huge portion of the employees at his company. He had surviors guilt and was majorly promoted shortly afterwards, due to all the loss. He ended up going to counseling for about a year. Bottom line, the curdled milk saved his life....

Wow.

:yay: We're in Stateroom 8050, we have 2 kids (DS 12 yrs and DD 10 yrs) This is our 5th Disney Cruise! We're from Pittsburgh, PA!!! GO STEELERS!

Hi and welcome.

On a completely different note - I had 14 new users register their Mouse Manager today! What was especially odd was that 12 of them were from the UK.

You were mentioned on a UK Disney site the other day so could be folk from there - and me of course!!!

Duuuuuude, every good DISer knows that you wear lime green crocs with your tux!

Oh yes!!:woohoo:

Bethlehem?

:lmao:

Marilyn, going to Club 33.......nobody deserves it more than you. I,m sure it will be a charming experience for both you and John. I'm happy for you!

I don't know about deserving it Deb, but I'm very grateful and it is something else nice to look forward to after the cruise.

That is great!!!! Have fun, we'll be below waiting for the toss of the rolls.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Well all...

I have to hit the hay...

Pain level this week has been uncontrolable without serious meds... & I hate to have to stop driving the heavy equipment when I'm on them... ;)

Night all...

Especially... Maj...(your majesty...)

Sorry to hear you are in so much pain.

I wonder if people who booked several rooms are getting assigned before people who booked one cabin only? :confused3

Could be?
