I think during that era everyone had a "coach" for driver's ed - it's like they all studied it in college. I can hear the interview - "SO Coach, what did you study in College?" "Well Jim, I majored in Phys Ed (PE) and minored in Driver's Education."

Yep, our Drivers Ed was taught by coaches. Jr. High coach also taught (and I use the word lightly) Civics. His method...we went around the room reading the book aloud to each other, then we had a test at the end of each chapter. :sad2:

I want to send a big THANK YOU again to whomever it was that posted (in #2 or #3) the Deck Four picture. I would repost it ... but I don't know how!! :rotfl:

Karen

You're welcome! It might be time to snatch another one from the photos thread soon...perhaps a CC one on the 11th to note where we will be two months later!

I need a sunny day and a good phone call from the right person to tell me when I'm traveling and then the world will be better.

Thanks for the rant...

Here's wishing you a sunny day, a bag of Smarties and the phone call! :grouphug:

Are we having a get together onboard on embarkation day?

3PM (or even 2:30 if you always arrive early like me) Promonade Lounge. It's a good location for disburshing remaining navigators, laynards etc. and we have our own bartender.:thumbsup2 Also, if there are any of us who didn't get a room # till boarding day (!), or got last minute upgrades, it would be a good opportunity to check in and share that number with us.

Well, time to start another day...and get in some more overtime!:cool1:

...check in with you at lunch...

.

Thank you.

Carol, to take advantage of the OBC and discount for rebooking onboard, many cruisers who are unsure of when they will next cruise, will book a dummy date, that they fully know they will be moving when their plans firm up. As long as you make that change more then 90 days in advance you lose nothing and keep the OBC and discount on the new date.

I did something similar with DVC, I called member services within 3 days of my last cruise and let them know that I would be cruising, next time on points, but that the dates had not opened, and they made a note on my file that I will be booking via DVC and I will get the rebooking points discount, which ranged from 15% on a cat 11 to 12% on a cat 8/cat 6, when the dates we want open.

Thanks PJ, it sounded like a good deal but I couldn't figure out how it worked. May take advantage of it this trip. How often can you change the reservation?

We have two dogs, 5 cats and two fish. Thank goodness we also have and have had nieces and nephews across the street who are willing to come and stay at the house for $10 a day.

Hi Carol - good morning!

You can change your res as many times as you want to, just keep an eye on when the final pymnt date is for each (so that you move it prior to that date). I'm thinking of doing 2 things....1 booking another res for the 9/12/09 7 night on board (even tho I have a res w/ DU) and then getting them to take it over and give me the room I have now....and 2 booking a dummy res for as far out as I can - cuz I want to move it to the new ship.

I don't know if you have to pay the deposit.....or if it is like when you call DCL and you have 3-5 days for paying deposit???? Can anyone help here??

Hearing about Molly's knee issues (and the others too) makes me cringe :scared1:

I had a skiing accident in January of 1988....had my 1st surgery November 1988....2nd surgery in 1998....and still facing a 3rd one (have been putting that off as long as possible). First 2 were orthoscopic and outpatient.

I don't know the technical term (s) for what I did....best way to describe it is that my kneecap doesn't stay in it's place....it's pulled to the side. My knee will every once in a while decide it doesn't want to work....so I can be in the middle of a step and then on the ground. (I plan to use this as an excuse on board after a night of drinking too much :lmao: :rotfl: ).

The 3rd surgery (as explained to me in the 1999) is supposed to involve 2 nights in the hospital, moving bone (yeah), 6 weeks (min) on crutches, then another 6 weeks (min) recovery time....can you see why I don't want to do it??? :confused3

I was thinking Nan (ok, don't laugh at that comment) - how about if you wrap her knee with an ace bandage? Maybe that would help.

I don't think I remembered about this.....will have to write it down. Will have to check out Pjs calendar too.

Bracelets are going to be handed out (if we can find you) at the terminal (if you don't already have them from the other hand out locations). Remainder ones can be distributed then.

You do have to pay the deposit while on board in order to lock in the ressie, obc, and discount.

I couldn't remember about the 1st onboard meet either, but it is a good plan!!! Monica, I can't remember how much we owe you for the bracelets either?

Added the Promonade Lounge meet to the calendar, that is one busy day :rotfl: .

Good Morning Monica.....when you book on board, you have to pay the deposit at time of booking. I always try to book onboard and then move over to TA, but lately I've been booking with DU because I don't want to wait until I get back onboard to book.

Booking onboard for the one that's the furtherst out that you can get for the new ships is a smashing idea. Now why didn't I think of that. I'll have to keep it in mind and see if I can do the deposit onboard.....then I'll just keep moving it out a year until the new ships get here. Great idea, Monica. Thanks.

I have to concur that no visit to Los Angeles in the summer is complete without a night at the Hollywood Bowl or for smaller crowds but same atmosphere, a concert on a Saturday night at the Starlight Bowl here in Burbank.

I hope everyone had a great day and yes the boys and I are still waiting in the lifeboat.

I have to say that I'm kind of partial to our Santa Barbara Bowl. Some of the best concerts I've seen have been there.

Good Morning Cruisers.....I love saying that.....I just booked my last thing......the car service from home to the airport to depart. I said I wanted to book it for May 8th and the lady on the phone said, March 8th, I said no....May! I wanted to tell her that she was lucky I didn't call last Nov. when I made the flight ressies.....at least I waited until 2 months out.

That was the absolute last thing that I needed to do for this trip. I'm so ready now. Car service is picking us up in a town car sedan at 5:00 am on Thurs. May 8th. Our flight was leaving at 8:00am, but changed to 7:45am instead. The airline told me to be there 2 hours in advance of the flight. I gave us 45 minutes of drive time to do a 30 minute run.....that makes it 5:00am, like I would be able to sleep anyway, I'm so excited already and still have two months to wait. On the morning of I won't sleep that whole night before. I always sleep late and wake up early onboard. I just don't want to miss anything......and I spend most of the late and early hours sitting on my verandah......just loving being where I am.

65 days!

Whoo hoo!

John is closing tonight, so another girls night in.
I am going to try and get some laundry done, go through the girls clothes eyt again and get rid of the too small stuff. I am not sure what else we have left to do besides pack, I have the one way rental to Orlando, need to get Tebow's reservations in...he's going to the vet on Saturday for a checkup so I will ask them then.

It's a wet and windy nasty rain here. I was supposed to take Ray to the mausoleum, but decided not to. I don't want to be on the road that much in this weather. We'll take him over the weekend.

Next Wed. I have to take Ray to the doctor, so we won't be able to do the mausoleum then either so we have to take him this weekend.

it was rainy here in the early evening, lots of car accidents on my way home. My usual 6 minute drive was over 1/2 an hour due to traffic delays!

Not sure what it's like out now..no window for me!

Is anyone booking Supershuttle from the port to DL? If so what time are you asking to be picked up for?

Other than that anyone booked a taxi/limo etc?
