Aarrgghh... Just typed up a big long response only to get kicked out by the disboards!!! It seemed just like being on the DCL website except no fishies to keep me entertained!!!!

Anyhow here goes attempt #2 at a response!

I really enjoy geocaching and if my wife woudl let me, I would probably be quite addicted to it. I really like that it gives us a good family outing (we are careful not to try and do caches that are too difficult for the kids). We also tend to do them when we are a long road trip as it helps to break up the monotony of the drive for the kids. And in general I don't like walking just walking's sake, so this gives me a purpose to the walk. Also, sometimes you can find out about places and things that are right in your own backyard that you never knew existed!

I will warn you however, it can be quite frustrating. One cache took me 3 attempts to find it. I thought it would be an easy find one day, so I went out on my way home from work to find out, traipsed around the bush in my shirt and tie and dress shoes and came up empty. took my nephew with me another time and still no luck. Took the girls out and find out it was right under my nose all 3 times!!

Here are a few pics of us geocaching:

Our first geocache find gave us a viewpoint of our fair city that we hadn't seen before. GCRAY8

Sometimes it's just the things you can see while geocaching that make it worthwhile. This guy didn't help me find the cache at all. GCXQZY

Did I mention it was fun to do with family? Here is my dd3 (Kaleigh) having some fun caching. GC106KH

And this is a travel bug that I sent out to commemorate the life of my late cousin. Hopefully it will find it's way to Scotland, where he wanted to visit and learn about his ancestors. VTBD40

Geocaching can be fun and rewarding and really doesn't have to cost that much.

If you want I can talk to you about it while on the cruise. Heck, if there are others who are interested in the sport, maybe we can hold a group get together on the ship and I can try and answer some questions. Just one caveat: I am by no means an expert. I am still pretty green at this myself, but I think I have gotten most of the basics covered pretty well, and can at least help a few people get pointed in the right direction. I will be bringing my GPS and geocaching stuff with me on the cruise as there are some caches I want to try and find on the cruise (no not on the ship but in the ports ;)).

btw great pics:goodvibes looks like a fun outing

Lordy, take a little break and you kids close out the old thread and are five pages into a new one.

No time to catch up, Peg just called to meeto for an early dinner....gotta wash up and head out.

I'll catch up tonight.!

She was looking for you for breakfast, but you were sleeping in! ;)

It's taken a long time but Darrell has started to realize the beauty of cereal for meals other than breakfast! I could live on cereal.

What is a batter blaster? I'm picturing Buzz Lightyear...

We love cereal at our house too. Breakfast, dinner, snacks. But.....we are out of milk so I think I need to make a trip to the grocery tonight.

You know, this thread jumping makes me loco . . .

I just gave up on the last one since I can't quote anything . . .

But, I just had to copy the link to this . . . the picture was just too funny!

Well, gotta go pick up Sophia at Grandma's - she went to a church event with her. Maybe I can catch up on this one later . . .

Thanks - I missed out on commenting on the last thread.

Love the pic Nan!!

Just doing a quick drive by posting to ensure I am registered for this thread.

Pretty happy. I got my Sanyo eneloop batteries today on sale! Just gotta pick up the charger on Tuesday.

Bought a cute Minnie Mouse outfit for my DD3 on sale. I will try and post pics when she wears it.

Got my PDA all set up to help with my geocaching - paperless now!!

Had a good Daddy/daughter outing with my DD6.

And now I get home to my wife doing up the finances to find out we are exactly where we thought we should be at this time.

The sun is shining, the snow is melting. Things are generally good right now.

Ah, life IS good in the north country today! Enjoy!! :goodvibes

If we didn't have kids I would be all over that ...how fun. We used to watch eco challenge marathons when we didn't have kids all the time(its from the producer of survivor prior to survivor really cool extreme adventures we like watching the mount everest documentaries too...very cool)

Those were awesome!!!

All I know about it I read on the website or here from a couple posts. It does look like great fun and I am wanting to learn more for sure. Having it explained in real life gps and all would be great. I bet there are others who would like to learn more as well. If you do give an impromptu how to on the ship count me in!

I have a question here:

How many suitcases are we allowed to bring on the ship.
I know about the airlines but does Disney put a limit on bags?

No limit there. They will send you tags for 2 each person, but will have additional tags available from the porters at the port.

Hey Monica,
I made it through my backed up Jane Austen's last night and as things were moving along with Pride and Prejudice I forgot that it was many parts and was frustrated. More tonight. Have you seen the Jane Austen book club?
Kelly

I haven't see Jane Austen Book Club....think I'll have to rent it soon. Was it good (I read the book).

Oh my - I am only up to page 64 on part 4. Traveling is killing my dis time. I won't be home until tomorrow night so nobody should say anything until then!

uh, yeah, right. :thumbsup2

She was looking for you for breakfast, but you were sleeping in! ;)

Quite the reverse...SHE's the sleepy head. I'd already cleaned the kitchen, DISed and cooked up breakfast before she was out of bed. But we did just have a nice early dinner. It's "Bone Sucking Sunday" at Barracuda Beach Club, so we had wings! Yummm.

well, think I'll mosey back over to the old thread and read the last 12 pages....can't stand the thought of missing something...even if it's just missing out on some laughs. (Jan and Nan have both been on a roll :rotfl: lately!)

Kelly, love the new ID. :thumbsup2

.

did any of you guys book this trip thru costco?
do they give you some sort of giftcard for booking thru them?

Sophia says THANK YOU for EVERYONE'S Birthday wishes!

I don't like that once the thread is closed you lose your quotes, I had a few replies selected and lost them....I wish we didn't have to keep changing our thread.

I agree . . . like losing history, but, no choice.

I got 4 window trimming on the front of the house and one on the deck painted today. Then mowed the lawn. Sunshine for 2 days already and more on the way tomorrow!! :woohoo: :yay: I hope to get a few more wndows painted tomorrow, plus paint the front door that DrHug repaired today. :thumbsup2 Off to the grocery now so I can feed this sweet man.

What a wonderful invention!! Too bad it's not sold around here! I just looked at the website and it's about an hour away to get one!! So I guess I'll have to wait for awhile!!! Enjoy them though!!!

Hmmm . . . we don't carry this, but our competitor does . . .
