I have highlighted Holly's quotes even though I have recieved MANY wonderful thoughts from so many Disers about this.

Often it is hard to deal with something when you are on your own on something. I posted here because I already feel as if I am among friends.

Funny animal story, I was driving to my dentist in Oakland the other day and I saw a huge squirrel...well it wasn't a squirrel it was a FOX! in the middle of the day in urban oakland. So thats how rare I see wild animals (unless you count road kill) hahahahaha

Now my daughter and I are going to watch AI. West coast time, so no more spoilers please.

I'm in southern CA and we actually had the freeway shut down because of a mountain lion a couple of weeks ago!! And my sister, who is also here had three coyotes in her back yard - that is a little scary. Now they refuse to let their dog go outside!!

Just add money when you want to your onboard account and then you can take the tips from there.

Since all the lifeboats still seem to be full. I will just stay on deck four or five in one of those nice chairs in the atrium area, because I am still gty also.

No I just buy gift cards and use them onboard or my credit card.

I read a couple of people mention the port in Long Beach. Just remember we are using the port in San Pedro. It is the Port of Los Angeles. I don't want anyone getting picked up at wrong spot.

When I get onboard and have time I go the desk and ask them to apply them to my account. I have Disney, American Express, and Disney rewards cards that they apply.

did I mention that I picked up a closet shoe holder? It was $2 I think at Publix last night. I know the closets aren't too big but I figure we can at least have all our shoes up off the ground.


Are there mirrors on the outside of the bathroom doors? I can't remember....I am wondering about putting an over shoe holder on the outside to keep cabin items organized....it is a small space!

My cruise box is filling up nicely.....!

Ok everyone...

This is my latest story... (& I'm sorry to rant, but right now, I'm pretty alone in this...

First I have to note that I don't get along with my father... VERY bad divorce and I was the one child out of the 4 that was left behind... (the others were older and in college or on their own... I was the only one at home...)

After a very bad incident whereas his wife threw a fit and went after me (for something that was so silly and foolish - I took my nephew to McDonalds and she was serving hamburgers for dinner...) and threw me out of the house... Ever since then my father and I have had a strained relationship. I had panic attacks and pains in my chest for the last 28 years so I decided to have my own life. I am very cordial and respectful when I am in his company - he turns things around and tells his version of things and I end up on the bad side of things...

So... last Thursday my brother calls my mom... They don't call me, because they think that I'm the one that left dad... and they blame me... He tells her that dad had surgery to remove a cyst... I come down to TX to visit my sister and she tells my mother - not me... that it is cancer, but that they don't know what the treatment will be.

He's 77 this year. Has more heart problems than Dr. Oz could find... along with many other health issues.

So... I've spent the last 2 nights crying because I am afraid that if I have to go to his funeral/services, whatever... someone is going to blow up at me (I do not intend to cause a scene...but I don't trust my stepmother...)

So I'm feeling pretty crappy about all of this.

Sorry I had to rant... I just don't have too many people to talk to about it...

Michelle, I won't go into my long story, but it is similar to yours. What I learned a long time ago was that as long as I knew I had nothing to be guilty about, that's what was important. It is not your job to make others be realistic and understanding. All you can do is know that you have no regrets and nothing to feel bad about. If they choose to hang on to negativity and grudges, all you can do is feel sorry for them. It's hard and I'm the last one to give advice, but that's how I deal with it. At my dad's funeral, I was there whether they wanted me there or not. He was my father, I had a right to be there. I just psyched myself up for the looks and comments and didn't give them the satisfaction of a reaction from me. Hang in there!!

On our last DCL cruise I made a payment to our account about three weeks before our cruise date. When we started to sail away, I thought I'd go ask about it - it wasn't there!!! It had come out of my checking account, but wasn't on the room. I had made the payment by calling DCL directly. So they called back to Orlando, got the confirmation and added it to my room that day. So the moral of the story is, if you make a payment ahead of time, double check as soon as you get on board to make sure it is applied. This time, we are taking travelers checks to put on our account when we board. We'll leave a credit card in case we get carried away!!

Well you might just see some of our group walking the deck at night - I think there is someone doing a couple of hours for charity. Also I think it is woody who is organising regular walking round deck 4. That isn't at night though!!!!! Anyway I am sure we can squeeze you in somewhere.
