For sure Lisa. She is going home. A life lived well and well lived. I also give you a  my friend, for while you are happy I'm sure for her to be in God's arms now I also am sure you are missing her and have sad thoughts for your parents and their loss.

I just feel so bad for my Dad (it is his mom). They did everything they could to get there in time, but didn't. It must have been very hard to arrive and on the drive to him home, get the call. :sad1:

Nan, how long would you be there on the 24th. We are thinking of going down on the 24th or 25th for bubbas birthday. If you guys are spending some time on saturday we could plan on meeting up.

we can't go on the 24th as that is Wil's bday, but I want to go a bit earlier in that week, the kids are out of school. Could you go during the week? When is Bubba's bday? Do he and Wilson have the same bday?

Yes, I think they because they get a certain amount through real estate taxes or something so they aren't dependent on it. I'm sure they get funding of course, but it isn't dependant on attendance.
Lisa

that makes sense. if it's based on local property taxes then your area would have a leg up on most of CA. interesting. I thought it was totally based on student #s and prop taxes were spread out to all the schools in the state.

Can I ask for a special prayer tonight?

Some of you might remember I went to Minnesota to visit my Grandmother back in December...she broke her hip. She was 98, and had never spent the night in the hospital other than having babies. My sister and I visited (that's when I bought my purse at the mall of america).

Anyway, my parents emailed two days ago that she took a turn for the worse with her recovery. My parents were in Aruba. They got a flight home to SFO, landed last night around 10pm. This morning at 3:30am they went to he airport to fly to MSP - my grandmother's home is about 2 hours away. As soon as they landed, they got a call from my Uncle that she passed away.

Her name is Adeline Flaig and she truly was a beautiful and wonderful woman. She had 7 kids, 32 grandchildren, and I can't keep up with how many great-grandchildren...maybe 50.

She lost her husband 10 years ago, and a few weeks (Jan. 98). She was very sad for a year after, but then came out of it and made a couple trips across the country to visit our family. I have great memories of my kids riding the cable car with her.

So I'm a little sad, and would love the thought of prayers for her welcome home.

Thanks.
Lisa

Lisa, I am so sorry for you loss. I know that she will be welcomed home with open arms. Prayers to you and your family:hug:

Some parents take kids out about 5-6 weeks a year...it isn't wise of course, but it happens. Lisa

to me that sounds excessive, but to each their own.

This is the first time in 6 years of school that we have taken the kids out for anything. They both attended school the day they lost their grandparents (Paul's grandmother and my father) Paul & I feel strongly about the value of attending school.

Speaking of the men's surgery - When my dd was in kindergarden we had a puppy that we had neutered. We told dd that we didn't want any puppies. A few weeks later my dh had the surgery. My dd asked why her dd couldn't walk and he told her the truth that we were not going to have anymore children. My dd went to school and told everyone that her dad had been neutered. He was so embrassed.

My DB & DSIL got their dog neutered about the same time that DSIL got preggers with my niece... when she had the baby the dog, I swear just stared at my brother with the "well, you let HER have a puppy" stare... ;)

You're ABSOLUTELY coming....we would all be so sad if part of our family was missing......don't even give it another negative thought! It will happen! Knot in stomach can go away now.

You can print your avitar out on magnetic sheets and just put them up on the door. It was Ginamarie's idea and John tried it for our halloween cruise and they worked great. You get them at staples.

They're on the refrigerator now!

Yes, I'm sure it will work out! :woohoo: And I LOVE the idea of using that as a door sign. Will do! Thanks for the tip Deb.

Oh you have to come - I need someone to share Smarties with!!! Don't forget to make a magnet out of picture of DS and Bobby!!!

Okay, have a problem that I hope someone can help with. When I first quit the thread for awhile i had a picture of Doug and I in my Avatar. When I came back it was gone and my original one was back. :confused3 Now I would like to put another picture in but it doesn't seem to be using the same way as before (which was easy, just copy from photobucket and paste). Can someone explain to me what to do now?:) :confused3

Thanks,

Carol

Photobucket has one of the things to copy which is for an avatar... maybe you are using something too big???

I understand. I do also believe that those who we love and love us have a hand in when they go. My dad waited for us not to be with him. My mom, sister and I had spend the last 4 years very close with him and during his final week we stayed in the hospital for a week straight, except for showers and meals. Paul and Wilson made it up late the night before he passed. I went to mom and dad's to sleep there that night. Mom and Lee stayed with him. My other sisters arrived in the morning to shift Lee and Mom for a shower, as they drove to us at the house I got the call. Dad passed. He was with my 2 older sisters; who for the record were not the daughters that cared for him (or my mom now) but I know he went when Lee and I & Paul could care for my mom. I hope you father is at peace with his mom's passing. I feel your pain. Just be the loving daughter that you are for him and your mom.

yup APs. I have premium, the rest have Deluxe. I get the discounts and the days we go seem to work for Deluxe. What are your dates? We need a trip, but couldn't make either of the suggested mini meets. I really want to go in feb during our break 2/18-2/24 (wil's bday 2/24)

See we do not have school break until March 21-30. But I have Wiggles live tickets for San Jose on the 25th. So I was thinking maybe the 26th-29th (Wed-Sat) might not be as crowded as the weekend. We all have the premium passes so anytime is FREE. Free is good. Makes Disneyland a cheap vacation. Sometimes I price line a three star room for $35 bucks and usually always get Crown Plaza which is pretty nice. Cheap room, free admission and Disneyland makes me a happy camper!

Oh I wish we could go during the week, but we both have to work. Bubba is using all his vacation time for the panama cruise and a 7 day cruise we are going on in Aug with his parents for their 25 anniv. So no extra days off for him. Oh well, it would have been great to meet up.
Bubbas birthday is the 27th. We always have to go close to our birthday to get our birthdays button.:goodvibes

darn school, it's in the way of my dland vaca plans. :lmao: never tried priceline might do that next time just to see what we can get. We've been staying at the Sheraton the last couple times. Dland hotels have gotten pricey. I remember the good old $69 rates.

It sounds like she lived a very full and happy long life. There are bounds to be little glimmers of her personality in each of her many children and grandchildren so while she may be gone in body her spirit is still with you always.

I hope your family can look back on her life with joy and remembrance to get through this difficult time.

That was very touching. My dad is the eldest son - he has 3 older sisters and 3 younger brothers. He is, in many ways, the sound leader in the group. Maybe he needed to come refreshed as he could be (traveling hours from Aruba) - but just maybe my grandmother thought it would be better for him to arrive to care for his siblings.

I have to look into flights...all my sisters and brother already have them. I was going to D.C. next week, but had to cancel.

I forgot, thanks for reminding me. We talked about dinner, but never came up with a place and time. Maybe the time was 5 or 6? I want to do the P&P party, so darn it, no dinner for me.

Thanks...I'm all crying b/c of my Grandmother, so I'm afraid my DH might not have a chance...

 You know each and every one of us is sending you a huge virtual hug right now. We may not be beside you but we are there with you. :grouphug:

Hmm where do you live? I need to move there. Not for 5 weeks but my area is really not great about missing school. They will let you do independent study but tell you how wrong you are for doing it.
