Is there a maximum number of consecutive days you can stay at any single DVC resort? (proivided you have the points of course)

Wow, good question! I'll have to go look through my stuff and see if I can find an answer, because it is also a very interesting question!

Alright, my new goal is to have 344 points. That would let me spend January in a studio at OKW. So with 285, I need 59 more.

I don't think there is a maximum length of stay as long as you have the points.

Gee, Robin, you just gave me a great idea! We have 380 points, but I don't usually stay in studios. For a month at Disney though, I might change my mind!

Diane,

I am thinking of when I retire. Spending Jan in Florida. I would try for Feb too, but the price points would be too much for my blood.

I would love, love, love to do this! My only problems would be missing my puppies and cats too long and my DS and DD missing too much ice hockey and ballet. I guess it'll have to wait another 10-12 yrs!

There is something in the literature about a maximum stay. I believe it's so you can't establish residency and vote or some such item. Sorry, but I don't recall how long it is.

To my knowledge, the only limitation is based on the number of points available. I have never seen any mention in our documents of any maximum number of nights for a stay. There is a statement that ownership does not provide any claim of residency - since residents could then vote in local elections and have a say in the operation of Disney owned property.

DVC has placed limits on the number of points owned at any resort (2000) and total points (5000), but even those limits have loopholes that could allow for greater ownership if so desired.

Enjoy your membership and stay as long as you'd like (and can afford) !! :)

Wow, can you imagine trying to get a multiple month reservation via day by day reservation method?! :teeth:

Points are the only limitation. I'd also guess they'd ask you to change rooms at least once a year for maintenance.

I read in the recent book "Disney War" that Michael Eisner's favorite resort is Beach Club... Wonder how many points he has? Part of his golden parachute?

HEY GUYS, I POSTED A THREAD ALONG THIS LINE ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO. THE ESSENCE WAS THAT I'M AT RETIREMENT AGE AND CONSIDERING ALL WINTER IN WDW . THANKS FOR A NUMBER OF INSIGHTFUL SUGGESTIONS. FOR ANYONE INTERESTED HERES HOW WE DECIDED TO GO.WE ARE UP TO 700 POINTS NOW. THAT SHOULD GET US THE LAST WEEK IN JAN.,ALL OF FEB. AND ONE WEEK IN MAR. WE HAD CONSIDERED A HOUSE OF CONDO BUT THAT WOULD TIE UP A LOT MORE CASH AND WORRY ABOUT EMPTY TIME OR RENTAL HEADACHES.WE COULD EVEN EXTEND IT BY STAYING AT ANOTHER RESORT, BUT BCV AND VWL HAS US HOOKED.SO IF ANY WINTER YOU SEE AN OLD CODGER WITH AN I LOVE N. Y. TEE SHIRT LOOK CLOSE YOU'LL SEE A SUB CAP THAT SAYS (BUT WDW IN THE WINTER)

An OKW studio is 5139 points for the whole year (thanks Caskbill). Sounds doable, who's going to take a crack at it?

A whole year in one room? YUCK! - even if it is at a DVC resort.

Best wishes -

OK then, a 1BR at OKW is 10330 points (another thanks to Caskbill :) ) I'm in! :moped: Oh darn, Iforgot that I'm in the neighborhood of being short by a mere 10,000 points. Another great plan goes up in smoke!

I'll bet I'm not the only one who's enjoying this thread, sitting here dreaming. One other advantage of wintering at DVC vs. buying a vacation home is when hurricanes come. If you own a vacation home, you deal with the worryor "we've got to rush over there and get it ready for the storm". We know someone who dealt with the worry when Huricane Emily hit here. With DVC-no such worry (well, we still worry, but it's not the same). Just dreaming about retiring at DVC....

This thread gives me some ideas......but I'd have to wait till 4 kids get out of college first.....

Ok in the intrest of science I will test this theory.

Now I will need someone to give me 5139 points to try this out. :rotfl2:
