I would like to ressie a VB cottage. I only have 50pts. for VB contract. The point requirement for a cottage in May is 45 pts. So with banking and borrowing, I could ressie 3 days with 15 pts. left over. My question is....could I transfer over points from my BWV contract into VB's utilizing the extra 15 pts., and trying for 2 more days in a cottage? This would theoretically push me over the max. 150 pts. I believe are allowed possible at one time in my contract. Or is this rule only if pts. are not already allocated in a ressie? Otherwise, I guess I could just transfer the 15 pts. out of VB into my BWV, then ressie from there.

Here's another question for your scenario. If you transfer BWV points to your VB account can they be used at the 11 month mark for the VB cottage?

You cannot transfer points between your own contracts. Any points transferred to you by another DVC member retain their home resort and use year.

Actually, I can because I have two separate master contracts for my resorts. I have already transferred from one to the other before.

Nope, I already know I can't ues the remaining pts (15 pts. VB and transferred pts. of BWV) until 7 mos as anything transferred retains home resort info. So either way I transfer, can't make the ressie until 7 mos. out. For transferring reasons, May is the last month of my UY for my June VB contract. So that will have some bearing on how I do this. My BWV contract is March UY, so I'm ok there.

Interesting. I didn't know you could do that with two master contracts. I'm curious why you would want to do that though? Why not just use the points as they are? You can still combine them for a trip (we do that often with our OKW and HH points) so I wouldn't think transferring would give you any benefit.

Actually, as I read your OP again...if your original question was asking if you can transfer your BWV points to your VB contract so you can combine the points for one reservation then you don't need to do that. Just have the MS rep use the 15 VB points first and then make up the difference with the BWV points (all of this at the 7-month window, of course). Transferring is not necessary.

AFAIK, there isn't a limit to the number of points you can transfer into a contract. As you already know, you are limited to one transfer into your contract or out of your contract, but not both in the same use year. So if you could find someone to transfer the number of VB points that you need to complete the Beach Cottage reservation, you could make the reservation before the 7 month window opens.

Are you sure about the unlimited transfer amount? I just read, although I can't remember where, that I can't have more pts. transferred into my account than what I would normally have within a 3 yr. period. So, lets say I use 100 pts. (banked and current UY). I want another 50 transferred to bank for the following year, giving me another 100 pts. (banked transferred VB points, plus following years pts.). It was my understanding that altogether I would have 200pts. within a 3 yr. period, over my allowable 150pts. So I couldn't get the transfer. Anyway to verify this? I'm pretty sure about his info, just need to get some authority on it.

That would be great if they would do that, but you have to have the total nights points available per contract (only way to combine pts. is to transfer some in, then I can combine the odd # of pts.)
Or just make a separate ressie for one night using BWV pts., link the ressies. But then I will still have the 15 VB pts. hanging out there.

Is this because you have two master contracts? I have used my Hilton Head and Old Key West points for the same reservation and I am sure I didn't have the exact points-per night from each. (For example, if the room was 22 points per night and I booked for 5 nights I know that I didn't have, say, 44 OKW points and 66 HH points). I've never had to transfer between my contracts.

Maybe I'm just not understanding...or maybe this is something new?

I believe there is something in the Public Offering Statement about the maximum number of points you can have in your UY at any one time. But I'm not sure MS is following it as it was written.

Thats it! Thats where I read it, in the POS.

I don't think that applies to transferred points - but I am not 100% sure.

You should call MS and ask. If the CM sounds unsure, ask him/her to verify with a Supervisor.

FWIW, they shouldn't let you do a transfer if it puts you "over the limit". I've never read of anyone being denied a transfer unelss it was because they already had one for the same use year. Seems to me we would have heard if anyone had been denied a transfer because of a limit. JMHO. YMMV.

Let us know what MS says if you decide to call.

BWV Dreamin has two master contracts with different use years, thus they are considered two completely separate memberships, with separate membership numbers, not a membership and add-on. This is why they have to transfer between contracts.

No, there is no limit on the number of points which may be transferred. Once in your account, the transferred points may also be banked into the next Use Year and MS has been allowing transferred points to be banked without regard to the banking deadlines (I would not count on that continuing indefinitely however).

The POS statement about 3 years worth of points is in reference to banking points from one Use Year, using current points and borrowing points from the subsequent Use Year and does not include transferred points - again this is something which could change at any time without notice.

While points may be transferred bewteen separate accounts owned by the same person(s) any such transfer would use the single transfer for both accounts for the Use Year.

Another way to use both contracts for the reservation is to reserve as many nights as possible with each account and then borrow points from the next Use Year to utilize any stray points to reserve additional nights. MS will link all of the nights together into a seamless reservation. We have done this many times for reservations and have never transferred points between accounts.

Ahhh...I get it now. I didn't realize that they were different use years. I need that "slap-me-on-the-forehead, V8" smiley!

Great Doc! :worship: I knew about the banking amount, but I was unsure how many transferred points would be allowed into an account. I have enought points to ressie for 3 Beach cottage nights and a OVIR. So I would do this, then at 7 mos, see if any Beach cottages are available, transfer in 20 pts. from BWV to use with the left over VB points, then ressie the remaining nites with my BWV points, linking them together. UY wise, this works best, because my BWV pts are March, and my VB pts are June. I'd have to swich my vacation to Sept/Oct. though due to the March UY.
