Maximum number of drops on Tower of Terror?

I think it's 7. I'm not sure but it seems like EVERYTIME I go I get dropped the max!!! And I don't ride it for the drops!
It's 8, or at least that's the most I've experiennced. They are rare, but I've dropped 8 times twice, out of well over 100 rides since the randomizer, Now that sounds like a Rod Serling type word.

....the big drop and get disappointed if I only get a series of small ups and downs....love ToT I wish I could ride it everyday - such a stress reliever (for me anyway) :goodvibes

It is random and no two rides are the same

I rode it by myself several times last weekend when DH was playing golf at Magnolia :woohoo:

I hesitate to post this, as it goes against the common knowledge.

But when I went in August, it was no longer random. I rode ToT four times on August 7, and it didn't vary at all. I wasn't sure at first, but by the fourth ride I was sure. It didn't vary.

I also rode a bunch of times (probably 10 or more) on August 13, and it didn't vary at all. Same sequence as August 7.

I rode 4 or 5 times on August 14. Again, didn't vary at all. Same sequence every time, and same sequence as the previous days.

ToT is my favorite ride in WDW, and I am certain of this. It was not random on any of those days. Maybe it's back to being a random sequence now?

To Many!

:lmao:

Last trip was my first ride on TT. And I only did it because our youngest wanted to ride. :scared1:

We rode RRR for the first time. Twice actually. Walk on, walk off since it was morning EMH. Liked the ride. :)

BTW way, there AINT NO WAY that Tyler did not do the Shocker by mistake! :rotfl2:

We then went to TT. The CM "apologized" that the line was so long. We walked strait into the library.

DD rode the ride.....

DD got off the ride and said, "Daddy I will NEVER ride that ride again."

No later than the next morning she was asking to ride TT again! :rotfl2:

We went again and she rode it two more times. She was shacking so hard I thought she was cold. She loved the ride! :confused3:lmao:

The worst part of the ride is not going up. It is not going down...

It is seeing one of the ride displays showing a Windows shutdown/reboot sequence! :scared1::eek::laughing:

Later,
Dan

Didn't they run a special Summer version of the ride this year? maybe the drop sequence was static during that version of the ride instead of the "normal" randomized version?

Yes. That is correct.

That special "Summer Nightastic" version of the ride is no longer in operation.

My 20 y/o DD is a big chicken when it comes to "thrill rides". I had to beg her to go on it with me. The first time we went there a few, maybe 4 or 5 drops but the second time there were COUNTLESS drops and this is now her FAVORITE WDW ride!:thumbsup2

ToT was the one ride at Disney that I was TERRIFIED  of riding. The two DD's (11/8) wanted to ride it. Not DW or me, no way, no how. It ended up being one of the BEST rides we had. DD's, screamed and cried the whole way and after. DW and I, LOVED it! :cool1: I think we just gave ourselves over to it. We knew we weren't in any real danger, so we just let Disney do their Magic. We'd go on it again ANYTIME!Now go and enjoy your trip! :thumbsup2

I talked my wife in to riding ToT on our last trip (she's not really a thrill ride person). Let me just say that my hearing in my left ear will never be the same. I couldn't believe how loud she screamed - seriously. Not to mention the death grip she had on my arm (some light bruising). On the flip side, this was the only time I've ever purchased the ride photo! I would have paid a LOT more just to make sure I got it - priceless. :rotfl2:

Just as your wife injured you, I nearly injured my DS, who was 9 at the time, on the first (and only) time we rode it in 2005. I HATE any kind of drop, but it was Disney, so I had to try everything. Well, I was seated on the very end of the row and was bracing myself for the falls by pushing my leg against the wall. Well, I didn't realize I was pushing my other leg the same way--against my DS's leg. He screamed the whole time, and I thought he was screaming because of the ride, but it was because I was about to break his leg!

I agree with Robo (I should make a shirt that says that...)

We went last week and rode it 4 or 5 times, once right after the other and then a couple of different days. Each drop sequence was different.

One time, there were only short (couple of feet) drops.

The very last time there were long drops and a lot of weightlessness because they dropped you, shot you up and dropped you immediately again... a couple of times.

So... it varies and there's no way to predict what you're going to get.

That said... I'm the resident CHICKEN on the boards. I rode ToT the very first time in 2008. If you would like to witness it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VnfomXAawk

This trip, I rode it and LOOOOVED it. It was not nearly as bad as I thought it was in 2008 :goodvibes This is one of my new favorite rides... and NEVER in a MILLION TRILLION years would I ever think that I would say that. The drops are really smooth and by the last time I rode it, I actually had a SMILE on my face!!!!!:thumbsup2

Love the video. And so glad that you love TOT now. I love the ride too. My DH only rides if I make him. Which last time I made him, since it was our DS's first time riding it. DS said it was okay, but didn't want to ride it again. I'm still hoping that he will love it as much as I do and not be like Daddy.

Just watching your video made me giggle and smile, because of how much I love it. And in a month I'll be there. :yay:

I've never counted the drops. But I've ridden about a million times, and there's one sequence I've only seen just once -- maybe someone else can tell me how common it is.

It went through the usual "random" drop sequence. We went back to the bottom, as if the ride was over, and that screen that usually shows the swirly thing when you hear the Serling impersonator welcome you back instead showed that Twilight Zone windowframe... we just sat there a moment and stared at it, then the window shattered and we shot back up and did another drop sequence.

Maybe that happens often and I just never experienced it... but it was very cool.

I have rides, can't wait to try all the attractions at Disney... however I. Have. No. Desire. to ride ToT... Just the mere thought of it scares me s**tless. Sorry, but there isn't another word to describe it! LOL.

I'm SO with you on this. No way am I EVER getting on that ride. There would have to be LOTS of $$$$ involved.....

ToT is totally cool! Yes you get scared but that is done so neatly; that you almost forget there is going to be drops.

Yeah it's REALLY random now. Each ride was different. The one I mentioned with all of the short drops... we were like :confused3 what was that?!?!

We rode it twice a couple of weeks ago and both times got the short drops and it was over quick. I was the same way:confused3 In all the years I have been on it I've never ridden it when it was like that and was really disappointed.

Was it really busy - many people in park?

It wasn't like mid-summer crowds but there were a lot of people there as the day went on. I was really surprised that it was so minimal with the drop sequence and to get it twice
