We have a 7 night trip planned for Thanksgiving staying at our home resort. I recently found out that my company is sending me to a conference at Bonnet Creek the first week in November (5 days). Since we don't have any extra points and there is little DVC availability at this point, we planned to stay at Bonnet Creek. I just realized that since we have APs and the two trips are within 30 days of each other, we won't have any FP+s for our off property stay. Since this will be a busy time - last weekend of F&W, Jersey Week, and marathon - I'm trying to decide whether to: 1) cancel BC and book a Disney regular hotel room to get FP+ for our entire stay; 2) stay at BC but skip Disney and do Universal instead (we haven't been yet); 3) go without FP+ knowing we'll be back in a couple of weeks and will have FP+ then. What would you do? I should mention that only I have AP. DH has a 7 day hopper that he'd have to upgrade.

Seems like a perfect opportunity to check out Universal / Sea World and some of the other attractions in the Orlando area. :)

If it were me and the AP was burning a hole in my psyche, I'd just go without FP+ and concentrate on the F&W booths, concerts & special events. I'd do all the things that I've been skipping to do the more popular rides. There are lots of things that aren't that busy in the parks (and in the resorts & Downtown Disney). Have fun!

really? I thought offsite could book 30 days out. Is there a restriction as to how many FP+ AP holders can book? This may mess me up big time for last minute trip I was trying to work in June.:headache:

Seems the system is messed up. I had no problem booking 17 days worth of FP for myself, my husband and my 1 granddaughter. But I can only book 7 days worth of FP for my daughter, SIL and other granddaughter and we are all 6 AP holders.

If they are not staying on site, annual passholders are supposed to have a max of 7 days worth of FP+ bookings. They can't book more until one of the 7 days has gone by or they cancel the FP+ for one of the 7 days.

I fully agree! DH and I were in Orlando in early March, 2 weeks before our Spring Break trip with DGD & DS. We had a very nice day at Epcot enjoying F&G and the WS.

We are all staying at the Bcv next month, but part of the family was limited to 7 days worth of FP while the rest of us had 17 days worth. We are all passholders

Glitch. Some were lucky. Some were not.

I would definitely check out Universal if you are Harry Potter fans. IMO it blows Disney attractions away! (The rest of Universal is ok, but not so incredible that I would feel really disappointed not to go.) The Harry Potter attractions should be experienced at least once!

Again, IMO, 3 days for both Universal parks would work, and the other 2 days without FPs, I would just relax and go with the flow, planning to enjoy all that Disney has to offer beyond the most popular rides.

if they are staying onsite for the second visit would those count against them?

Yes you only get more than 7 days if you are staying more than 7 days onsite.

What you could do is plan for only 6 days of FP+ reservations over Thanksgiving and then you can book FP the night before and see which park has the most FPs you are interested in- it may not get you the favorite rides at each park but would give you some options. You also know that unless you already have a no expiration ticket you must upgrade your DHs pass to an AP for him to use it for both trips- in which case going to other parks in Orlando may be better for this trip.

We had this issue in January. So we did 6 nights of FP+ during the onsite portion and made night before or day of plans each day of our offsite.

I was not impressed although. I understand Disney's rationale.

So, I did verify through playing around with the FP+ system and another DVC trip I currently have booked, that you get FP+ for each day of your stay, including check in and check out days. We check out early for our Thanksgiving trip, so won't use FP+ that day, which is actually our 8th day. The system allows us to use that day's FP+ for an earlier non-Disney stay, thus we will have one days worth of FP's for our short stay. If we didn't use FP's on our arrival day or any other days during our stay, we could also apply those to the other trip.

I just got back from an Easter week trip, and we made half our FP+ only several days in advance. If you have 7DMT or A&E planned, do those well in advance. If you have specific times in mind for Soarin, Test Track, or TSMM, that might be my next priority.

I'm a little confused. We are going to be staying at BLT & BWV for a total of 5 nights before going on the Fantasy for a 7 night cruise. After the cruise we are going to stay at AKL for 7 nights. I was planning on buying APs. Does this mean that we will only have 7 days of FP+ for our 12 nights on property?

No, your should be able to book fp+ for each day you're staying onsite.
