Yesterday Oprah gave a lovely tribute to her friend Mattie. It was a very moving portion of her show yesterday/ John Travolta was on the show and he was crying like a baby and wasn't trying to hide the fact. Mattie's mother was on sharing his final days and how hard it was to let him go.

Mattie did more in his short life than many of us would ever be able to do in many lifetimes. Goodbye Mattie.

I wish I had seen it. When I saw John Travolta was on, I changed the channel. (Nothing against JT, but I prefer "real people" guests.) Mattie was a wonderful, charming child. It broke my heart when he passed away. What a terrible loss.

My face is still wet from the crying I did when his mom showed the montague from his funeral during the JL Telethon.

He was an incredible little boy.

God Bless Mattie,we are lucky human beings,to be exposed to the wonderful people we get to see and hear!!!!!He is one of them!!

That was one of the sadest, most moving Oprahs (or any show) I've seen in a long time. I feel very sorry for that mother to have lost so many of her children to that disease. It just doesn't seem fair for one person to have to go through so much. My mom and I were talking about it last night, that he was wise way beyond his years. A truely inspirational little boy who will surely be missed.

My dd, 11, keeps one of Mattie's books beside her bed. She just loves reading his 'thought's in poem form. He really is/was an inspiration to us all. Incredible show.

I was first 'introduced' to Mattie thru Oprah...after reading his books..I have to say that he was an amazing child, way ahead of his years..and an inspiration to so many..his passing was a very sad day..may his Heartsongs live on forever!

Ditto...I was amazed at the maturity and insight this little one had shown. I thought it was so nice that the local firefighters put him on the wall of fallen heros. Very touching--had me in tears, again.
