Good day folks,

Yes this is my first post, but I lurk alot(especially since I am leaving on May 13th =P).

Anywho, The Matrix: Reloaded opens May 15th and my wife and I think that it would be awesome to go and see it at the AMC in PI.

Have any of you guys out there been to a blockbuster type movie on opening night, at PI? Experiences? Was it worth it? Am I nuts for going all the way to Disney and seeing a movie? hehe

Thanks in advanced

LOL! You're not the only ones with this plan! I had planned on seeing it on the 15th too at the AMC. Until we got free passes to an early showing Wednesday (before we leave for vacation).

But if it's good we'll have to see it twice!

So no, I don't think you are *too* crazy! :p

We did this with Spiderman and the first Harry Potter movie. We weren't going to miss these movies while at Disney and we love seeing a big movie on opening night. What we did was purchase our tickets in advance on fandango.com. That way we had gauranteed a seat and we had a definate time so we could plan our touring around it. A way to avoid a sold out crowd might be to see the movie during the day. We did that for Harry Potter and it wasn't sold out, it was cheeper because it was during the day and overall was great. As we were leaving it started to get packed(around dinner time). We saw both movies at the AMC theater at Downtown Disney and enjoyed it.
And to answer your other question, no I don't think your crazy, or maybe I'm crazy too!!

I saw Captain Ron, which is a Disney film, on opening day at the AMC thinking they might have some sort of pageantry planned. There was nothing special worth mentioning. My experience at AMC in Disney Westside was no different than any other AMC throughout the USA. With that said, enjoy the movie basd on it's own merits. I doubt there'll be anything extra happening at AMC for Matrix, other than the huge lines that will no doubt form. I would purchase tickets in advance if they offer it just to avoid the expected sell-outs in it's first week. You can check for ticket availability at fandango.com and purchase them online if you prefer.

Thanks for the reply's

Something curious I just saw on Fandango. First it says that PI's AMC is no longer doing online ticket sales, but also the Matrix is the only movie listed for that day. LOL

Should be a fun time.

Take care

That AMC has a couple of digital theaters. Might be the best way to see the Matrix, we're hoping that Finding Nemo is showing in one too. I don't know that Fandango tells you which showings are in which theater, though. I know the newspaper ads did. We always catch movies when at WDW, perfect rainy day (or too hot day) activity. Dh and I saw STAR WARS EPISODE II there last year! It was CRAZY but lots of fun. They were showing it in several theaters which they may be doing with the Matrix opening night as well. They also may be showing it at midnight which was when we saw Star Wars, if you do this give yourself plenty of times as there were lines everywhere! Hope you have fun, what better place to see a movie you are looking forward to than DISNEY? I noticed yuo mentioned they weren't doing online tickets anymore that's too bad, that's what we did and it made it much easier. We just went earlier in the afternoon and picked up our tickets from the machine so it saved a little time. You may want to call the theater direct and see if they can advise you maybe their "movie listings" number will let you buy them ahead of time.

We just bought our Matrix tickets for Wed. and we are leaving Thurs. for our Disney trip. I tried to buy them on Fandango, and Fand. said they were not selling for that showing. HOWEVER, I got them off the Cinemark website. Try the AMC website and I bet you'll get to buy them ahead of time.
So exciting!
:)

AMC there is pretty awesome. the tickets are pretty easy to pick up if your order them ahead of time. My roomate did this when I was down there. Inside the loby there is a machine (if u order off the AMC web site) you just put in your Credit card, follow what is on the screen and out pops the tickets... no need to wait in line :D

the digital thearters are awesome. I was able to see Star Wars Ep. 2, and Spiderman in them.... very very nice :D

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone here. You all post accurate and helpful info.

*the amc website....duhhhh!*

=)

Thanks again, maybe I'll see one of you crazy's in line for the 5pm Showing on May 15th!

I go to AMC Pleasure Island at least twice a week for movies. Go online to www.moviewatcher.com and you will find all the info you need there. I would definately suggest going to a showing during the day if you can because it will be less crowded. I went to the X2 premiere at 9:15PM and it was crazy. It took me almost 20 minutes to find a parking spot (it was also grad night at PI so I am sure that contributed to it.) Thank godness I went and bought my ticket during the day because the line was super long. I was able to walk right in and get to the theater just as the previews started. I had to sit in the last seat in the back, but it was better then being right up front. As I left they had people lined up outside the theater and I heard a woman say that they had been ther for an hour and a half! Good luck!

I have plans to see Lord of the Rings part 3 opening day when we are on vacation in December. It's on a Wednesday and it fits in perfectly with my day to veg plan for the day. lol Mickey
