Matching shirts...cute or dumb?

We are close to a Disney store outlet so we only paid $5 per shirt...

It really doesn't bother me that other people wear matching shirts. I guess it's the environment I grew up in. If I was on a school trip or church trip, we all wore the same shirts. Sometimes its kinda cute!

6 years ago when I went to the world with my family and friend we did it as a joke. This year I'm going with my best friend, and it sounds like us to ware matching shirts every day. We're big old nerds.

Here are ours:

You can't really see it but we picked our fav character and had our names underneath

mine has Sleeping Beauty
DD has Ariel
Sis has Eyeore
mom has Tink

WDW is the only place I would wear matching shirts. I've made stick family t-shirt for our last two trips. We received so many compliments and comments on them from both CM's and guests. People constantly want to know if I bought them. I love to tell them, "No, some wonderful people on a Disney message board personalized the design for us." DH loves his matching shirt, but again, will only wear it at WDW. I have t-shirts with Mickey and Tink on them and they only get worn at WDW. Personally, I enjoy looking at everyone's shirts!

BTW, love everyone's pics of their shirts. Those polo's are awesome Ms. Tom Morrow! :goodvibes

We match the kids, it looks great in pictures and makes it easier to keep track of them. :thumbsup2 Here are a couple of pics from our trip last fall of my daughters and nieces...

Here's us in 2007, wearing shirts with a pic of us in 2006 on the Segway tour:

We are taking separate trips this winter, me to WDW in December and my partner to DL in January, so I'll probably make up shirts with each other's pics on for us to wear to the parks.

I think it's super cute on other people/families. I'm pretty picky with what I wear, so I don't see myself finding a shirt I like that looks good that they have a matching one in dh's size. Unless........we all did matching tye-die or something and i could have the same color just a different style. :)

These are really cute! Can you post the directions on how you made these?

I found the directions for these on a thread here on the DIS! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1387362
Here are specific directions for the colors on the shirts I made:
I used Tulip white spray fabric paint first to do a background and let it dry. Then for the colors I used a Tulip 4 pack, the label says "cool colors"--they're very neon-looking when in the bottles. I did little bursts of spray with the colors which gave it the "fireworks" look. I don't think I waited very long between colors, mostly because I tried to keep them an inch or so apart. The ones that did blend a bit were the green and the yellow--if I were doing it over again I would wait for those 2 to dry and also try and keep those colors a little further apart.
DD's has just pink on the Minnie ribbon. With colored shirts I found out that if I sprayed any of the neon colors on the shirt itself they hardly showed. So the white paint was like a background to help the colors show. On mine I did the pink Minnie ribbon first. Then I just sprayed the color in small bursts. I went around in a circle and tried to alternate colors so that I had a good mix. On mine I put color just around the edges of the head but DH wanted color all over his.
Have fun with putting them together!

I also did the same pattern on gray t-shirts and it really didn't work as well--the contrast between the teal blue and the white was better.

When we wore them a lady stopped and asked us if we were DISers--she saw the thread and was planning to make them as well but ran out of time before her trip.

I like the idea of matching shirts. DH and I sometimes match. We don't put our names or dates on the shirts.

On a previous trip we both wore Wall*e shirts. His had the Buy n' Large logo and mine said "Axiom Crew".

We also like to wear shirts that match our location. For instance, he has a Kingdom Hearts shirt that says "I play games" that he wears to Disney Quest.

I like to wear my "Happily Ever After" shirt to the Magic Kingdom.

This September I'll be making some new shirts for us. I'm going to wear this shirt at 'ohana and DH will wear a hawaiian shirt.

One day we'll wear these shirts (not sure where).

I think the only identical shirts that we will wear will be to Animal Kingdom. Some one else on the DIS made these and I just love them!

I love your Animal Kingdom shirts. Do you buy them off someone here? I would love to get them for my family.

We did the matching shirts on our 2008 trip. I am deciding on designs now for our 2010 trip. My dh is not a matching shirt kindof guy but was fine with it at disney. Now my 13 yr dd is only agreeing to do it 2 days next year. LOL

I love, love, love the "Happily Ever After" t shirt. It's very cute and stylish!

The matching shirts aren't my style though, they're just not for me. My husband would never wear a matching t shirt, lol!

Hate them - I think they look really cheesy. I would be so embarased to wear matching shirts.

Matching is cute on little children but not adults.

Hate matching shirts. I wouldn't even match my two little boys together, let alone with me & DH too. Blech.

Here's our cute and ridiculous family ;)

OMG I love these!! i will go back and see if you posted how or where you made/got these...they are FABULOUS!

We (the kids and i) match often..the kids love it as much as I do ...they are younger (4 and 8) but one day they won't and so until them I will do as they want :D plus they are MUCH better for pics!

DH and I have coordinated shirts before, such as both wearing a Nightmare Before Christmas shirt on the same day, or him wearing Chernabog while I wear Maleficent. He'll wear his Donald shirt while I wear Mickey.

Matching shirts happened once, and it was to avoid a more complicated costume. Year before last we had 8 of us in WDW in October and went to MNSSHP. We dressed up my niece who was 1 y.o. as Snow White and all the adults wore a gray t-shirt with a dwarf screened on it. It got a lot of attention, the CMs loved it. Unfortunately there is no photographic evidence of this because we forgot to get a picture.

Not only do I, a 39 year old MALE, endorse matching shirts, I design them! Here's what me and the Mrs. wore on our may-june adults only trip, designed by moi:

Two or three kids in coordinating outifits is fine...but I'm SO NO into the adults in colorcoding outfits.

Some of theless obvious shirts aren't bad, but I still have no desire to do it.

Having said that, I don't mind wearing something witha character on it while I'm at WDW. One thing that did stand out to me when Iwent to Paris Disney was how few folks there worse anything witha a character on it - not even the kids. I went a few years back, so maybe it's changed. They had some great deals on t-shirts while we were there, but the quality was just okay.

Thumbs up to your husband!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2 Nothing like a classic "Killers" T-shirt!!!!! Maybe a matching Iron Maiden t-shirt day!!!:cool1:

Right now I have or DVR filled with Disney World shows and 2 Iron Maiden concerts...:woohoo:

Oh I love it!! I'd do it in a heartbeat!

I took the earlier-mentioned approach and did the "all disney wardrobe" but not identical.

I've got a girl and a boy, so it's a little harder to get them to wear matching. Usually it was princess for her, and Buzz for him. Now it's mostly Hannah Montana for her and Buzz for him. LOL!! He's a die-hard Toy Story fan. (Me too!)

I totally love the matching though, and I'd happily do it!
