Mash

I have been addicted for the past few weeks! Watching it NOW. Too funny.

Holy crap. I can't even read all that.

I liked the different and new characters but I hated BJ's mustache.

That's the most I will comment on all that.

Glad you are enjoying them. :thumbsup2 I have seen them all over and over...I like comedy and I think that is why I loved it so...:goodvibes

I think it was really 2 different shows. when it was Henry, trapper, etc., it was pure comedy. but it moved into dramady witht the cast changes.

ITA and i love both for different reasons.
One of the funniest moments in TV history has to be at the end of the first (or very close to the first) episode. It is the expression on Henry's face that makes the scene.

I don't remember the exact words but Henry is outside looking up at something. Trapper and Hawkeye come walking up

Hi Henry what you looking at

it just keeps going up and up Desk go bye bye

LOVE IT!!! :thumbsup2 Grew up watching it, my parents loved it. LOVED Trapper John on there. Not a fan of BJ-- hated the one that took over for Frank. Loved Col. Blake. LOVED when Col. Flagg would come on. My fav. episode is probably the last one, loved Alan Alada as Hawkeye!

I loved that show way back when and I love it now. Sometimes I laugh so hard I cry, other times I just cry. It's usually what I watch before falling asleep.
The only character I really don't like is Frank, he is good at what he does, but I just don't like him. He made a good whiny weasel. lol

yeah, that's the one where they sold his desk to the guy from Barney Miller to get drugs for the hospital, right?

:teeth: As a liberal I particularly enjoy Alan Alda's views - for me it adds to the show. :) My DH agrees with the sentiment of after Trapper left the show went downhill. He prefers up to about season 5. I don't care for Winchester's character as much as Frank Burns but I find them still funny even with the different cast. I checked Jumptheshark.com yesterday and the overwhelming sentiment was that it never jumped probably based on those finale numbers most people still enjoyed it enough to tune in.

Enjoyed watching it when it was on the first time, and am still enjoying the reruns. Watch them almost every night on Hallmark.

Just as a question and side note......what is up w/ post #20 ? Not putting you down, but just curious. Had to stop reading about half way down. Couldnt take it anymore, lol.

That's it

I've always wondered why they got rid of the one guy that was in the swamp with them. HoJohn or smething like that.

On the first page Radar and his last few episodes were brought up. From what I remember GB really didn't want to be there. His family was almost killed in a house fire while he was a at work. That's why he was gone a few episode before he came back for the last few.

I've always loved MASH and never really thought that it lost much when people left. It managed to go out on top even after so many years.

I liked both Colonels and both Frank Burns and Winchester. The show did evolve but it had to go into different directions or it would have become monotonous IMO. Even later on, some shows were preachy and some just plain silly.

I loved some of the recurring guest stars. Sidney the psychiatrist and the nutty Colonel Flagg were my favorites.

Did anyone else have a M*A*S*H bash for the final episode? Remember it well!

It is interesting when you find out things that happened. For example....they didn't give the script about Henry Blake dying to anyone except for Radar's character....right before he went into the OR....no one knew that was going to happen....

I believe the "Swamp" is in the Smithsonian...

My 14 year old DD has discovered the show. She has been DVR episodes. She was in the hospital a while back and we bought her season 2 on DVD for her to have something to watch.

Arguably the best sit-com of all time. It started out as very slapstick, with MacLean Stevenson and Larry Linville doing a great job as Blake and Burns. With the addition of Colonel Potter and major Charles Emerson Winchester, The Third :) it did get more serious. But still very funny.

Many series finales are tremendous disappointments (i.e. Seinfeld and Friends) but M*A*S*H's was one of the best ever. How can you not be moved by it?

And yes, Sha Lyn, that scene where the desk flies away is timeless :rotfl2:

I saw a couple episodes last year that I have never seen before. We watched MASH all the time. Great show. I liked the new additions to the cast. I do wish they would do a reunion show but I think Alan Alda said many years ago that he wouldn't do one and if he isn't there, what's the point?
