Hi,
We are planning our first Disney Cruise and like the dates/price/itinerary of one that has a Marvel Day at sea. No one in our family (myself, DH, and two daughters age 8 and 5) really like/care about the Marvel day. So should we look at a different cruise? Will you still get as much classic "Disney?" Any input appreciated! Thanks!

We are sailing on one in Oct and our family has zero interest in it. I heard they will have Marvel stuff all day long and just pray they don't close down the adult pool for any of it. I think it will be fun to see everyone dressed up,etc but I don't plan to participate in any fashion. It's just like a Halloween or Merrytime cruise -- some guests don't celebrate these holidays but no one is forced to particpate in the activities.

For me its reason enough to not book those cruises, same for sw. If you look at navigators of sw cruises or even pixar day on the wonder there are like no meets or activities with the normal characters. For me a day without meeting mickey and the gang on a cruise is just a big nono...

To date, we have avoided them. Our DD is all about mickey, minnie and the princesses and wouldnt appreciate the Marvel stuff yet.

If the dates/price/itenerary works for you I wouldn't worry about the Marvel day. While characters and activities are themed to marvel, you still have the normal cruise services that day and 6 other days of pure princess.

For me price and itenerary are most important

Is there a price increase for the voyages with Marvel days? That would be my main deal-breaker.

The cruise we were looking at was a 5 day. That's why I wasn't sure if I wanted to take up one of those days for a marvel day. We were looking at 5 day out of Miami...either key west, Nassau, cc or Marvel itinerary with Grand Caymon, cc and extra sea day for marvel.

My family went on a SWDAS(Star Wars day at sea) last Jan. I would assume the Marvel day would be similar. My dd and I aren't SW fans at all. My dh did go see the new Star Wars movie that night, but otherwise we didn't do anything that was related to SW. We still had a great time. My dd was 8 yrs old, she doesn't care that much about doing character greetings anymore, so it didn't matter that it was just SW characters that day. We did go to the character breakfast and princess greetings on another day, that was enough for her. If your girls still like all the characters, there will still be lots of times on the other days to see them. Some of the activities in the kids clubs were SW related on that day. It didn't matter to her, she still went and had fun, she even won a SW theme game, despite never seeing any of the movies. Dh and I did a mixology class that day while dd went to the kids club. While dh went to the movie that night, dd and I watch a on-demand movie in the cabin and ate chocolate chip cookies from room service. Your girls could also go to BBB to get a princess make-over on the Marvel day. The pools/slides are always a fun option to do instead of the Marvel activities. Also mini-golf and Mid-ship Detective Agency if on the Fantasy/Dream. Our cruise was a 7 night W. Caribbean on the Fantasy. I don't know which ship the Marvel cruises are on or where they go. But one advantage of going on a SW cruise was we had fireworks for 2 nights, the pirate night and SW night. Don't know if they do that on the Marvel cruises or not, but it would be a special bonus if they do. We aren't Marvel fans either, but it wouldn't stop me from booking a Marvel cruise if the dates/prices were right. Also wanted to add, my dd went to the Pluto pajama party in the kid's club and absolutely loved it. Make sure you check the navigator each day to see which night it will be held on your cruise. Pretty sure they have it on all cruises because it's popular, you don't have to get tickets for it, just show up in the club. We had it on 2 different nights, my dd went both times. Our next cruise isn't for another 7 months, and she's already saying she can't wait to go to it again.
