martin luther king holiday crowd increase?

Is there a crowd increase due to martin luther king holiday, since most schools are out that monday? Thanks

Went during that time in 2003 and there was a very big jump in attendance around the weekend. We were there before and after and the difference was remarkable. We just laughed it off, watching everyone rushing around since we were there for two weeks, but this year we did push our trip back a week and came in the weekend after MLK. It's not like summer time crowds but it was busy.

We inadvertently went to WDW during that week this year (didn't realize it when we booked it). When we realized it we rearranged our schedule so that we weren't in the parks at all on that Monday (as advised by our friends here at the Dis). But we spent the Saturday before that at AK and the Sunday before it at SeaWorld and had no problems, crowd-wise. AK had fairly short lines (DD rode Kali River Rapids twice in a row with almost no wait). The rest of the week was just fine. Bit larger crowds than our previous January visit, but that was just 4 months after 9/11, so obviously the crowds were very low then.

THere were a few soccer tournaments in town and I was told by folks here at the Dis that most of those sorts of events have Monday off, so that is why the parks would be especially crowded that one day. But I certainly would not worry about it too much........P

There are alot of places that do not have MLK day off, I think you will be fine.

We were there the sat. before MLK and the crowds were awful....We've been at various times during the summer...June, July and August..I've never seen crowds like that..You couldn't even walk in Frontierland, there were people everywhere. We would never go into the MK again on this weekend...Maybe other parks wouldn't be so bad...and this was several years ago, before 9/11....Good Luck

It has always been PACKED on MLK weekend when we have been. Schedule a trip another time if you have the option. If not then go and use the fastpass system and get to the parks at opening each day.
