Marriage: The Trip Report - Update 2/28 - Final Thoughts & Link to Disneyland TR!

The video of Henry opening the monorail is so sweet. He is such a gracious little boy!

Congrats with all of your exciting news! The TA position sounds very intriguing now that my girls are in school more.

Congrats on booking the cruise and becoming a TA!
I've been thinking of doing the same thing. I may have to PM you a few questions.

Congrats on the new TA job. That sounds like soooooooo muuuuuucccchhhhh FUN! I really want to be a TA!

The cruise out of NYC sounds fantastic. That is something I would really like to do. Seriously, no air fare. How great is that? I would love to plan a summer cruise. Better start talking to Denny about that.

Fun update and I loved all the videos. The monorail surprise was great. The tea cups - Yup - I started to get a little dizzy there. Thanks for that!!!!!

Fun Fun!

I am here! I'll have to go back and catch up but I am so happy that Henry enjoys the monorail!!!! He's too cute!

The TA job sounds so wonderful too!

Congratulations! What an exciting week for you. I am certain you will love working as a Disney TA. I'd love to hear more about the process, the college of Disney knowledge etc. And how super duper exciting to have booked a cruise AND be celebrating your b-day on Castaway Cay! :yay:

How adorable is H with the monorail set! :) I wonder why he didn't want a haircut that morning. :confused3 He's truly a DISer in the making between the food pics and having a very clear touring plan that did NOT include a stop for a haircut.

I have to confess I was not brave enough to watch the teacups video. Your description alone made me .

Can't wait for more!!

Congrats to you Brook! I know you'll love being a TA! :) I do it on the side for fun but it would sure be nice to get paid for helping so many people!! lol :rotfl2:

The Disney cruise from NYC is just perfect for you guys (and others that can take advantage of the new ports). We've been really considering the Dream for next year but we'd have to give up other vacations so we'll see... ;)

That was so extremely sweet of Carol to give Henry the monorail set! :lovestruc My DS has had his about 2-3 years and he still plays with it when he sets up the world in his playroom. Their imaginations are endless and it's been a great investment.

Loving the pictures and the TR!

Heather

Winnie the Queue! :lmao::rotfl2::worship:

I love it!

You guys always sound like you're having SO MUCH FUN in your TR's!! Not that other people don't but well it just translates well into words, KWIM??

Personally, I HATE the Tomorrowland Race Cars so this past trip when the boys headed over there to do them, we girls were in line to meet the fairies in Toontown. In fact, I don't believe I stepped foot in Tomorrowland AT ALL in January. :scared1: But, like you I didn't really care. She was determined to get back in line to meet the princesses once the (long) wait for the fairies was done and we had such great Mommy Daughter bonding time that it was a small sacrifice to make.

Besides, it just means we need to plan a return trip that much sooner. :woohoo:

Keep up the great work...can't wait for more!

Sounds like you had a great day at MK and yay on the sun shining!!

Love the monorail video! :yay: These boards sure are cool and love reading about magical things like what happened to you guys! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the photos - they look great! I like that water fall one when you were heading right - it looks really relaxing.

I admit I actually watched the teacup video! I was scared when I hit the link and wow you guys sure spun a lot - was feeling dizzy from watching it! :lmao:

 You will! I'm sure of it! You could probably convince your Dad, don't you think??? :teeth:

I think Sarah needs a cruise! I'm surprised her family hasn't taken one yet!

haha, yes, I do need a cruise! Dad's actually been looking at stuff for the London Olympics (not a cruise obviously) but the prices haven't come out yet...we are sure they're probably through the roof. Maybe if we can't do that I can suggest a Disney cruise instead. :rotfl:

Great Main Street pictures! I love the trolley song too. So much fun. :goodvibes And I can't believe you were there for 2 weeks and didn't wait for Rapunzel! ;) We really wanted to meet her so we ended up waiting. But I do agree, the line was crazy long. And they only take a certain number of people for each little session which makes the line build up pretty quickly.

ETA: OK, just watched the videos of Henry with the monorail set. So cool you were able to get one. And it TALKS?! That makes it even better! I kind of want one...hahaha

I'm not sure if I said this but: Congrats on the TA job! Sounds amazing for you, and so much fun!

Hi! I just found your TR again. Really enjoyed your arrival day @ Epcot...sounds perfect! And you're doing great so far at going with the flow! haha

Congrats to Henry for becoming potty trained! And congrats to you for it ending up happening so easily! I seriously think that's one of the most frustrating things!

And congrats on becoming a travel agent! It's bound to be something you enjoy doing everyday by helping others have amazing Disney vacations!!!

I understand the excitment of the monorail. I take it out of the box once a year to put it under the Christmas tree, and get excited to hear it hehe

I have never been on the teacups, and never will be. I hope lol I am not good with motion sickness. Blah! So yeah, I didn't watch the video lol

Oh Brook so much to comment on!!!!! First of all I love love love your updates!! So much fun had with your family that morning!!!

Okay so congrats on the TA!! I hope we get a picture with those graduating ears LOL :rotfl: I too am itching to book a cruise but of course mine would be out of Galveston, so I might have to talk to you about that LOL!!!!!!

YAY for booking a cruise!! Oh you guys are going to have an amazing time!! THe more I read about DCL the more I'm dying to go and take a cruise!!! How exciting that you will be at Disney on your bday...doesn't beat that!! Can't wait to hear your plans!!!!

Oh looking at your pictures is like being on Main Street! I can't wait to be back!

Very cute Photopass pictures!

I really like Rapunzel's meet and greet area I haven't seen it before on the DIS

Great choice for a first ride! :thumbsup2

The Storybook circus fence is adorable!

Can't wait to hear about the Winnie the Pooh queue!

The Rapunzel meet area is beautiful! There was always a big 'ol line winding up the path by the Castle, I'm sure its a fantastic meet & greet.

I really like those Storybook Circus posters too - they are very attractive and make me want to know what they have cookin' behind those fences!

Aw, Brook, what a wonderful morning! Henry's reaction the getting the monorail set is just priceless. You've got such a great little boy!

It was a great morning! It was so much fun to give him that monorail set. He was in total disbelief and awe, confused on how it made it into his suitcase! :rotfl2: We love surprising him with things like that.

Love the update! Can't say I blame Henry for not wanting to get a haircut. Who would want to sit through that when you cxould be spinning yourself silly on the teacups:scared1:. To funny about the pink cup. When Jack was 3 & 4 & 5 his favorite color was pink. We always had to ride in the pink cup and the pink elephant etc. Oh the long conversations with DH trying to convince him that to a 3 year old pink is just a color. It means NOTHING! just a color just a color .UGH! Sure glad Jack's favorite color is now shiny blue.:lmao::lmao:

Exactly, exactly, exactly! Joe always rolls his eyes and kinda groans when Henry picks pink...and he does for almost everything too.

I didn't realize you could still go in the WInnie the Pooh tree. Cool!

You can! They moved it over to the Winnie the Pooh ride, it's really very cute...the whole new queue is amazing. I have read in the future you will be able to talk to Piglet in there too!

Congrats on becoming a Disney travel agent AND booking a cruise! You have had a great pixie dust-filled week! :wizard:

Love the video of Henry with his monorail set! It was so cute that he was so excited he was shaking! I have to confess I want a monorail set for my own now that I know it makes sounds. LOL!

Great morning in the MK! Looks like a lot of fun!

Thank you!!! It has been QUITE a week! I knew as soon as I read the leak that the Magic was coming to NYC we'd be booking. :yay: It's just too good. The price of the cruise is a bit higher than those out of Port Canaveral, but, with the savings on a hotel and airfare it about equals out. FDM, love it. ;)

I had no idea it made sounds either! The ONLY thing that would make it cooler is if it did it's spiel in Spanish too.

Congrats on becoming a Travel Agent!!! And on your Disney Cruise! How awesomely fun! :goodvibes

The video of Henry opening the monorail set is way too cute! I had no idea that it had audio recordings too, I love that!

I'm very excited to see your pictures of the Winnie the Pooh queue line, seems like they did some pretty fun stuff there!

Thank you! I'm so excited about them both!

I didn't realize it had audio either until we got it and I accidentally pushed the button one night while we were hiding it away. :rotfl: It's a very cool toy.

The queue is awesome! I was VERY impressed! I took quite a few pics and we had a total blast in there.

Another great round of pictures, Brook! :thumbsup2 Max loved the TTA. Not the most exciting ride in the World, but we had a great time, nonetheless.

I already priced out a five night cruise up the New England coast! :lmao: Maybe we'll be putting down a deposit after we get back from our summer trip. :confused3 I just still can't get over the idea that we can get a Disney fix without having to pay for airfare! :goodvibes

Henry is a big fan of the TTA too - we rode it more than once...more than twice! It's a fun ride, so relaxing and the breeze always feels great.

I KNOW! I'm THRILLED they are going to be right here! I am keeping an eye on the repositioning cruise and if I can, I'll go down to the port and snag pictures of the Magic. :dance3: I'd love to be ON that repositioning cruise too. The cruise to Canada looks beautiful. :cloud9: If the Magic stays here for at least a couple years I have a feeling we'll be doing that one next!

Ok, I watched the video, and it reminded me why I will never, ever, ever ride the teacups again......

I loved Henry's reaction to receiving the monorail! I had no idea that it 'talked' as well, how awesome is that?

Vicious, isn't it?! :rotfl2: I warned you! ;)

Isn't the monorail cool? It really is a pretty impressive toy. It get a lot of play around here too!

The video of Henry opening the monorail is so sweet. He is such a gracious little boy!

Congrats with all of your exciting news! The TA position sounds very intriguing now that my girls are in school more.

He was completely thrilled with the monorail - and still is! We most likely will be adding on Epcot (or something) next time we are at the World.

The TA job is a good balance between working and still staying home. It feels really good to be working again!

Congrats on booking the cruise and becoming a TA!
I've been thinking of doing the same thing. I may have to PM you a few questions.

Thank you!!! Feel free to PM me! I had several TAs advise me and I'd love to pass on the favor.

Congrats on the new TA job. That sounds like soooooooo muuuuuucccchhhhh FUN! I really want to be a TA!

Fun update and I loved all the videos. The monorail surprise was great. The tea cups - Yup - I started to get a little dizzy there. Thanks for that!!!!!

Fun Fun!

So far it is fun! And it's a lot of work/research! I know things will get a bit more organized and "calm" after I graduate and after I have a pattern of things. It's like that with any new job - just getting my feet wet! Thankfully I'm a Disney addict, so spending the extra time on it is completely enjoyable.

We are THRILLED with no airfare. We can already picture ourselves just hopping in a car and arriving at the port 20 minutes later. After the cruise there will be no hassle, just hop into a cab and head home. No dealing with getting to the airport or waiting on a plane. :cloud9: Plus, for everyone that doesn't live in this area, they can easily make it into a NYC trip as well! Doesn't get much better than that.

I am here! I'll have to go back and catch up but I am so happy that Henry enjoys the monorail!!!! He's too cute!

The TA job sounds so wonderful too!

Thank you again for it! We have a little something for you that we have been putting together. I think we'll be able to get it in the mail shortly after we get one more thing. It gets a LOT of play around here and we are all very grateful for it!

Congratulations! What an exciting week for you. I am certain you will love working as a Disney TA. I'd love to hear more about the process, the college of Disney knowledge etc. And how super duper exciting to have booked a cruise AND be celebrating your b-day on Castaway Cay! :yay:

Can't wait for more!!

It has been a fun week!!!!

As for becoming a TA, I emailed quite a few different companies and applied to a few of them. The one I went with was actually the first one I heard a "yes" back from - and I couldn't be happier with my choice. It's a great group of people! The Disney College of Knowledge is a course for TA's, it covers all the various Disney trips (WDW, DL, ABD, DCL and beyond) and marketing them. It's really useful and interesting. I'm enjoying it! And I'm just itchin' for a cruise, a DL trip and an ABD trip now. :rotfl:

LOL about his touring plan!!! I wonder if that was it - he just wanted to get on the rides! I wouldn't doubt it for a second. We still haven't gotten a hair cut - we have gotten past an annoying stage where it looked funny - and now it's cute and shaggy again, so I don't want to cut it! But, I have mentioned a few times about one and he's completely agreeable to it...so who knows!

The video is NOT enjoyable - you made a good choice!

Congrats to you Brook! I know you'll love being a TA! :) I do it on the side for fun but it would sure be nice to get paid for helping so many people!! lol :rotfl2:

The Disney cruise from NYC is just perfect for you guys (and others that can take advantage of the new ports). We've been really considering the Dream for next year but we'd have to give up other vacations so we'll see... ;)

Heather

That is kinda what I figured! I have helped many friends planning their trips, so why not let Disney pay me for it? Plus, I am pretty sure I have a decent market here with my Mom's Group. It's something I enjoy, something that is very helpful - especially for first timers - and it will be a nice little side income. :thumbsup2

The Dream looks amazing. I want to cruse on it this year - but that's just a dream. I've priced just about everything though!

Do you have the other playsets for the monorail too? Henry has spoken about getting the CR (though, I am pretty certain it's not made anymore) and Epcot. I'm thinking we'll add to the set on the next trip! We currently make the stops out of Legos.

Winnie the Queue! :lmao::rotfl2::worship:

I love it!

I gotta admit, I "stole" that title from a Podcast I listen to! I thought it was so clever when I saw the Podcast title that I used it! So, it's not my imagination, just my memory. :rotfl:

It really is worth the sacrifice to do something that lights up our kiddos faces, isn't it? Even if it's not really something we care about or even enjoy. Henry LOVES those cars...I don't hate them, but I would certainly skip over them if he didn't care!

And yes, missing a land is a perfect excuse for another trip!

Sounds like you had a great day at MK and yay on the sun shining!!

I am always amazed at this AWESOME community here on the DIS. Everyone is so thoughtful and giving! It's like we are one big 'ol family.

Isn't that teacup video crazy?!?!? Joe had us just whipping. :rotfl:

haha, yes, I do need a cruise! Dad's actually been looking at stuff for the London Olympics (not a cruise obviously) but the prices haven't come out yet...we are sure they're probably through the roof. Maybe if we can't do that I can suggest a Disney cruise instead. :rotfl:

There you go! A Disney cruise may seem cheap compared to London for the Olympics! But oh wow, what a trip that would be to go see the Olympics. Amazing!!!

I personally would have loved to meet Rapunzel, but I knew my boys wouldn't have enjoyed waiting. Henry would have probably liked it once we were there, but the wait....maybe next trip when she's hopefully slightly less popular!

Yes! It talks! The only thing that would make it cooler was if it said the spiel in Spanish too!

I'm not sure if I said this but: Congrats on the TA job! Sounds amazing for you, and so much fun!

Thank you sweetie!

Thank you! Potty training was a nightmare, but I'm THRILLED that the "lightbulb" went on for Henry and it all clicked at once. I do not enjoy NYC public bathrooms, but all well. I had to be in those changing diapers before...with no changing table, so this is by far easier! LOL

And thank you on the congrats! I think the key to being successful at your job is to find something you enjoy and care about. This is something I truly love to do, so far it's a perfect fit!

I understand the excitment of the monorail. I take it out of the box once a year to put it under the Christmas tree, and get excited to hear it hehe

I have never been on the teacups, and never will be. I hope lol I am not good with motion sickness. Blah! So yeah, I didn't watch the video lol

That's a great idea about putting it under the Christmas tree! Our tree is so teeny it would look hilarious under ours...but perhaps when we upgrade our tree at some point! Though, keeping Henry away from it would be impossible at this age...

Good choice on the video! The teacups can be fun if you don't spin them/don't spin a lot - but Joe loves to whip us around! Which is fun on another level, but this time...whoa!

Thank you!!! Joe has already said we are taking graduation pictures! :rotfl2: I want to do a couple super cheesy ones like our old graduation pics form high school! LOL

I would love to chat with you about the Gavelston cruises! Isn't it wonderful that they have some new choices?! I know that the Thanksgiving cruise form Gavelston is wildly popular. That would be a blast!

Henry is so sweet and polite!:)

I can't even set foot in the teacups without feeling nauseous! I watched the video (or attempted to). That lasted about 20 seconds! until I decided it may not be a good idea!!

Henry (and his parents) had a blast....that is certain!!!:woohoo:

I love the video of Henry with the monorail, he's just soooo excited!

I heard the "Welcome Song" on DIS radio, and I'm super exicted for the 4 parks 1 world CD so I can listen to it some more!

1201647399_z7cdR-L.jpg

This is a beautiful Meet & Greet area! But that line...whoooeeeee! It was always really long.

I really want to meet these two-I'm hoping that the area is open during the Halloween Party, or that the line will be relatively short in the few hours beforehand.

I truly hope this new Storybook Circus area is incredible. It sounds like it could have potential, or be a bit of a letdown. All the new stuff has been blowing my socks off, so I hope this is the case for the entire expansion too!

I feel the same way-part of me is sad about the new stuff, and part of me is kind of excited.

Despite all that, we still had a blast. Everyone was laughing and smiling. Getting slightly sick is part of the fun, right?

Amazingly enough, this video didn't make me too sick! I will never actually ride the cups though...

Just found your TR. Have only read the first installment but will read the rest later. Gotta go feed the kids. But I have to ask who was more excited about going to see Mickey in the video, Henry or Joe? Joe sounded positively giddy.

I guess you never know what will happen in between now and October but it was always pretty busy over there! I'll talk more about it in my TR but if you want to meet them plan on getting there early and waiting a while...they only take 75 people per session and there's only maybe 7 sessions a day, with the last one at 5:15 or so. It's not continuous like a lot of the other characters. But maybe they will be out for the party which would be cool.
