I was just wondering after you pick up your marriage license and the Rev. signs it and all do you have to return it to the couthouse to file or is it when you pick it up thats it you just keep it?? is it considered filed when you pick it up? do you have to go pick it up or can you mail away for it somehow? Any info would be great ;)

when we got ours done, we gave it to the reverend and he signed it and sent it off. we got the marriage certificate and the copies sent straight back to us.
ps: you're getting married on my birthday!

Your officiant will send it back to the county clerk's office for it to be certified and filed, etc. You'll receive your copy in the mail 2-3 weeks after the wedding. You'll need that to show if you are planning on changing your name.

With it being our officiates first wedding he asked us if we wanted to mail it or him...I of course felt better mailing it off myself...but we got it back with in two weeks...

Rev. Jack gave it back to us (after a pretty long argument :confused3 ) and we brought it back to the courthouse and did a "walk over" which basically meant we got it certified, etc. that way I could bring it back to NY. After we got home, we went out of the country for 2 weeks, so I felt much better about having that taken care of myself, just incase.

I was just wondering has anyone mailed away for their license, and if so how does that work? :confused3 I would just like to get as much done as possible before we go down so there is less to do when we get there :goodvibes
TIA
Joanie :cloud9:

Thank you Belle!
I can't believe we got married over a month ago, time flies FAST!!

I have Rev Jack doing my wedding because it sounded like people were glowing about him. Did you not have a good experience? Please let me know if you dont mind! I want to know if I should find someone else. Thanks!!!!

We are doing ours by mail through Brevard County Florida, it is very easy, you just send in the application, they send it back, you sign and have it notarized, then they send you the filed liscence. There is no middle man, and it comes and goes from the county clerk directly.

They charge $93.50, as opposed to one company that does it for $190.00.

Someone on here gave that tip and THANK YOU!! That saved us $100.00! :thumbsup2

She told me we would get ours in about a week! So that we don't overstep the 60 day timeframe.

You are getting so close! Are you an intimate or custom?

We're having an intimate at Sunrise Terrace at WL. The closer it gets the more excited I am! :goodvibes

I'm so happy someone mentioned the mailing process, I'd much rather enjoy all of our time at Disney then go through the wedding license experience! Besides, when we had to fill out our wedding license application in front of a notary, that was enough legality mumbo jumbo for me. ;)

As soon as I saw we could save $100.00 as opposed to the other company, I was right there! Saving time and money is always a bonus in my book! :goodvibes

I thought Disney says you have to get a marriage license from either Orange County or Osceola County? So a license from Brevard County is also valid for a Disney (Lake Buena Vista) marriage?

I was just researching the idea of getting a license by mail. Both officiants I inquired for ceremony services offer the option of marriage license by mail for a $100 fee or so. I thought the bride and groom had to be present at the court house to pick up a license. If an officiant can do it for you without you being there, then what are they doing that we can't do ourselves?

I inquired to an Orange Country office whether I could apply for a license by mail and they said no. I hadn't gotten around to asking Osceola County, probably because their licenses cost more money.

We're arriving three days early before the wedding so there's plenty of time to get a license, hair and make-up trial run, any lost luggage to show up  and just relax.

EDIT:
Okay, never mind, I found the answer to my own question on Disney's web site. There are just so many planning details I can't remember everything I've come across. Disney only mentions the Orange and Osceola county courthouses, so I somehow thought we needed to get it from one or the other county.

Florida Marriage License Requirements:

Couples wishing to be married must obtain a marriage license at any County Courthouse in the State of Florida for use anywhere in the State of Florida. Blood tests are not required. Proper id entification is necessary, such as a driver’s license, certified copy of birth certificate, or passport. If a previous marriage ended in divorce within the past twelve (12) months outside the State of Florida, a copy of the divorce decree is required prior to the wedding ceremony.

There is no waiting period for out of state residents. A three (3) day waiting period is necessary for Florida Residents. The cost of the marriage license is $102.50 (subject to change without notice) payable by cash or money order. The marriage license will be issued at time of application, is valid immediately (with the exception of the three day waiting period for Florida Residents) and must be used within sixty (60) days. (Some Florida counties require a marriage license to be used within thirty days of issuance).

The Osceola and Orange County Courthouses are open Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm EST, excluding holidays. The courthouses will be closed on certain holidays throughout the year. We recommend calling ahead of time to verify hours of operation.

Just so you know, for $10 more you can purchase a commemorative Orlando, FL ML in addition to the regular one. It is not official, but one of the images on it is the Earful tower from MGM Studios! We got it just because it had a little Disney Magic to it!:goodvibes

I am getting married March 18th. If I apply now through Brevard County do you think I would get the license in time before we leave? It would save alot of time.
We would have to get it notorized in PA corrrect and send it back and wait for the official license? Once we are married down the officiant signs it to make if official can we send it back to Oceola County or does it have to be Brevard country?

How do you get the FL ML for $10?

sorry to be silly but do you take your license away once you are married? We are hopefully flying to the caribbean for our honeymoon and our hotel will want to see our marriage certificate so we can get all the free honeymoon stuff!
