Have any of you out-of-states brides done this through Brevard County yourself? How long did it take? I just don't see hiring someone else to do something I can do myself...but I don't know how much hassel it will end up being. Thank you!

Yep! I did it myself and it wasn't much of a hassle at all. I think I started about 60 days out?? I sent in the forms printed off of the website that you get right here: Marriage License Mail Away Info. Make sure to click on the PDF link and not the box that says view forms. I sent those forms in, and received back our license application along with another form we had to sign. My husband and I went to our bank to have the application notorized after work (our bank is open later on fridays and it's free to have documents notorized.) and mailed it back. They sent the notorized copy back with their notorization as well and then we brought that to our wedding. We gave that to our officiant and he signed it (and notorized it maybe?) and sent it in. I recived our actual license in the mail about 2-3 weeks after the wedding. It's a lot of back and forth, but really not too difficult!!

Yeah, what she said. :) It is pretty easy and I think the form has your wedding date on it so they are pretty good about getting back to you what you need when you need it.

We got ours done thought the mail and it went fine. Excpet we are in Cal and we couldn't get any one to noterize it. We had to go to Navada. There is a new law in Cal and it messed things up.

Thanks for the responses, it dosen't sound too difficult, and worth saving the $. It's funny, because I called Orange County (where WDW is) and they said you HAD to come in person. Good thing you can use a license from a different county!

It is so easy..a lot of back and forth like Wendy said but it is no big deal.

:) exactly, I sent my notarized forms the day before the 4th of July (on a Thursday) and I got mine on Tuesday or Wednesday (can't recall which) it was SO fast! I too am glad I didn't spent the extra money. Brides need to save cash everywhere they can ;)
The worst part was having the forms notarized! Brevard was fast and professional, but the whole getting to the notary in time was a royal pain! It was a great bonding experience for DF and I though.:lovestruc We were late and missed her multiple times! Best tip I got was from the Brevard clerk who told me the main reason for delay is mistakes on the notary forms. Read them through and get them done right and you'll be fine;)

We did it this way too, but thought it may be cutting the time to get the licence back to us a bit short because we were leaving the UK 9 days before the actual wedding so we OK'ed things with our co-ordinater and got them to send the licence straight to her. This really simplified things for us, and Karen emailed me a copy of the licence once she received it which was within a couple of days of the request. It was great knowing such an important piece of paper was already in the hands of our co-ordinater!
