not according to the DIS.......

We have worked hard to keep the DISboards a place where people can discuss any topic as long as it's not illegal or profane, and as long as the participants can behave respectfully. Unfortunately, politics and religion often seem to bring out the worst behavior in people. Even normally polite posters find these topics pushing their hot buttons, and frequently lose their cool.

This past election season has been especially bad, and the rudeness and sniping between various groups has alienated posters and exhausted our moderators.

As a result, we are announcing a new policy on the DISboards, effective immediately: POLITICS AND RELIGION are no longer acceptable topics of discussion here.

This also will extend to signatures: no political statements, logos, or slogans are permitted in signatures.

Posts and threads of a political or religious nature will be locked or deleted, and are not to be restarted. We will also be updating our site guidelines to reflect this policy.

There are many sites on the web that welcome discussion and debate of a political or religious nature, but we feel that removing these topics from the DISboards altogether is in the best interests of our members. Thank you for your support and cooperation.

As you can imagine this same question was asked (quite a few times) when the new rule was first put into place.
I remember posting a verse like this before I had read the new policy (I felt bad, because I didn't want to cause a problem). Quite a bit of debate quickly followed, but to make a long story short, WebmasterAlex gave the last word on it. He said that the new rule was put into place to help rid the Dis of controversial posts and arguments (pretty much all political and most religious posts), but he said that posting a verse (even though it definitely is religious in nature) was not a controversially or religious debatable post, and that he would allow it. Kind of like posting a nice thought of the day.
I do understand your question about it, considering the change that was made to the DIS a while back, but it actually has been given the green light from the Administration.

Yes, there was a public thread about this. It was actually quite long, but it was eventually closed down by Webmaster Alex after he said that he made the decision to allow these posts.

I don't have a link to it, but I imagine that it is still out there somewhere (I think you can still link to closed threads, although I'm not positive). It began and ended right about the time the policy change was made, so if you remember that date, it might help in tracking down the thread.

I believe there was also another thread very similar that was quite a bit longer where Alex talked about the policy itself (of course my memory isn't what it used to be so I could be mistaken, but I do believe that there was).
