My DS8 currently has a Gameboy Advance but he will be getting a DS Lite for Christmas. He has Mario Kart for GBA and I know that he can play GBA games on the DS, but I was wondering if there is a difference between Mario Kart for DS vs the GBA version. He keeps saying that he wants Mario Kart for his DS...I have no problem getting the DS version if it is a different/better version than the GBA version. On the other hand, it would be a waste if they are the same or very similar.

Anyone know?? Thanks in advance.....

I think they are pretty similar. Just a note: Not ALL GBA games play on the DS. Those that do play on only one screen of the DS (which has an upper and lower screen).

Personally, I would get a different game.

I am really not familiar with the DS at all - are you saying that the DS version of any game would be better on the DS because it uses both screens for the game?

Thanks again...

The Mario Kart games for the different systems have new tracks for each game - I think it's eight new tracks for each game. However, they also include some tracks from some of the older games. For example, the Mario Kart game for the Wii has some tracks from the DS game, Mario Kart 64, etc. Each game is different so I would get him the one for the DS. We got the one for the DS and we already owned the one for the Wii. HTH :)

There are absolutely no similarities other than the fact they both involve driving go karts with Nintendo characters.

100% different games.

Definitely gowith the one for the DS. My ds is getting a DS this year and he wants MarioKart for it. He does already have it for his Gameboy but he said there are some differences. Also, you can play with multiple players with teh DS and you only need one cartridge. That works great for us since dd also had it on her list :)
