Marie's New Years Resolution~in July

Congrats on keeping up with your walking! So what if you aren't running, at least you are out there doing SOMETHING!

No running last night, and had to limit the walk to 1 1/2 miles...too friggin hot!!! Like breathing water!! DH did run 3/4 of a mile, but was drained afterwards! I told him it's not worth passing out over!
Still no sweet tea!!! :woohoo:
Been drinking the heck out of some water, but not enough...only getting in about 64 oz a day...should be more.
Didn't get to the attic last night..had a FAMILY MEETING. Told the kids that school starts Monday, and the new rules start now!! DH backed me 100% on this...they each have their chores, and are responsible for picking up their stuff....nothing unusual, but it just wasn't enforced before. Now it will be. $5 a week allowance, and if I have to pick up their stuff, it gets thrown away, and no allowance for the week. Not unreasonable in my opinoin. We'll see what happens. Also, they are responsible for taking care of the animals. If the dog doesn't get fresh water, then neither do they!! You can have your breakfast after you feed the dog/cat....they can't get it themselves, they don't have thumbs!!

Yes, I know, I'm a mean mommy....deal with it!!

I'll bet your kids are cursing me for taking away your sweet tea....you've lost your sweetness with them!! :rotfl: You know I'm just kidding.

Seriously, you're doing great on your challenge. I'm so proud of you! :woohoo:

Oh, and when you're done whipping your kids into shape...hop on a plane & help with mine!

I'll check back in a couple weeks and see how many of your rules are still in effect! :rotfl: That always happens to us - the rules work for about a week then we are all done with them...

Maybe when you move you can get a house with an exercise room and get a treadmill. No more weather excuses then!

Marie, just putting my 2cts in on the kids chores/duties. :thumbsup2 Stick to your guns! Chores build character! Most of my boys friends have no responsibilities at all...it makes me nuts! Mine has always had some sort of chores. In the summer he has a list every day, very detailed tho. He never responded well to "clean your room" I have to write on the list...pick up the clothes off the floor, take everything off the table, dust the table...put everything back on the table neatly....etc. What can I say...he's a boy....short attention span.

A little idea that I use as well (reference allowance). Starting in 6th grade he would get 20$ per week for doing everything on the list. He would then have to decide whether he wanted to buy lunch at school or save the money. If he decided to take his lunch he would have to make it himself. The decision was completely his, but he got no money for food or snacks except the 20$. If he didnt do the stuff on the list he got no money ...and had to take his lunch whether he wanted to or not. In middle school they have "choices" for lunch and can buy ala carte items...it gets expensive. He could easily spend almost the whole 20$ on food if he is too lazy to make his lunch. Just a little economics lesson that works like a charm.

Mean Moms are the best!

:hippie:

Hi, Marie! :wave2:

I made it over to read your journal the other day and then life pulled me away before I could post. :sad2:

You have been doing AWESOME on your sweet tea challenge!! :cheer2: :cheer2: You are SO WAY better than I am. I do very well until I go out to eat then all will power flies out the window. I did want to thank you and Kim though! Because of your sweet tea challenge, I have cut out Most of my sweet tea and cut back to only one glass when I eat out instead of the endless refills that I used to get. So THANKS for the inspiration! Keep up the good work!

You are doing really good on your exercise also! I am amazed that you are able to do even 2 miles in this heat! You go girl! :yay:

I think your chores for your kids are reasonable and good for teaching them responsibility. Don't back down! I also love Linda's idea about the lunch thing! When I was in high school my mom gave me lunch money everyday even though I told her that I wasn't going to eat. I always skipped lunch and saved the money... not the best health choice, but I had extra money :thumbsup2

Hope you are having a Great weekend! :sunny:

Man o man, what a weekend!!! I'm ready to go back to work tomorrow so I can get some rest!!! Started off cleaning house yesterday...then had to run a bunch of errands...return stuff....then I had a wedding to shoot...supposed to be from 2-7....wound up being 2-9:30!! The place that was holding the reception's A/C went out...it was awful!!! I got the pictures of the cake before it completely collapsed!! Also, the bride and groom were stuck in traffic for 30+ minutes....some nutcase  was thinking about jumping off the bridge over the interstate and they had to close it off going in both directions!! The guy driving them finally did a U-turn in the median and found a different route to take!! I told the bride when they got there not to rush...I'd be there until they told me I could go...I figured she had had enough stress. The entire family was really thankful...(yeah me!!!)
Then today was DD's b-day party. DH got called out to help another officer, so it was just me, DS10 pirate: and 6 little 7 yr old girls!!!
princess: princess: princess: princess: princess: princess:
We went to Libby Lu!!! It was SOOOO MUCH FUNNNNN!!!!! people in the mall stopped and watched them do their dances and stuff....some even joined in!!! My photog boss came and took pictures....he let me be a mom today instead of a photographer!!! He took about 275 pictures!!!
I have no idea what I ate this weekend....it wasn't too bad... a chicken salad sandwich yesterday....water...lemonade....1/2 piece of strawberry wedding cake.....1/2 ham sandwich today...water.... 1 small square of giant b-day cookie (instead of cake).....I'm sure there's more....but who knows right now! I have to get busy and download these pictures before I fall asleep!!

talk to ya'll later!!
marie

Happy b-day to DD! :bday: I was lucky this year, both kids wanted their parties at the house. It's much less stressful that way, just throw them in the pool, make sure no one drowns, feed 'em then they leave! :thumbsup2

Great job being so patient at the wedding. That is something that will definitely come into play when that bride recommends your services to her friends!

Wow, Marie! I thought I had a busy weekend! You are super woman!

HAPPPY BIRTHDAY to your DD! How exciting for her! What kind of place is Libby Lu? We Yankees don't have them!

Doing GREAT with the sweet tea!!! Keep it up girlie - you're making it look easy!

Libby Lu is a GIRLS ONLY place.....they do their hair...some glittery makeup....dress them up like hoochie mama's and they get to dance and sing out in the mall area!!! It was a BLAST!! My boss took about 200+ pictures...I'll post a few of them later...I haven't even had a chance to download them yet!! Gonna make one heck of a scrapbook page(s)!!

Today sucked. Let's just leave it at that...ok.
I had a coke....chinese for lunch.....only one bottle of water...didn't walk, or run...cleaned up the garage instead...also started moving stuff around in the attic....brought some down to toss....some to sell.....I need HELP!!!! I know I have to do it...I just don't feel like it. I want to snap my fingers and make it all magically go away!!! Yes, I'm feeling sorry for myself!! DH asked me what was wrong, and I said, for once, I don't know where to start!! Normally I'm a very organized person, but now.... :confused3 I'm just blah!!! My bedroom is a disaster zone....so is my office....and I don't care!!! I think I need another happy pill.....

and kimmy.....no, the sweet tea isn't easy at all....I haven't lost any weight, i'm cranky and hormonal, and no, it's not PMS...it's just me!!! oh, i did weigh myself this morning.....160...WTH??? :furious:
I quit.

ok...gonna lie down on the floor with my dog....he understands me....I think.

Nope, sorry. No quitting. You can handle whatever comes your way....you're a MOM. That's what we do. Lean on us as much as you want, we're here for ya!

Don't even worry about the weigh-ins right now. You are super busy and have so much going on. Just do the best you can, that's all any of us can do!

No quitting! I gained 9 lbs on vacation and havent lost an ounce of it back! If I cant quit you cant quit! I thought Id be done by now, now I think maybe by christmas if Im lucky!

ok....i won't quit....but i'm not gonna weigh anymore either.
i'm tired guys......stressed out....fed up....and tired.
I got cut off three times this morning....WHILE DROPPING THE KIDS OFF AT SCHOOL!!! I finally rolled down my window and yelled at the JABBA THE HUT woman who about took off my front bumper! Not cool, I know, but come on people! We all have kids that need to get to the same place....no need to crush my vehicle because your precious child needs to be out first!! I told the kids that I would find a drop off point and they could walk from there....I'm not gonna deal w/ the stupid's before I get to work every morning!! The kids think that would be cool to walk a block to school.
Also, the kids are really doing good w/ their chores. DD keeps forgetting to feed the cat, so I told her, the cat eats before you do....seems to help her remember. DS is doing really good w/ his chores and exercises! I'm really proud of him. DH and I talked last night....I'm going to start the Couch to 5K program w/ DS tonight. He's gonna hate it...but he'll come around.
Just rambling this morning....been a long day already and it's only 10 am.

 marie

Didn't you get the memo....today is TUESDAY....NOT Monday!! What you described sounds like a rotten Monday to me. ;)

I'm sorry about the crazy southern drivers...you know, up north...we're all perfectly courteous! :rotfl: I'm sorry to make light of your day...I know it was crappy. I'm just trying to make you SMILE, my little ray of sunshine! :sunny:

Great job with the chores! I created a list but never implemented it! I'm hoping when we get back from vacation that we'll settle in to more of a routine (or maybe when school finally starts again)...and then I will get them going with the chores. If it doesn't work out for me, I'm flying you up here to help me out, k?

Good luck with the couch to 5K program. I love that your going to get your DS involved too! :moped:

I hope the rest of your day goes better than your morning.

You have some company down in the dumps. The last couple days have been crap for me too! But this too shall pass...

I'm glad the kids are doing what they are supposed to. It always makes things so much easier to handle when there is no kid-related stress!

Hang in there, you will start feeling better about things soon! :wizard:

ok...so no....we didn't workout last night. dh had to work late (got him some BAAAAAAD GUYYYSS! )
After I picked up the kids @ school, we went and got some groceries...fruit, veggies, cheese, yogurt.....good stuff for lunches! I also got some stuffed salmon & talapia...baked that for dinner....SOOOOOO GOOOOD!!! DS loved the salmon....dd wasn't too fond of either....she's still in the fishsticks are food phase. So anyway, by the time we finished dinner, homework, and showers, it was after 8, and I still had to get stuff ready for today (set clothes out, iron etc) I told dh that we would be doing our program tonight instead. I also didn't get into the attic....gonna have to really hit it hard tonight and tomorrow night!
so...nothing new going on here....dh dropped the kids off at school this morning, so I didn't have to yell at anyone...

hopefully I'll stay in a decent mood today....I really hate it when people piss me off....just makes for a sucky day.

My kids are the same - DS loves salmon and shrimp, DD will only eat fish sticks... I'm hoping she grows out of that phase within the next couple years!

Hope you get a chance to work out tonight! :wizard:

yesterday.....

walked 2 miles - check
cleaned out attic - check
drank water - 64 oz - check
ate decent food - check
didn't yell at anyone, or threaten to kill anyone-check

tonight dh & ds has soccer practice, so I am going to focus on getting the garage sale set up...should take the better part of tonight and tomorrow....
gotta put an ad in the paper too....GONNA BE A BIG ONE!!!

ok....gotta get back to work....

later

Hey, Marie!

Way to Go on your check off list for yesterday! :cheer2: You done good! :cool1:

I see in your siggie that you are 27 days into your 30 day challenge!! :cheer2: What is your plan for the 31st day? And it better not be a gallon of tea! Just think about the fact that you have made it this far. I think you can do a once a day w/ meals or every couple of days now. :)

Sorry to hear you were having a down in the dumps start to your week. I did too, I think it is something in the air sometimes, cause a lot of us seem to hit the dumps around the same time. You are doing great though! You are a busy woman and you do a wonderful job of balancing all of your duties! Hang in there! You can do it! :cheer2:

Have a good day! :sunny:

Nope, not a gallon.....2 gallons!!!
The thing that really stinks is that I'm having a garage sale saturday, and it would be so nice to sit out there in the heat with a BIG OL' GLASS OF SWEET TEA!!! but the challenge isn't done until Sunday..... :sad2:

oh well, i'll make it!!
