Do they have a store at the restaurant? My kids don't know Jimmy Buffet, so I'm thinking of buying a CD so that they are familiar with his music before our visit there.

What do you think??? :scratchin

Yes, they have a great store there. Sure! Buy a CD that should add to the experience.:)

We ate there recently. My kids had no idea who Jimmy Buffet was before we went and they could care less. They still had a great time. They especially loved the erupting volcano! The atmosphere was a lot of fun for them. And if you like Chicken Caesar Salads, I *highly* recommend you get one there! They had the best one I ever ate! :thumbsup2

Yes, it is very unfortunate that they have a store. :cool1:

And even more unfortunate that they have a huge selection of very cool stuff :goodvibes

Kind of makes that dinner bill rise astronomically.

Anyway, they have a nice multi disk set of the entire collection of Buffet songs, separated by "beach", "bar", etc.

But getting the disk is not necessary to introduce the kids to his music, as there are very large screens around the restaurant showing videos of Buffet in various concerts and venues.

we went to Margaritaville this past trip to Universal(which we came back from yesterday) and really enjoyed it. The food is good, the atmosphere is nice, and the volcano was very exciting! the staff wes friendly and courteous, but my niece is now a juvenile delinquent for writing on the walls there.

:woohoo: My daughter will be so happy...she's an expert on Chicken Caesar Salads!!! Thanks for the info!!!
Would you recommend a particular area to sit???
I can't wait!!!

Try to sit in perfect view of the volcano. This past trip, my parents and I had a table next to the surfboards on the lower level (near the bar with all the animals hanging from the ceiling) because I wanted to video tape the volcano (well, we didn't request that table, it just happened to be open). In short, any table in perfect view of the volcano will be perfect.

We are going to USO for the first time in early Oct. and can't wait to try Margaritaville. My sons 8 & 13 didn't know who Buffet was so we got a greatest hits CD and we play it in the car on long trips. Now they are even more excited and know the music. Have a great trip!

Agree, the kids don't need to know the music to appreciate the restaurant. Live videos play on the screens over head. The food is great. I wouldn't call it gormet or anything, but typical restaurant food along the lines of a TGIFridays or Chilis. Stick with simple foods like the Cheeseburger in Paradise, pasta dishes, and Quesedias.

I bought the Jimmy Buffet's Meet Me in Margaritaville CD last week. When I played "Fruitcakes" for ds7, he declared it was the DUMBEST song he has ever heard!! Kind of has to grow on you!!

For kids.....I reccommend The Parakeet Album, songs of Jimmy Buffett. It is buffett songs sung by kids (and some words changed, cleaned up a little) Its available at amazon.com for 12.98. There are also some kids books by jimmy buffett. Jolly Mon is a good one.
Heres the songs on the parakeet album:

1. Christmas In The Caribbean
2. Volcano
3. La Vie Dansante
4. Jolly Mon Sing
5. Little Miss Magic
6. Cheeseburger In Paradise
7. Off To See The Lizard
8. Chanson Pour Les Petits Enfants
9. Come To The Moon
10. Delaney Talks To Statues

My family of 4 just got back from a 6 night stay and I explained to the kids that Margaritaville was something mom and I wanted to do. The boys (7 and 9) were fine with this especially when the volcano erutpted. The kids knews the words to the songs better than the wife and I did! Guess those "Friday-night sing-alongs" paid off! Your kids will love it - buy a CD at Walmart before you go!

We were at UO for 5 days and ended up eating at Margaritaville twice! The food was delicious and the kid's portions were very generous! We had a perfect view of the volcano from our table and a great experience! Not being a "t-shirt" souvenir person, I bought myself the "Lost Shaker of Salt" instead! You have to look for them, they are on the left END of the registers!

we just got back and ate at margaritaville around 11 pm at night. We forgot all about the volcano. we sat where there was a band playing inside. We sat on the second floor. We ordered margaritas and volcano nachos and oh my gosh they were huge. We could not even finish them. Those were the huge and biggest pile of nachos that I have ever seen. It had everything on them.
:teeth:
