Slightly on topic, but does anyone know the usual time the parades themselves start?
Not sure if it's just a typo and you meant to say Feb? If so, disregard. But if not, NeYo is actually there Feb 11. UB40 will be there March 11. I know because I switched myself when the schedule came out: I didn't really have much interest in seeing NeYo either. My DD14 is so bummed. We are going March 11 and she has no desire to see the act performing then- Ne Yo. however, she absolutely loves AAR, so she is devastated they are going to be there after we leave!

This is our first time at Mardi Gras and by coincidence, Trace Adkins, who we love, will the concert on Saturday night. Can someone explain how this whole thing works? The parade starts at 6:45 and then at the end the concert starts? Is that right? The concert lasts until the park closes ? Any information would be great - Thank you!
Unless something has changed, it starts and ends by the horror makeup show.Anyone happen to know where the parade concludes? I snagged a spot on a float -yay!)but I was originally going that night to catch the particular concert act: will I be way at the other end of the park or could I feasibly get near the concert by the time it starts? I don't need a clear view...just want to hear the music reasonably well.

The park closes at 9PM on Saturday so people will continue to enter until that time. Concerts often last past park closing. All the rides and most restaurants will close once the park closes leaving the food carts and a few shops open. Because of where the concert is located, you will have to decide if you want to get a good spot for the concert or the parade. It's a complete cluster but if you want a good standing room only spot close to the stage you won't see the parade...or if you are more interested in the parade you'll have to watch the concert on the big screens...which is fine. I rarely stay for the concert because of the sheer number of people and Universal's inept crowd control. Don't stay until the end...you will never get out of the garage. This is our first time at Mardi Gras and by coincidence, Trace Adkins, who we love, will the concert on Saturday night. In my experience - for all intents and purposes, the park is closed when the parade starts. The parade concludes and the concert begins on the main stage. Sometimes if you are watching from the back of the park (e.g. near Beetlejuice) then you will miss the first couple of songs by the time you walk to the stage area.
Most people stake out their spots to either get a good view of the parade or a good view of the concert. It's hard to do both. My happy medium is usually watching from near Monsters Cafe through to the Macy's building - and then just walking up to the concert area and viewing it from the outer perimeter. It's all good fun.
Hope that helps! Have a great time. We saw Trace a few years ago and he was awesome. I've got a great video of him singing Honky Tonk Badonkadonk!![]()
