March

The weather is fickle. We've been a couple times the last week of February and the first day or two of March, and it's either 80 or 40. There's no in between. At least that's how our luck has been. But then there are weeks where it's 80 everyday. It's really hit or miss.
Don't know about the crowds, but the beginning of the month is probably just before Spring Break, so they shouldn't be that bad.

Early March is our favorite time to go!

But it's also somewhat unpredictable, especially the weather. We've needed shorts and sweatshirts for the same trip! So we usually pack layers - shorts, jeans, t-shirts, and sweatshirts.

The crowds seem to be heavier than Jan. and Feb. but much lighter than summer. Crowd size seems to depend on when Easter is because many schools base their Spring Breaks on Easter. Ours is the first full week in March no matter when Easter is so that's why we've gone at that time so often.

All in all, I think both the weather and the crowds are much better than summer! But if you can go in Jan. or Feb. the crowds are even less (except President's Day weekend).

We've made 3 trips that were either the first or second week in March. Only once did we have an afternoon rain shower but it didn't last long. Most days, t-shirts were fine (with maybe a light jacket for mornings/night);although, one day we started out wearing tees & a cold front came through in late afternoon. It got very windy & COLD in a hurry so we wound up buying sweatshirts from a vendor stand in Epcot. In March of this year, a couple of mornings were pretty nippy so we wore sweatshirts over tees & just pulled the sw/shirts off when it warmed up. When the sun set, it felt good to put them on again!

As for crowds, not bad at all during this time. We were able to walk on most rides a few years ago but this year the crowds seemed bigger. By using FP, we still didn't have to wait for rides though.

in '03 I went march 5-12. Had great weather and the crowds were low until Monay the 10th. Then, every springbreaker arrived at WDW and it was PACKED.

This year, I went 2/26 - 3/5 (had to make the trip in before my AP expired) and the weather started off freezing. The high on my first full day there was 50 degrees. However, in a couple of days, it was up to 80 and remained gorgeous from there on out. Crowds also were not a factor at all.

We arrived on the 10th this year and it was quite chilly, but everyday after that through the 21st was perfect. We swam everyday and did the water parks 3 days. There was only 1 day of rain!

My family almost always goes in March. Coming from the Northeast, we all have "cabin fever" by this time after a long New England winter. I'm not sure if it's just plain luck but we've always had great weather and the crowds are manageable. Also, one year my DD (then 7 yrs. old) was chosen to be in the Disney Easter Parade and ended up being on t.v and meeting Ben Savage who was hosting the parade that year. She was SOOOOO excited!

We've done the first full week in March 3 or 4 times and while there was one morning low of 49 degrees and one chilly Illuminations Cruise, I've never had a day when I needed long pants and we had only one half day lost to rain. I'd call the crowds moderate, but they seemed to grow as the week went on for each stay. Use EE and FastPass and you'll do fine. I don't think we've had a week in March without multiple 80 + days.
