March 6th.05 Sunday 7:10am No AP Discount!

Bucknaked (LOL at your name!)

Awww...you are really bumming me out! No FL resident rates????? :sad2:

I meant "careful", because they may tick a group of loyal Disney goers (AP holders and FL residents).

honestly, it wouldn't be the first time. i think disney knows that ap holders for the most part are going to keep coming unless disney does something really bad. not offering ap codes wouldn't prevent me from going to disney.

I just called before I read this thread and they said that there is "a chance that the codes won't come out until this current promotion ends on April 16th" Oh, say it isn't so!!!!

I'll be watching this thread - will someone post if they knwo differently, please? This is our first time trying to stay onsite and with footing the bill for our entire party of 8, we need discounts.

That's why I also said...Disney is a business :)
I guess that's why I'm not in the business sector. I'd be too worried about the feelings and self-esteem of my loyal followers :)

And, I'm going anyway. I just don't want people to fall into a deep code-less depression :)

I saw that on another board. I think I posted in on the May/June code watch thread.

Edit: I think they will wait as long as possible to release them. Planes tickets will be bought and there will be no way of backing out for many people.

I am waiting for codes for a possible May 20 - 25 trip. We haven't made our reservations yet & will make our final go/no-go decision in a couple weeks (regardless of codes, although our fingers are crossed)!

I'M NOT FLAMING anyone, but I'm curious about something. It seems that so many people already have their reservations & plan to apply the codes if/when they are released. Doesn't this just lessen our chances of getting codes.........Disney just sees that lots of rooms are already booked when they go to make a decision on codes, right? I'm not blaming anyone who does this. If I knew for sure we could go in May, maybe I would do the same.

But, does this practice have an impact on our chances?

I think it does as do many others. I have plane tickets and I will go regardless so I have to have a room where we want to stay. If they don't release codes, I guess Disney will have some data on what happens to occupancy rates if codes aren't released.

I'm going whether or not there is a code. I plan what I can afford, book it, and if a code is released - wonderful! If not, I'm not spending more than I can afford, so I just accept it and move on. I never count on codes.

My attitude about money is - you can't take it with you! Might as well have some fun now! :cool1:

And I cannot think of a better place to part with my cash :Pinkbounc

Good point Eeyorelover22. I guess if they see a lot of cancellations (which I doubt), they'll know how many people rely on codes as a decision-maker for their trip.

**WLL hanging head in shame**

Yes...I have thought about that...but it is such a Catch 22. I am afraid if I wait for codes, I will not be able to get a room. eeyore makes a good point about WDW keeping data on cancellations and such.

Wouldn't you love to know if Disney has an estimate on what percentage of people drop ressies if codes are not forthcoming? I would like to know that number just out of curiosity.

I don't know b/c I don't fly, but even those with flight ressies...I know that they can't cancel their flights (or whatever), but can't they still come and change to stay offsite?

I'm giving up and codes and I'm going to try to win the trip on the radio :) do you suppose I'd get in trouble if I stop teaching Trig to my students and fly to the phone to try to be the 50th caller after I hear the airplane take off sound? I could claim temporary Disney insanity :)

I don't know if they have that data...they have more rooms to fill than before when people say codes weren't around as much (before 2000) and it's been a while since there were no codes. There weren't any AP rates in Sept one year when they had the 7 for 4 deal, but Sept isn't as busy a time like the summer months. I found it very interesing when people moved from Universal to Disney when US had no resort discounts and Disney did. This was for spring break time frame.

I'm not sure what you mean here, but I don't think this is an issue. If there are no rooms at, say, AKL when codes come out (I know, unlikely, but still...) then the code will not apply there, as there won't be enough inventory. So, you'd end up having to move resorts anyway if you really want to use the code. Likewise, if there are no rooms anywhere, then there won't be any codes either, since they aren't needed to move unsold inventory. If a code comes out, it's because there are empty rooms *somewhere*, and if you are willing to be flexible, you'll be able to get it.

My strategy has been to book the room I am willing to pay for with AAA. If codes come out, I can think about either saving some more $$, or upgrading my room.

I generally only worry about this during Value and Regular seasons for our long-weekend trips; that's also a good time to find codes, even at the last minute.

We also go for a week during peak (to escape the miserable winter weather) and then it's almost always a better value proposition for us to stay in a pool home offsite. We're there long enough that the extra commute time isn't a hassle, and this year we got an entire pool home for what a single Value Resort room would have cost us even after applying the AP discount.

Since CMs all seem to say something different, you can take this for what it's worth...but I just spoke to a CM that said they're being told that FL resident codes "probably" won't be available this year. She also said that they are expecting AP codes any day now.

Now, I heard very differently. I heard that Fl resident rates will be available first like they ususally are and that there may not be AP rates.

With the amount of people out there who have no idea what a code is, I don't think people booking trips hoping for a code could make that much of an impact. For all of us on Disboards, there are hundreds, thousands of people who don't look at boards and who aren't as knowledgable as we are. At least I would guess that we represent a small percentage of rooms. That being said, I book what we want and we'll still go with our current rate if something better doesn't come out.

I think that Disney could release Fl Resident rates late depending on bookings. They would be looking for folks who could make "last minute" trips and face it those of us who live 1,000 miles away aren't your normal "Oh there's a good rate, lets go this weekend" But if I lived a few hours by car.....

There might be some cancellations, but the other factor is that Universal Discounts appear down. This past weekend the Comfort Inn LBV was $79 a night!!! Sounds like they are faily busy. (There is no way I would pay $79 for that hotel!)

We will go whether there are codes or not. I booked a package with AAA discount. If codes are released within the next days, and they are good enough for us to upgrade to AKL or WL, then I will switch our ressies to a room only discount. If codes don't come out, we're still going with the package discount. Airfare is booked already, so there is no backing out. We always book something we can afford, then upgrade if codes become available. :)

Brian Noble- I see your point...I guess I just get swept up in the frenzy when I see on these boards "no availability at 'such and such' resort for 'such and such' dates."

cjsmith-I hope you are right!
