Family of 13 excited for our first DCL trip. We will have 2-16 year old boys, 1-14 year old boy, 1-12 year old girl, 1-9 year old girl, 1-8 year old boy, 1-5 year and 1-2 year old. I am new to this site and would love any insight or tips! Look forward to meeting or talking with you. We are from Louisville, Kentucky.

My son (7) and I (DH) will be setting sail on our first DCL. I wanted to find out if there were any other single parents going that may have kids in my sons age range.

If there is any additional insight on things I should know please don't hesitate to mention them.

I realize that I missed the FE, but wanted to say that I think it's a great idea.

I waffled on the FE until it was too late, but I think if we get enough late comers, we can form another group. I'm not sure if Daniel is keeping a waiting list or else we can just start one ourselves.

My DS (about to be 10) and DD (13) also love it. Did you see my post on facebook about pin trading? Be sure to check the schedule for pin trading with the officers.

Lol!I did read the thread and realized after I posted that I had already responded to it! (yes, the memory is slipping!)
I think I was formulating an idea about having the kids pin trade between them. We did the officer trading and pin board trading, but the more, the merrier! It would be cool for the kids to hook up at some point to swap, too. I'm all about the "memory making", and I think it would be a cool momento to have a pin from the friend you met on the cruise. Thinking I may bring some from this area for my kids to give away (a non disney pin from our state if I can snag some)

That's a great idea. Remind me of your kids and which Carolina are you from? (I am having a hard time keeping track of folks between facebook and here!)
We are outside Charlotte. My kids are DD 13 and DS turns 10 in about 6 weeks!

Our excursions: (The Davis fam- me, DH, DD 8, DS 11)
Grand cayman - island tour and snorkel With the stingrays
Costa maya- Catamaran & Snorkel
Cozumel- Off Road Adventure to Jade Caverns
Last year (St. Thomas, St. Maarten), we did a non-Disney excursion in St. Maarten reccomended by disboarders. It was awesome! However, our St. Thomas excursion which was a Disney excursion (pirate ship adventure, snorkel with turtles, private island beach break..) was FANTASTIC- but it came back LATE! We were literally the last people back on the ship. The metal (gangplank?- lol) was pulled up as soon as my sneaker hit the ship. If the excursion hadn't been Disney, we'd have been out of luck. This year, ALL our excursions are through Disney.

Yike! That is a good reason to book with Disney.

I have not booked any excursions. I really want to book a jetski snorkeling excursion at Grand Cayman, but we have to tender and our port time is about 5 hours. I am thinking I am better off booking something else with Disney. I also want to do a Dolphin swim, but I am the only one in the family who wants to do it.

yes a short time on the cayman's made us book the dolphin and turtle farm thru disney. i got voted down on the stingrays. you can always do jet skis on castaway cay

I need your stateroom number, DIS name, breakdown of stateroom occupants (including whatever you are comfortable with such as ages, names, family name), any celebrations, any important info (such as favorite characters, likes/dislikes, allergies to avoid serious whoopsies) and an email address to send the list to. Sammy, I'm putting together a mini-group for FE latecomers. If you want to go ahead and send me your info, I'll be able to keep the list up to date if you wish to participate.

It's Bieber fever in Charlotte for us here too - wish me luck, taking Diana and 2 friends (all almost 13) to the concert.in.just.11.more.days....yes, the countdown began something like 8 months ago and I've been hearing about it ever since!
