I was on this sailing but never got around to getting active on this thread. I was sitting on the edge of the Donald pool when little Chase was lifted out of the water. I know how hard it was for me to see what I saw, but know that those passengers who performed CPR on him and who worked so hard to save him must be having even harder of a time. (And I read on another thread that an 8 year old found him underwater - I can't imagine what that poor child is going through too.).
Any way, on the chance that anyone on this thread was involved in saving Chase, I wanted to say a couple things. First off, I want to offer prayers for peace and emotional healing for you, because I know you must be dealing with a lot. But I also wanted to commend those passengers who were the first responders. When I saw Chase being lifted out of the pool,, I assumed that the man in the water and the woman on the deck were his parents. I quickly realized that they weren't and that they were trying to help save him, but the way they acted was so loving, so immediate, so calm yet focused. I have no medical background, but I have to say that after watching the immediate, confident care that Chase was given, I can't imagine that there was anything else that could have been done for him, under the conditions that he was coming from. I have never witnessed anything like this before and pray I never do again, but I was amazed at how calmly and confidently those first responders were handling the situation. I've been saying prayers for chase and his family, but also for those people who worked so hard up on that pool deck to help that little boy.
