March 2012: The Year I Almost Survived Spring Break

Great updates, especially the Jedi training one.

I hope the final exams are going well.

Liddy, Good luck with finals. I don't "get" accounting at all, so good for you. I loved Stats at the Community College where I took it as a pre-req, but then in pharmacy school I didn't understand a thing. They messed with our instructors, and we had 3 for the semester; different teaching styles and methods. It sucked. Thankfully, I don't do research, and when I did as a student and resident, we had statisticians to crunch the numbers and we just had to evaluate the results.
It sounds like you are well prepared for all your exams. Have a good week and we will watch for that update this weekend when you are celebrating the summer!

Thank you! :goodvibes

Accounting just "clicks" for me, so it makes it fun. I love doing journal entries and I'm excited for next semester where I get to get more "hands on experience". I hated Stats. And honestly, I've done well on the tests, but I don't know how I'm doing on the other assignments. So for all I know, I'm barely passing ... I just wish she'd post the grades. That said, I'm going to go on a limb and guess that I'll come out with a B in stats.

It would definitely be rough in any subject to have multiple instructors in one semester.

I can evaulate results pretty well ... I just hate the number crunching when it comes to some of the stuff. When it comes to variables and stuff I'll use in Accounting, I actually enjoy it. :confused3

Best of luck on your finals Liddy!!! You just go in there and rock them! You can do it, Water Boy! :lmao:

Water Boy. :lmao::rotfl2:

Thanks Oopsi! :goodvibes

I have lots I want to reply, but I have to run back to work - had to pick A up at school and bring her home - she wasn't feeling well.

Good luck on your finals - I KNOW you can do it!!! Big party at Liddy's house this weekend!!! Whoot~! Everyone's invited!!!!

And hooray for WW... I need to chat with you about something!!! I am back on too...

D~

How's A feeling? It isn't HMFD is it? :confused3 Because she totally caught it from not coming over here and hanging out with us. I miss your girls (and you!)!

Thank you D! :goodvibes Yes. Big party at my place. D is providing a 5 course meal for everyone! And party gift-bags! :woohoo:

I'm not sure how WW will work with their new points system ... I used it on the old one and it worked AMAZING! I lost over 8lbs the first week and lost every week after that ... with a total end result of nearly 30 lbs in just a couple of months. And then I did the maintenance plan... and fell off the wagon. :lmao:

So not sure what you want to chat about, but you know how to reach me.

Good luck on your finals.

I have to recommit to WW today too. I did great in the fall, but fell off during the holidays. It was a nice 5 month break but time to get serious again. Thankfully I didn't gain back too much since I kept up the running but I still have about 10 lbs to go. Good luck with that too.:thumbsup2

Thank you! :goodvibes

I think everyone struggles with holidays. It's so hard to measure and make "better choices" with all the great treats around! Plus, you're with family. There's more important things to do than worry about what you're stuffing down your pie-hole. :lmao::rotfl2: G'luck on the final 10 lbs of your release! You can do it!! :yay:

Good Luck with your Finals!!!!

Thank you! :goodvibes

Good luck on your finals!

Thank you! :goodvibes

Good luck! You'll do great. Just remember, you are the only one that got a 100 on that one test :)

Thank you! :goodvibes

I was the only one who got a 100 on the test!

Good luck on your finals !! :goodvibes

Thank you! :goodvibes

Great updates, especially the Jedi training one.

I hope the final exams are going well.

Thanks Kathy!

Finals are going well. Three down and one to go! :woohoo: I'm just anxiously waiting to hear how I did on two of them (one of my scores have already been posted).

How's A feeling? It isn't HMFD is it? :confused3 Because she totally caught it from not coming over here and hanging out with us. I miss your girls (and you!)!

A is doing OK... She was better that night... surprised? What's HMFD???? We miss you too... Can't wait to see you all in MARCH!

Thank you D! :goodvibes Yes. Big party at my place. D is providing a 5 course meal for everyone! And party gift-bags!

Yup... and they'll all have Target bullseyes on them. :wizard:

I can lose just fine when I set my mind to it... It's the maintenance part that I can't figure out - because I gain it back faster than I lose it - it seems. :confused3

So not sure what you want to chat about, but you know how to reach me.

I was gonna chat with you about the group I created on FB... but you're already there - so now I don't need to chat with you about it. :smokin:

How did finals go???

We've missed you around here! :lovestruc Send those adorable kiddos big hugs from MN...

You're coming to TN in March? :confused3 Glad A felt better quickly. :thumbsup2

Yup... and they'll all have Target bullseyes on them. :wizard:

My favorite design! :lmao:

I can lose just fine when I set my mind to it... It's the maintenance part that I can't figure out - because I gain it back faster than I lose it - it seems. :confused3

Are you using WW for the maintenance? When I first did WW and got down to my goal weight, they struggled to keep me "maintaining" it. I kept losing and got down to a weight where they said that I couldn't even attend meetings because I was "under weight". I was following their directions, and I couldn't help it if they didn't get my points correct and kept losing. Then they over adjusted and I gained like 10 lbs. :headache: The maintenance plan is really trial and error, and you have to stick to it and count your points and measure your food.

I was gonna chat with you about the group I created on FB... but you're already there - so now I don't need to chat with you about it. :smokin:

Ahh, gotcha! :thumbsup2

How did finals go???

Well, there's a difference between how they didgo and how I thinkthey went. :lmao: I'm still waiting on official scores.

We've missed you around here! :lovestruc Send those adorable kiddos big hugs from MN...

D~

Kids and I miss you girls! And I'm working on an update, as soon as I can get some coffee in me. :surfweb:

GRADES ARE POSTED!!!!!!!

I have been super stressing over grades ... I was hoping for A's and B's, but worried that I might end up with a C in one or two of my classes.

Finals went ... okay. It's Finals, after all. I felt pretty good about my Tax Final. It actually felt like the easiest test we had all semester. It was worth less than our other exams though (they were worth 100 points and this was worth 80 points). So I was stressing over that a bit, as that could skew the grade.

Then I took my Excel final ... and sat down at the PC and blanked. I had two hours to "solve" three problems. It's an application test, you're given three scenarios with some "hints and steps" and you have to produce a working workbook for the person who needed it. It's pre-made, so the only data entry is formulas, functions, and other minor data entry. I struggled with the first two scenarios and was completely lost on the third one. I ran out of time trying to solve the third one. So basically, I only did 2 out of 3 problems on the test ... and I wasn't even feeling good about the 2 I solved. I struggled so much with them, I'm sure there are some errors.

Then I had my Stats final. It was multiple choice ... which was great until you solved problems and your answers weren't listed. So I kept working and on a few, I just guessed. Going into the final, I wasn't even sure if an A on it would get me a passing grade ... because I had NO CLUE where I stood grade-wise. I knew what I made on most of the tests, but not a clue on the other assignments. I wasn't pleased with that, but the instructor was great with the material. So ... it was kind of a trade-off maybe? :confused3

Then I took my Accounting final. It was over Cost Accounting, which I really struggled with. I spent a lot of time in my professor's office and him telling me to "stop doing this crazy stuff!" It was really the first thing in Accounting that didn't "click" for me. This same professor will be teaching Cost Accounting, and I've met with him to see if I'd even be successful in his class. I took the final, but wasn't feeling too great when I left. I was one of the first to finish, even though I double-check all my answers and calculations. As I turned it in, he followed me out the door. I wished him a good break and thanked him for being awesome, but he actually followed me out because he had a question for me. He asked if I signed up for Cost Accounting for next semester. I told him I had, but pending he'd be okay with me taking it with as much as I struggled this semester. He said he better see me in the Fall in his class. :cloud9:

Let me state that my Accounting professor gets A LOT of complaints from students. He's very strict in grading, but I "get" why. If you assign money to the wrong account, it's VERY bad in the real world. He doesn't mark it completely wrong, but will dock a point. (For instance, I assigned money to Salaries Payable and it should have been Wages Payable, and was docked a point on the first exam and walked away with a 99 instead of a 100.)

He gives a TON of quizzes (online, that you take at home). But he only counts the three highest grades. He allows students to take a cumulative exam if they miss exam day (they can make up the exam if it was a serious excuse for missing -- death in family, hospitalization, but not because you had a stuffy nose). Most of his questions are pulled from the quizzes and handouts. He also provides a "practice exam" with solutions, so you can get more practice. He also assigns a TON of homework, but he never collects it. He goes over the solutions in class. So truly, he's a brilliant professor, and it's pretty easy to do well in his class if you show up, do the assignments, and study the homework/quizzes/practice tests. His sense of humor takes some getting used to ... like ... day one of class, a girl asked "How do you get an A?" He marked on the board 92-100 = A. He turned to the class and said, "Score between a 92 and 100 overall in this class and you'll get an A." Then he wrote the rest of the grade scores and said that if you weren't as ambitious and wanted a B to score between blah-blah-blah, etc. We all know she meant "how do you be successful", but he answered her question, and he will only answer the question asked, not the question that was meant to be asked. So it took everyone some adjusting. :lmao:

Oh ... I'm rambling and you want to know how I did.

Well, I got my Tax grades back first. I scored a 95 on the final. I had done well in the class and scored A's and B's on the exams, but since I had showed up for every class, turned in every assignment, and done well on all the assignments, I walked out of the class with a 99%. So I got an A in Tax.

Then my Accounting grade was posted. I knew what I needed to make on the final to get an A in the class. OH! Let me backtrack ... I WON THE STOCK GAME! :woohoo: I had the highest portfolio in my class, I beat my opposing (Econ) team's portfolio, our class had a higher portfolio than the Econ class, and our professor beat the Econ professor. So I got a ton of extra credit. But I didn't factor in extra credit when I determined what I needed on my final to get an A. What did I need? A passing grade. So when I saw I got a 96 on the final, I was all :woohoo::yay::banana:! I got an A in Accounting! :worship:

Also, my Accounting professor tried to tell me that it wouldn't be the end of the world if I got a B on an exam, or a B in his class (as he knows it's hard to get an A in his class). But I told him it really would be the end of the world for me. I'd be devastated. I'm a perfectionist, and a B isn't perfect. So he does care about his students and their well-being, as he knew I was stressing so hard. He even wrote me out a study-sheet to help with the variances. Plus, he likes WDW and he takes his kids (who are near the same ages as my kids). <~~~ there's a WDW reference to make this fit into the TR :lmao:

Then finally my Excel and Stats grades came through on the school website. I have no clue what I got on the finals, since they didn't post it on the online site. :headache: But I got an A in each of those classes overall as well.

So ... I GOT STRAIGHT A'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: I think I deserve a trip to WDW to celebrate, right? ::yes:: DH doesn't think so.

I have to hit the store today, but I promise an update is coming TODAY.

The kids had decided earlier that day that we should let Kouga pick where we ate for lunch. So when time came for lunch, I let Kouga know he was selected as the "picker". I gave him the options and he mulled it over for a minute. He was really in the mood for something in particular.

So we made our way over to ...

Disney2012853.jpg

It was right around noon, so I expected it to be a bit busy. I was not prepared for what happened next ...

Once we saw the MASSIVE lines, we debated on something else. But it was agreed that we were here, we'd just tough it out. So we hopped in a line.

I thought the place was really cute. Buzz was watching over everything. lol

Disney2012854.jpg

Disney2012855.jpg

The line was literally out the door. We actually stood IN the door deciding (because you couldn't go any further in). And yes, the line moved horrendously slow. I took everyone's orders (except Kouga's) and we waited in line while DH and the kids scouted for a table. I was a bit worried about how I was going to manage all the food, but Kouga offered to help as best as he could. (He's a sweet guy.) So we kept each other company while we stood in line for nearly 30 minutes. I couldn't find the FP machines, so we had to tough it out. Once up at the counter, we rearranged the trays a bit to carry it as easily as possible. I didn't know where to begin looking for DH, so as soon as our food was ordered, I called his phone to ask where to go. No answer. I sent a text. No response. I called again. I called again once we reached the counter to collect our food. Nada.

So once we gathered the three trays, we slowly walked through the crowd -- snapping at parents who wasn't watching their kids and having them MOVE out of the way. Thankfully ... DH was at the bottom of the staircase. He took one of the trays and headed up.

This is where I pretty much flipped my lid. The kids were sitting at a table, and they had this... frightened look about them. And then I noticed why. Two older boys (pre-teen perhaps in age) had sat down at the table with them. DH was livid and said he'd go find us another table. I wasn't taking anymore BS. I was in a POOR mood from having to wait so long for food and everytime I checked waits for other attractions, they were HORRIBLE. So I was beyond cranky at this point and I was HUNGRY.

I slammed my tray down, told everyone to stay put, and went for straws, silverware, etc. Loudly, I announced that we were NOT giving up our table to these kids. If they were desperate for a seat, they could keep it, so long as they didn't bother us. I wasn't going to make them move, but it was obvious they were trying to score a table for their family. I guess they thought they could scare off my kiddos and that we'd cave. Well, DH was caving, but I spent too much time stressing over the food, I was ready to eat, and I wasn't going to stand in line for a table. I sat down and let it be known that there wasn't room for their family, too. They eventually got up.

I'll be honest, I don't recall what kind of salad I had ... but it had peas, melons, tomatoes, cucumbers ... and I honestly don't recall if it had chicken or not (I'm thinking it did). For dessert, I had a mocha cappuccino cupcake.

Disney2012856.jpg

The salad was amazing! DH said it looked and sounded GROSS, but it was YUM! It had a balsamic dressing, which was yummy, too! I devoured this salad and would gladly enjoy it again! When it came to the cupcake, I was stuffed. So I split it with Kouga (who was dessert-less). We both enjoyed it very much! But who doesn't love cupcakes?

DH ordered a pepperoni pizza. It came with a side ceaser salad and he got the mocha cappuccino cupcake for dessert as well.

Disney2012857.jpg

DD and DS also got pizzas. DD got fruit for her dessert. I didn't take pictures of their pizzas, because it all looked the same as DH's. lol

Kouga got a pizza as well.

Overall, we enjoyed the place and would gladly go back! I'm not big on pizza (especially pepperoni), but that salad was amazing! Everyone else devoured their pizzas. They said it wasn't amazing pizza, but definitely good. I snapped some pictures afterwards while we were waiting for our food to settle enough to venture forth. lol

Disney2012858.jpg

DS had snagged DH's drink.

DD is such a goof! I just love it!

Disney2012859.jpg

Kouga can't take anything serious.

Disney2012860.jpg

And a few snaps on the way out.

There's the arcade down there, but I was going for the mural.

Disney2012861.jpg

Disney2012862.jpg

It was nearly 1pm. We had spent an hour on lunch ... 30 for waiting and 30 for eating. We checked the official app to see what we should do next.

FINALLY! The wait was below 20 minutes for the GMR. So we headed that way.

Disney2012864.jpg

Once there, I remembered, I wanted to look at all the handprints and such. So we spent some time looking at the ground.

Harrison Ford:
Disney2012866.jpg

DH wanted a picture, but DS wasn't about to let daddy take a picture alone. lol

GOOFY!

Disney2012867.jpg

I have the same size feet as Tom Cruise:

Disney2012868.jpg

We're big Roger Rabbit fans!

Disney2012871.jpg

And the Big Cheese himself: Mickey!

Disney2012873.jpg

Kermit and Jim Henson!

Disney2012875.jpg

Hulk Hogan, look how deep his pinky prints are!

Disney2012877.jpg

The #1 guy: Donald Duck!

Disney2012885.jpg

Steve Martin, who did his "feet". lol

Disney2012897.jpg

I took nearly 40 pictures here, so just shared "some" of them. lol We spent about 10 minutes looking around at the ground before we went in.

Disney2012898.jpg

From Shakespeare in Love.

The queue was short, so we didn't get to see most of the displays ... we were quickly in the pre-show room.

Disney2012901.jpg

Soon, we were boarding our adventure....

Disney2012904.jpg

And Kouga still can't take anything serious.

Disney2012905.jpg

I think our "tour guide" was being evaluated ... maybe in training? I'm not entirely sure. I do know there was a guy who sat up front with a clipboard and kept making marks in it. I don't recall her name ... but I know it was a pretty cool name for a girl (started with a "C"). We're used to monotone guides ... except when they talk about themselves (then they get a bit perky) ... but this one ... well, honestly, she got on my nerves. Don't get me wrong, she did a great job, but it wasn't what I was used to and wasn't what I expected. She was SUPER sweet, and a bit too informative. I think she was just too sweet and too perky and I kind of wished she'd hush a bit and let us enjoy the sights. I know, I'm awful. I had never seen a female "gangster", so it was great to get 'jacked by a girl gangster. She did a great job, only, I could barely hear her. I'm not sure if her mic was too low or what. When we got to Aliens, or whatever that scene is ... I can't watch. I close my eyes (and usually snuggle up into DH). Yep, I'm a scaredy-cat. But there was SO MUCH SMOKE this year. I didn't have to close my eyes. But then I began to worry about ALL the smoke and DD. I looked over and she was fanning the smoke away from her face. (Yes, I'm a bit paranoid and a little over-zealous at times, but she was okay.) She was a bit disappointed that she didn't get to see the alien. I was kind of relieved.

We thanked the tour guide (loudly) in case she was being evaluated for a job well done. Just because she got on my nerves a tad didn't mean she did a bad job. Plus, I did want her to do well. If I hadn't been cranky over the crowds, food, and other things, I probably would have enjoyed her more.

Up next: Dear Facebook, there's no way the CC is correct. SRO? This is a first!

Congratulations on getting all A's! I was never able to do that, so I am in awe.:worship:
Good for you for standing up to the attempted table stealers.

Awesome update! Yay to my favorite little people for holding their ground with the bullies that tried to steal their table... And yay to momma bear for gettin' loud and telling them who was top dog. :)

And of course.... BIG hugs for your straight As... if anyone can do it, it's you Liddy - I am so proud of you!!!!

D~

Congrates on Straight A's!

I think pizza planet is very popular and always busy, I know it was busy when we were there the day before you, thankfully we were headed to MM to eat.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: way to go on the final grades!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An hour for a counter service???? I would have been losing it myself. What's with the teenagers trying to take the table? Hello, Momma Bear is here!!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Congrats on the grades!! That is AWESOME!!!!:thumbsup2

I think you were in Pizza Planet when we decided it was to croweded and we weren't that hungry. We went and stood in line for Phineas & Ferb instead. My DS was a bit dissapointed he loves Pizza Planet. We had a Pizza Planet birthday for his 4th birthday.

Congratulations on getting all A's! I was never able to do that, so I am in awe.:worship:
Good for you for standing up to the attempted table stealers.

Thank you! :flower3:

It wasn't easy A's, I had to work my rear off for them ... but it was worth it.

I was proud of them for not getting scared and leaving the table. I know some people frown on people grabbing a table before they have their food. So I was a bit worried I'd get fussed at for it. :confused3

I wouldn't have cared if the boys stayed, but if they had family, their family wouldn't fit at the table, as we took up all of it except where the boys were. :lmao:

Thank you D! :flower3:

Thank you Sheila! :flower3:

I was kind of hoping for Pizza Planet, as I wanted an excuse to go inside and check it out. I was just shocked at how busy it was. We always go to Backlot Express ... so we were afraid we'd just find the same lines everywhere.

Thanks Kathy! :flower3:

Well, thirty minute wait and thirty minutes eating ... so it wasn't like an hour waiting in line. I think I would have gave up and decided ice cream and popcorn for lunch instead. :rotfl2:

I'm not sure what was up with the boys. I don't know if they thought my kids were finished maybe? They didn't seem to be rude pre-teens, but I wasn't about to let the table go, not after standing in that mess!

Congrats on the grades!! That is AWESOME!!!!:thumbsup2

Thank you! :flower3:

What was your wait for P&F, because we literally just came from there and into Pizza Planet. (Well, we came from checking the wait and asking when a good time to come back is.)

If it helps, you can tell him we ate there and it was awful. :lmao::rotfl2: (It really wasn't, we loved it!)

Awesome grades !!! I say you deserve a trip to WDW !! :thumbsup2

Great update ! :goodvibes

Thank you! :flower3: DH says that I don't get anything but a pat-on-the-back. I think he should book me a nice long stay at WDW instead. ::yes::

Congrats on getting all A's! That is so wonderful!

I can't BELIEVE those teenagers! You would have thought they would've gotten up when they saw adults coming. I would have been fuming!!!

Congrats on your grades!

Your perfectionist tendencies are sure going to help you as an accountant! I originally majored in Accountancy before realising it wasn't for me, I switched to English where basically every answer is the correct one if you waffle enough!!

The lines in Pizza Planet freak me out but I really want to eat there because I love the theming. I'm not sure if the pizza looks that appetising though but your cupcake definitely did! If only I can persuade boyfriend to tolerate those lines...

Congrats on the great grades!!!!

We've never eaten at Pizza Planet, never had CS at DHS actually. Those cupcakes looked delish!!

Congrats on your great grades! :)

The one time we ate at Pizza Planet, there was a really long and slow line. I wonder if that's just the norm there? Glad you rescued your table! ;)

Yay for straight A's!!!!! :cheer2::dance3: Your hard work paid off, now you can spend your summer Dising without interruption! :rotfl2:

Ah Pizza Planet...that is where we ALWAYS end up. :sad2: The food is pretty good, but we like to try different things...but EVERY year we get outvoted by the kids and end up there. I must say about our lunch there this year: that cappucino mocha cupcake is by far the BEST CS dessert I have had so far! That being said...DH told the kids that next trip we will NOT be eating at PP...we MUST try something different! :thumbsup2

There's only one Liddy :) Who else gets straight A's across the board, has the same size feet as Tom Cruise, scares tweenie boys away from the pizza table, and says "Huzzah" all the time? Congrats on the finals!
