I didn't read about her dd's hair cut... Whose PTR is that in??? And don't tell me it's in mine... After all, they are all mine, so I'd have no clue which you were referring to. :rotfl2:

:welcome:

25 people??!!! :scared1: WOW!

But regardless of the scary amount of people who will now stand in front of me at the TSM FP machine and make me cry... you guys are going to have an amazing time!!!!!

What sorts of plans do you have as a family? I'm so jealous to not be able to take extended family with me to WDW. :guilty:

Please, if you see us, stop us and say hi! Let our DS5s have someone to chat with. :goodvibes And wow, 10 nights! SUPER JEALOUS! Can I be part of your family? What's 4 more? I think you can handle a trip planned for 29, right? :confused3
:lmao:

There's a bunch of DISers meeting at POR on 3/8 for Yeeha Bob's 9pm set (family event). We'd love for you to come and bring your family! (Hey, it would be awesome to run a place full of DISers and their family!)

But ... It's YOUR PTR ... I was just following orders. :confused3
:rotfl2:

I've not even posted the worst of it ... the hair cut is nothing right now. :headache: Details coming later.

HOWEVER, that said, DD's hair still has length. As long as she works with it, it's not.... okay, so it's noticeable. But at least there's length for distraction, right? Why couldn't she have waited until after WDW though?

Thanks for picking up oopsi's slack while I was tending to DD and dinner. :thumbsup2 She really should stay on top of welcoming people to her PTR.

Just out of curiousity ... are you sure 3 is a smaller group? :confused3 Just checking ....

D, it was posted on FB, not one of your many PTRs.

LIFE UPDATE:
Ugh ... today has been rough. DS's teacher called last night and asked if I'd come help in his classroom for just a "few minutes". This AM, when I was getting the kids ready, I noticed DD was missing ... well, a good chunk of her hair. (Basically her entire "bang" area is just gone, it's cut to the scalp.) She said she got my curl brush stuck in her hair and she cut it out (instead of asking me for help).

Nothing I could do, so we slicked her hair down the best we could and I warned her that kids will probably tease her, but to not listen to them and I'd take her to the salon to see what they could do (but had no hopes).

I get to school and I didn't realized DS's teacher's "few minutes" meant 3 hours. I had planned on going to buy my books today (since I have to help in DD's class tomorrow afternoon and class starts Thursday) ... but it was 11 before she allowed me to leave. And then I had to leave with a child in tow. DD's teacher tracked me down and said that the scrapes on her knee were infected.

I'm not sure when the "Worst Mom of the Year" award will be delivered ... but I'll be here waiting for it. It's just been one thing after another.

I feel awful. I've been watching her knees, and keeping Neosporin on them. When she scraped them, she wasn't with me. But when she came home, I changed the bandage, cleaned it, Neo'ed it, and after a few days, (changing bandage daily), I left the bandage off so it could "air out". I kept applying Neosporin to it. She's been complaining of it itching, and I kept saying it was a sign of healing. :sad2:

So I called my pediatrician and asked them what to do. They asked to bring her in. So in we went. Low and behold, it was infected. She has a Staff infection! :scared1: And the worst part? She's allergic to the medication that treats Staff the best. :headache: They gave her an antiobiotic ointment (stronger than Neo) and a generic oral antibiotic and drew marks on her knees. If the red gets outside the marks, she has to go back. They said the next step will probably be IV (so I'm guessing they'll hospitalize her and give her meds via IV :confused3). I'm all lost and confused. So I'm hoping that the meds will work.

While waiting for her prescrips to fill, I took her to the salon. The stylist said there was nothing she could do, short of shaving her head Britney style. But she said that if she keeps gel on the area and wears her hair down, it could help hide the bulk of it. I got DD a good trim and they framed her face a bit to help disguise it (but trust me, it's noticable).

So ... cross your fingers that the hair will grow back quickly and, more importantly, the meds treat the Staff infection. I honestly thought her knees were healing. I'm so upset with myself.

Awww... Liddy... You are not going to get the "Worst Mother of the Year" award...

Sounds like you just had a rough day all together. Sorry about dd's hair... If it makes you feel any better, my dd cut her hair and her sister's hair all in a 3 minute span when they were little... I was so upset - I still have the hair.

Your dd is at the age where she has probably learned her lesson very well. My oldest dd got one of those brushes stuck in her hear a few years ago - I was so angry, but there was nothing I could do, but cut it out... I hate those brushes.

I am praying that the meds work for your dd too... Glad you brought her in. Just like you, I would have thought they were healing, as well.

I hope you are able to get your books, and I really hope you have a better day tomorrow.

D~

I'm pretty sure it's already been sent. :sad2:

This is ... like her 5th time of cutting her hair. I thought she had outgrown this phase. It's been a few years since we've had a cutting episode. She's cut her hair several times, and her brother's once. The first time, she was... maybe 4, and cut one of her pig-tails off. (Her hair was down to her waist!)

I thought she learned her lesson the past few times! :scared1: I would have been upset with her getting the brush stuck, but I wouldn't have faulted her. I get the curl brush stuck in my hair ALL the time. I would have just worked it out, and when I was so frustrated I was going to scream, I'd call my mom and have her work on it (and we'd just trade off while the other calms down :lmao:). However, she didn't give us this option. Where's the "sigh" button?

I am praying that the meds work for your dd too... Glad you brought her in. Just like you, I would have thought they were healing, as well.

Thank you D. I really appreciate you trying to make me feel better. :flower3:

I hope you are able to get your books, and I really hope you have a better day tomorrow.

D~

Me too! But odds are, she'll be home tomorrow, so no books then. Perhaps the book store won't be busy Thursday and I can grab them before my first class.

And regardless, just hoping for a relaxing day tomorrow.

I went to give DD her meds. I love Target pharmacy, especially for liquid meds. They have the stoppers and the "shot dispenser". Well, anyway ... I went to give DD a dose of her meds and the tip broke off in the stopper. I couldn't get the tip out, I couldn't get the stopper off. I had to call the pharmacy to ask how to remove the stopper. "We just have this little spatula tool we use. You can bring it in and we'll help you." I have knicks all over my fingers from trying to pry it off (or the tip out) with a knife, since it was the only thing slim enough that could potentially fit.

So it's just been frustration after frustration today.

Sounds like its time for bed Liddy  Start all over tomorrow. I swear there should be a "re-do" button for days like this! Hope her knee heals and they don't have to medicate more. Thats scary. You did all anyone could do. Even the doctor couldn't have prevented the staff.
Reading this makes me glad I have a boy and that we keep his hair buzzed :rotfl2:

Sounds like you have had a rough day, Lidian. As a foster parent, I can tell you that in no way do you deserve the worst mom of the year award. I have seriously met a few moms that do :scared1:  Hang in there! Very soon you will be hanging with the mouse and having a blast!

Shortly after I posted, I did go to bed ... only to be awakened several times, with some pretty heavy news. UGH! But it's a new day today ... and I'm hoping for the best. :goodvibes I would very much be okay with a "re-do" button. :lmao:

Thank you for the reassurance. :flower3: The doctor reassured me I did everything I should have been doing, and that it wasn't my fault she was digging at it with her nails (which she made me cut and scrub).

DD has even cut her brother's hair before! We keep his pretty short, but he doesn't like the buzz, and I don't care for it on him either. DH would keep it buzzed if it was up to him.

You have an excellent point. Thank you! :flower3: I know a few moms myself that truly do not deserve the precious kids they have birthed, and I know a few who have had child services intervene. So excellent point that I am far from that mom. I may not always make the best judgements, but I love my children with all my heart and I truly try to do what I think is best. It's not always right, but what I think is best anyway. :lmao:

And yes, I just have to hang in there for the next month and a half. :goodvibes

I am sorry about the news you were awakened with... I hope it's something that isn't too horrilbe...

55 days for me... I know you are a few less than that... You can do this!!!

D~

Liddy if I were closer we could meet for coffee and I would give you the biggest hug! I have had those days, and they SUCK!!! You are a good mommy...you love your kids and do the best you can for them. We are all still waiting for the Mommy manuel to be published, until then we just do our best and hope our mistakes don't completely traumatize our kids for life. :rotfl: BTW every mommy of a daughter has a "homemade haircut" story to tell, I am sure. My daughter and her bff cut each other's hair with school scissors...THREE DIFFERENT TIMES!!! :scared1:

I am so sorry that the last couple days have been so hard. I am sending up prayers that the Staff infection will be taken care of by the antibiotics and her bangs will grow out enough for your trip.

About two weeks before our Wish Trip in 2009 my eldest DS decided that his sister needed a hair cut. While he didn't cut her bangs to the scalp, he cut her hair in the back and some of it was very short. It was already late at night and I knew I wouldn't be able to get her into a salon to fix it, so I called my mom in tears. She was able to fix it as best she could with a pixie cut, but since her hair is so curly it ended up looking very cute.:lmao:

As for being "The Worlds Worst Mom", as was said above, we all know mom's who are more deserving of the title. That being said I think all of us moms feel as if we are deserving of the title at some time. I definatly know I have. I couldn't help but feeling like a bad mom when my son was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. I couldn't help but thinking that I should have known before he was 6 and that he could have gotten really sick. But than I relized that I couldn't change the past and could only do the best I could in the future. That is exactly what you are doing, the best for her now. I bad mom would have shrugged her shoulders when the nurse said it was infected and done nothing to follow up.

This is for you.:hug::hug::hug:

Corrine, I think we all feel that way sometimes. I have those moments too. There are some days when I lose my patience and I wonder if my kids couldnt have been given to a better mom. It can be hard when you are a good mom because you want to be perfect and never mess up and well being human requires a little lack of perfection, but knowing that you love your child and you would do anything for them has to trump those feelings of inadequacy. I figure every now and then we all need a little perspective ;)

Let me start by saying that Murphy hates me. I sent DD to school with a note explaining to be patient with her (walking) and instructions, along with the doctor's note from the half-day she missed. I dress to go buy my books, post on FB that I was leery of leaving the house, but I did anyway.

No sooner than I turn onto the interstate when my phone starts ringing. :sad2: It's the school nurse. "Your DD is in here and she's bleeding. It went through the bandage." :scared:

I explained that the bandage was more or less there to protect the area from being rubbed by her jeans, the blood spots on the bandaid is fine, since the gauze on it was so paper thin, but if it's really bleeding, I can come get her. She said she thinks it might not be anything, but would change the bandage. Now I'm in a panic. I beg her to not put anything on it, or clean it (it has medicated ointment on it, I didn't want it rubbed off). I told her to call back if she keeps bleeding and I'd bring her home.

Anyway, I hang up and head on to the bookstore. There's nothing more fun than driving in the rain, with lots of standing water on the interstate, to a campus that I forgot to print out directions to. :headache: Yep, I forgot my directions. So I'm just looking for familiar signs and for campus signs. Thankfully, I trusted my instincts and ignored the "Take next right" sign, and found it at the next EXIT (not right).... because I was on the highway and not the interstate at this point. (The next right was a road that led to a nice suburban area.)

I knew which building the bookstore was in (out of the many buildings on this campus) ... but wow, I thought I'd never find it. It was so confusing! I'm really dreading trying to find my class tomorrow. :scared: They don't have campus maps like the local one does. Which is DUMB! The local campus is not even remotely close in size, one building (not many), and it still had a floor map that showed where rooms were located and points of interest. If I have to go to the ERC for ANY reason, I'll be at a loss. Not only will I not know which building, I wouldn't know where in the building. So I'm NOT a happy camper. Heck, I think UTK even has floor plans available! (Yes, I checked for floor plans while there, and I checked on the website with no luck.)

But anyway ... books are in hand. My Accounting book weighs (no joke) nearly 10 lbs.

But ... I'm home now, and trying to get ready for class tomorrow, or get called in to the school. (I skipped out on volunteering, which I feel bad for, but I told the teacher in advance and he understands.)

I am sorry about the news you were awakened with... I hope it's something that isn't too horrilbe...

55 days for me... I know you are a few less than that... You can do this!!!

D~

D, it was pretty bad ... but hoping for a good recovery. It could have been much worse, so I'm thankful it wasn't. :goodvibes

I'm at 52.77 days (according to my phone) ... which is
0.14 years
7.54 weeks
52.77 days
1266.40 hours
75983.90 minutes
... depending on how you want to look at things. I like the hours. Seems like a lot, but if you count it in hours, it just seems closer. lol

So you have 55 days, I have 1266.40 hours! Huzzah! :woohoo:

Liddy if I were closer we could meet for coffee and I would give you the biggest hug! I have had those days, and they SUCK!!! Awwww, thank you oopsi! Thank you for the reassurance and the kind words! :flower3: Most mommies don't have hair cut stories from their nearly 10 year old daughters though. :sad2: I knew she'd probably cut it as a toddler, and I remember telling her K teacher to watch her closely with scissors ... but she'll be 10 next month! :rotfl2: She's a bit old for this.

Wow... three different times? :scared: Okay ... I'm making a note to not let my DD play with yours. :lmao::rotfl2:

Thank you Corrine!!!

I saw pictures of your DD and her adorable pixie cut! I thought it was precious! So it worked out for you. She's still missing a bang area, and it won't grow quick enough before our trip. But oh well. When I show them off when she's older, she can suffer then. :rotfl2:

Corrine, you had no way of knowing he had CS. You did the best you could and you are a stronger person now because of it. :flower3:

I usually call my mom and have her inspect things and ask her what to do ... but I am trying to be a "big girl" and trying to learn from my mistakes and my decisions. If it was up to me, I'd take them to the doctor everytime they bump their head or take a nasty fall. But realistically, I know it isn't needed. Yes, I am thankful I did follow the nurse's directions ... but I still feel bad doubting her and thinking she was wasting my time (and money). It really just makes me doubt all of my judgements when it comes to my kids.

But ... I'll just keep pressing on ... nothing else I can do. :goodvibes

You guys are just awesomely amazing! :grouphug:

Hello! Hello! Calling my wonderful DIS friends! :surfweb:

DH has confirmed I can add an OOP meal - of my choice - for the trip. (Well, what will really happen is we'll pay TH OOP and use DDP for the meal I pick, unless it's not on the DDP.)

Okay, let me back up.

When we arrive at DTD (no hotel picked yet), we'll head to T-Rex. If DS can handle walking around, we'll see what the wait is and eat dinner. If DS can't handle the place, we'll either go to WGP Express or EoS for dinner. :thumbsup2

Anyway ... Here's the deal. DH said I can add the 1900 PF that I'm holding onto and not let go of my other ADRs and we'll pay one OOP. The ADR is for 7pm. I had planned on watching F! at 7pm ...

Okay ... what would you do if you were in my shoes:
DHS has PM EMH's, with F! at 7pm -- DD and I would like to go to it.
If I keep this 1900 PF, there's no F! for us, and we'd miss most or all of the PM EMH.
I can add another dinner ADR somewhere else (resort) for say 5ish and be okay.

What do I do? Do I keep 1900 PF and skip F! and EMH? Do I schedule another dinner somewhere else? I'd really like to dine at 1900 PF ... but I'd like to go play at DHS with DD. I can surely find another tempting dinner ADR ... but without knowing if I'd fall in love with 1900 PF, it's hard to say. I could keep watching to see if anything opens up ... but odds are, I won't catch any openings.

I also need to go back and add in prices for the picture packages at the meals that have them (ie Tusker House).

I'm also starting to doubt my Kona breakfast .... I've seen too many delicious food pictures....

So what to do? Do I keep Kona or do I find something else for breakfast?

Ugh, I hate decisions! Especially when I'm already stressed from school. :headache:

Talk me through my options here so I can decide what would be best. :thumbsup2

Seriously?? YOu want me to concentrate.... :confused3

OK - here's my thoughts...

Never been to 1900 PF... So I am dying to know if you like it. :rotfl2:

Can you watch for an earlier ADR there??? We're comin' up on 45 days, and people are going to start cancelling.

I've heard TONS of get things about Kona, and I am kind of kicking myself that we aren't eating there at all, I'd love to try it - but our ADRs are full up.

I'd keep 1900 - until you find something better... if you find something better, then switch... If not - I'd keep it. You've seen F! before, right?

What would you trade Kona for?

And where are all these awesome food pictures... Actually, no don't tell me - I just saw some amazing food pictures from WPE yesterday, and I actually switched our DTD plans at EoS for WPE, even though it's OOP and more expensive, I figured I could splurge on the $8 price difference. :rolleyes1 I don't think I can handle any more food pictures, because then I get to craving Disney food, rummage through my cupboards and find that the boxes of mac n' cheese and cans of soup just won't do the trick... :confused3

I sure hope I helped, because even though I just finished lunch, I'm strangely hungry again. :rolleyes1

D~

I have never seen F! So this trip, I am planning around it and F! will be seen. Also thinking of doing T-Rex next trip so cant wait to hear what you think.

As for 1900 Park Fair, we have done dinner there back in 2006 (so its been awhile) but our only princess lovin dd really loved it. I dont really remember much about the food so it must have been decent. They must have had good kidfare like mac n cheese and chicken nuggets or I would have remembered seeing as I have a very picky eater in my bunch. I do remember the character interaction being good. My oldest told Cindy that she loved her dress and she was the most beautiful princess and prince charming came up behind dd and told her she was equally as beautiful. It was sweet and she really loved it. He twirled her around and pulled out her chair when it was time to be seated again. I have pics that I can post but I really dont want to be one of those thread jackers you are talking about :rolleyes1

Seriously?? YOu want me to concentrate.... :confused3

Yes.

OK - here's my thoughts...

Glad you brought them! Now let's hear 'em! :scratchin

Never been to 1900 PF... So I am dying to know if you like it. :rotfl2:

I've never been either. Everything was new this year (except 50s). So I'm curius to know if I'd love it myself. :lmao:

Can you watch for an earlier ADR there??? We're comin' up on 45 days, and people are going to start cancelling.

Well, yes, I can watch ... but that doesn't mean I'll remember to check daily, or multiple times in a day. I do have a life other than sitting around refreshing webpages. :surfweb: And odds are high, I won't snag any cancellations. I'm not lucky, I rarely catch a break.

I've heard TONS of get things about Kona, and I am kind of kicking myself that we aren't eating there at all, I'd love to try it - but our ADRs are full up.

It was an OOP breakfast ADR. And if no Kona, I was considering another resort breakfast. I priced out 1900 PF for breakfast. :scared1: So maybe not a character one ... since it will be OOP. I just want a good breakfast for us before we head home. Our other options are the resort or a McD's. :confused3

I'd keep 1900 - until you find something better... if you find something better, then switch... If not - I'd keep it. You've seen F! before, right?

I have seen F!, and I love F! DD loves F! The biggest issue I have was trying to make lots of mom-daughter time and hit some parks after DH and DS go relax. So I bank that if we get seated at 7, it would be 8:30 before we're done (because we're slow), and that would put us back at the resort at around 9, which doesn't leave us much time to head over to DHS before they close at 10. So really, it's more about DHS hours (and seeing F! while there) than anything. Hmm... now that I think about it... a 5pm dinner would be kind of pushing it for F!, too. But maybe I stressed wrong. It's not about F! (well, yes it is), but it's more about playing at DHS from 7-10 for PM EMH. Make sense? :confused3

And I won't cancel something until I know for sure what I'm doing. Most of my ADRs get cancelled when I book my new ones. :thumbsup2

What would you trade Kona for?

I dunno. :confused3 There's lots of other options. And even worst case is McD's.

:confused3

There's a whole thread dedicated to food pictures. A whole thread!!!! Yes, I read it, and I drooled over the pictures.

And I agree. The frozen lasagna (great brand) I had last night and yeast rolls just made me want WDW food even more.

I sure hope I helped, because even though I just finished lunch, I'm strangely hungry again. :rolleyes1

D~

Help? :confused3 Well, you replied ... but I'm still hanging out in Square One. :rotfl2::lmao:

PLEASE!!! Threadjack away!! I prefer other people to write my PTRs anyway. ;) (No, seriously, I'd love to see the pics!)

I don't really have any picky eaters in my family ... they're all pretty adventureous. DS sometimes gets a little peculiar. One day he'll eat anything, the next he turns his nose up at it. :confused3 So today he may love asparagus and tomorrow say they're gross. (By the way, the last time we had asparagus, he loved it. He's pretty good at eating green veggies.)

I've heard lots of amazing things about 1900 PF, but I'm not sure if I can handle giving up an evening at DHS with DD for it. That's the big trade-off. I absolutely love F!, so I'd really like to see it again ... but I won't get all heartbroken if I can't.

1900 PF and Kona breakfast are right on the top of my must try list, so I vote to keep them. Kona looks so good and I love to drool over the breakfast pictures on the food thread. I have been trying to get there but we have done Ohana for breakfast instead and never make it back to the Poly. PF is only b/c I want to see the stepsisters, no one unless does though so we haven't gone. If no one has an interest in the characters I would pick something else.

I really want to try the Tonga Toast at Kona ... but the food pic thread ... wow, some of those other pictures. YUM!

And DD really wants 1900, but it's just to see Cindy (which we will probably see at Akershus or in the parks). I, however, want to see Lady Tremaine. And I know that none of the characters are guaranteed. So we may go and it may be the Fairy Godmother and some mice that night. (Which wouldn't be bad -- that would be pretty awesome, too. But my point is, characters can't be counted on.)

DH could care less about the characters ... and DS, well, I think he'd enjoy character meals. He's a flirt. But he'd be okay with anything, and since he doesn't know what the plans are, it's not like I'm snagging something out from under anyone, too.

Wow, just getting back to catching up here....and reading about your worst mom of the year award...which I'm sorry I win almost EVERY day according to my kids! :lmao: Sorry about DD and her knees...poor thing! Hope she is on the mend soon.

Now to your ADR issues. I'm not sure I'm the best person to give advice considering how much I have changed our ADRs just THIS WEEK if you've been keeping up with my oh-so-boring PTR. :rotfl:

I must say we really enjoyed our meal at 1900 PF when we went in 2007. The character interraction was just PRICELESS! However alone time with one kid...in a park...even more PRICELESS IMHO (coming from a mom of three of course). You can do the meal on the next trip! ;) I'd find something closer to DHS and schedule a meal there. :)

As for Kona Cafe...well the big draw for me there has always been the Tonga Toast. LOVE IT! :lovestruc That being said, you can get it by eating at Captain Cooks...and pay a whole lot less. I know you want a nice relaxing last morning meal though and I'm not sure if you have counter service in mind. :confused3

Good luck in making another tough decision. Can you believe we'll be under 50 days very soon??? YIPPEE! :cool1:
