March 2012: Spring Break, Here we come! Threadjackers take over the world!

Okay, let me refresh... The original plans had us driving MOST of the way down on the 3rd and staying an hour or two outside of WDW for the night, getting up early and then driving over to CBR for early check-in (room won't be ready) and then starting our day.

WRONG!

So last night, I was talking to DH. I asked him how close he could get us to DTD on the 3rd and if he would get us there around dinner time. I was thinking of dinner at T-Rex on the 3rd ... or even something like EoS! I mentioned this to him, and he was all for T-Rex and if the wait was bad, EoS for dinner. (It would be OOP.) He said that he planned on having us at WDW area before dinner time, so I started pricing out hotels in the area.

I got a list of hotels (a WDW value with room discount and other area hotels). When I showed him the list, he asked why we weren't staying at CBR. So I priced out CBR for the night, with a room discount, and he says ... get this ... "That's too expensive. Who would pay that for a night?" :lmao:

Uhm... dear ... we are. We're actually paying more than that for the room, but we're getting FD. (Okay, so really I know that it's just a discounted package, and the food is not really free, but I'm saving a ton and that's all I care about.) I reminded DH that we were supposed to be stopping in northern FL for the night ... not near property, otherwise, I would have added on another day. (Then I pointed out that it would have been expensive to add the day, since the room would be "rack rate".)

Anyway ... yeah, it would more cost effective since we'll be eating dinner Saturday night, and we have a breakfast ADR on check out day ... so we'd get to use our FD for "arrival" day. However, I'm not sure if I can add an extra day to our package now that the discount has passed. I'll have to wait and call my TA and see if it's possible. I think it can go either way, but not holding my breath on adding another day to our package.

So anyway, DH hasn't yet decided what he wants to do ... stay off-site or on-site. He's adamant that we'd save money on future trips staying off-site. I pointed out that we wouldn't have access to dining, we'd have to pay for parking, and the price they show isn't always the "final price". There's usually taxes, fees, and resort fees on top of it, and when added all together, it's not much of a savings (and the hotels I priced out, wasn't saving us anything!). Plus, I just can't imagine NOT being on property. :scared: However, in the future, if it gets me to WDW, then I'll take it. But I know DH will make me price out local hotels (especially since one website has a "Mystery hotel" and it's super cheap!).

Oh.... right ... I lost track of what I was talking about. :sad2:

Saturday, March 3rd

So Saturday AM, we'll pile into the car and drive down to WDW! Still not sure where we are staying Saturday night, but DH has promised me DTD time. Kouga is asking to work the AM shift so he can come hang out with us. I hated not getting any DTD time, but I was willing to give it up for park time. :goodvibes

So depending on the time, we'll either do shopping then dinner, or dinner then shopping. Regardless, food and shopping will happen! Plus, Kouga will hang out with us (not sure about Akki). After we're done at DTD, we'll head to our hotel -- wherever it may be.

After resting, we'll get up early and head over to CBR.

Sunday, March 4th

Get up, and if we aren't at CBR, we'll drive over to CBR and check-in for our package. If we're already there, we'll go "start" our package and head to EP for the morning. I'm expecting to stay off-site, so I expect to check-in and room not be ready. ;)

Anyway, off to EP for some good times! We have decided that we'll be taking our school mascot (Flat Stanley style) around the world, so once WSC opens, we'll get started on it. EP opens at 9, so we'll spend at least a few hours here. We'll either have an early lunch at EP or back at CBR.

If the weather is super nice, we may go to a BB or just back to the pool for some down time. If weather is just "okay", then we'll just head back for a rest. I'll explore the resort and DH will hang out with the kids in the room. We'll head back to EP around 3, and depending on what time we actually arrive, we may take our mascot to another country. Or we may just stay in FW. We have dinner ADRs at GG for 4:15. After dinner, we'll probably hit another country, and then back to the resort.

If weather is nice, we may take a swim (again). If not, then DH and and DS will hang out in the room (or playground) and DD and I will hop over to MK! We'll have some girl time (and much needed mommy-daughter time) and do some things we want to do. We may or may not see the night shows, we'll probably just focus on attractions. MK is open until 1am!

I promised DH we'll be quiet when we sneak in. We'll have our PJs ready so we won't have to turn on many lights. We'll crawl into bed quietly and sleep off our partying! :cloud9:

Monday, March 5th

So while DH and DS will be well-rested, DD and I will have to force ourselves out of bed. We have AM EMH at AK to get to! I don't expect to ever make RD this week, but I do want to be in the park within the first 15 minutes of opening each day!

Anyway ... we'll do AK stuff and maybe take our mascot to see some animals! That'll be fun! We'll have lunch with Donald and friends (and think about D the entire time) at 11:15 at Tusker House. I'm still nervous about the food, but I keep telling myself that trying new things is healthy. And since it's buffet, I feel a little better, because then I won't be stuck with a horrible dish! :thumbsup2

After we finish our AK stuff, we'll head back to the resort. If it's nice, we'll swim. If not, who knows what DH and DS will do ... because DD and I are hopping to DHS! We'll grab dinner either at the resort with the boys, or something at DHS. DHS is open until 10pm, so we promise DH we will quietly come back.

Tuesday, March 6th

We'll wake up early to make it to RD for MK. This is the only park I really want to try to hit RD for ... but all within the first 15 minutes, regardless. We'll send DH to grab FPs for ... something. Jungle Cruise maybe? I'll have to plan out a bit better since we aren't getting 1.5 days here as a family.

Anyway ... we'll do family stuff, CS lunch, and dinner will be at Crystal Palace at 6:20! I'm excited for this ADR, I am such an Eeyore fan! (Okay, so I haven't mentioned it yet, but I buy new Eeyore PJs for each trip! I found some really cute ones at Walmart the other day! So ... all of my PJs, but one nightgown (Mickey Mouse), is Eeyore.)

Anyway ... we won't be watching Wishes this night. And not sure what we'll do after dinner. We may do more MK stuff, or we may head back to the resort. Who knows. :confused3

Wednesday, March 7th

After sleeps, we'll wake up early and head over to DHS. We'll meet Kouga and Akki at the gate and then have a super awesome day at DHS! DH will make the TSM dash while I take the kids over to JTA. My guess is Kouga and Akki will go with me, they aren't "dashing" people. Once we can get another FP, we'll grab RnRC or ToT (and then the other).

Lunch will be CS ... somewhere. I hope to ride ST at least twice ... hopefully more! Fingers are crossed that we'll get something new! We rode it twice in May ... both times it was exactly the same. EXACTLY! (Well, of course the spy was different, but that was it.)

Anyway ... DH, DS, and Kouga won't do thrill rides ... so Akki and us girls will do RnRC and ToT ourselves. Oh... I just realized, we can get RnRC and ToT FPs at the same time. I can use ours on RnRC and we can use the non-riders for ToT! I'm so smart. :lmao:

Anyway ... dinner will be 6:50 at 50s Prime Time Cafe! There will be 6 of us, and I'll be asking for a "playful" server upon check-in. Someone better get in trouble this year! We'll take our time with dinner, and then head back to the resort. If there's time, DD and I may hop over to EP or MK for a quick ride, otherwise, it's off to sleeps!

Thursday, March 8th

Another early AM, we'll meet Kouga and Akki at the gate of Epcot! We'll do the Soarin' dash and explore FW while we wait for WSC to open. D will text me at some point in the day and we'll meet up with her! (Anyone else up for a meet at EP?)

We'll have lunch at Mexico. Then hang out with D for awhile.

Okay, so we'll have lunch at D's choice and go from there. We will need to make sure we visit the remaining countries with our mascot. Dinner will be for 6 of us at Akershus at 4:55pm!

We'll have to leave before park closing to make it to the Yeeha Bob meetup! Still not sure if DH and DS will go, but DD is looking forward to it! She's hoping for other girls her age to talk to! (She'll be 10 at the time.)

After the DISmeet, we'll head back to the resort, pack up, and get ready for an early check-out.

Friday, March 9th

We'll wake up and load up the vehicle and drive over to the Poly where we will enjoy breakfast at Kona Cafe at 8:15am. It will be OOP. After a yummy breakfast, we'll head back to TN.

And that concludes the final plans. Once we get closer to time, and can see how the weather will be, we'll make our final plans and adjustments as needed. :goodvibes

So the biggest change is DD and I hopping, arriving at the WDW area on the 3rd, and spending time at DTD. :thumbsup2

This would be awesome if you could spend another night in Disney!

It will just be a hotel to us ... since it will be bedtime when we check-in and EARLY when we check-out. However ... I wouldn't mind staying at a Value ... check it out and explore a bit! :goodvibes Then I can add it to my list of "places we've stayed". :lmao:

WHOOT is right! :goodvibes Wait .. what are we WHOOTING? :confused3 Oh, right. DTD and then heading to CBR.

Sounds like an awesome day! :thumbsup2

Any day at WDW is an awesome day! :cloud9:

Thanks for thinkin' of me... I'll be doing the last of my packing today... Actually - no - I'll bet I'll have had my luggage in my car, ready for the airport for at least a week... I'll actually be pacing the floor waiting for our flight to leave. :surfweb:

Oh! That's right ... I was more or less thinking of you for your love of Donald -- whom we will get to see and take pictures with! But now I'll be thinking of you and you on your flight!

And yes ... I'll have the car ready a week before time to leave and pacing the floor, watching the clock, waiting until I can safely wake up DH. :rotfl: I'll be pushing him into the shower and into the car. The kids will be waiting.

We might actually see you this day... If we go into any park at all, it will be MK.

If you go to MK, drop us a text and we'll go have a pretzel together! Plus, we can get some pics taken and maybe hit up a ride or two -- just hang out and stuff. :goodvibes

Way cool about extra fast passes today! :thumbsup2

We always use DH and DS's FPs for thrill rides that they won't ride ... like we'll use ours for BTMRR and then go use theirs for Space Mtn or something ... but I was thinking I couldn't do that with two extra people ... but since only Akki will ride, then it works out, because he can use Kouga's ticket to score the other FP. Woot! It just didn't come to me as quickly as using my boys tickets. :rotfl2:

Whoot!!! Really looking forward to having some fun here,

Yes, we will all enjoy lunch at Mexico!

Sounds like some awesome plans Liddy! :thumbsup2

D~

Thanks! They are waaay awesome (as DS would say). I just can't wait to put them in action! C'mon SPRING BREAK!!!! :goodvibes

Hey, we'll be in EP that day too!

We're arriving on March 3, and staying at a DTD hotel (the Wyndham) that is within walking distance of the shops (literally across the road, we stayed there last time). Then we'll check in super early at CSR on March 4th. I got a pretty good rate at Wyndham, maybe try there since its super convenient to DTD?

finally caught up with your tr. Plans are looking good. Kinda jealous cause I dont get to go back till December, so I will live vicariously through you.

You know, I don't recall the Wyndham turning up on my searches. Wonder if it was out of the price range I selected or just wasn't showing. I'll have to go check it out! Thanks for letting me know about it! :goodvibes

If you see us at EP, come say hi! You can meet our mascot. :lmao:

:welcome: sl_underwood

Good to see you again! We were so close, yet so far away in May. :guilty:

Think of it this way ... yes, I go in March, but I'll be home with the Disney blues and you'll still be planning your upcoming trip!!! Then I'll get to live vicariously through you! And you get to see amazing Christmas decor and lights! SOOO JEALOUS! :goodvibes

Will you be doing a PTR again? I'd love to follow along if you do! :goodvibes

I am. Think I may start it way early because right now I need some trip planning Disney magic. Looks like I will be starting radiation therapy soon to kill a benign tumor in my brain. I have never started a ptr a year out but thinking planning a Disney trip will give me something to look forward to. Look forward to reading all about yours.

But at least you can blame the fact on being there at diffrent times. I had plans to meet them and was thwarted by a late bus. :lmao:

Sorry to hear about that. Hopefully everything goes well. I am living vicariously through Liddy as well for our next trip will not be until 2013. Am hoping for a trip with a friend in the spring, but unsure as of yet. My thoughts are with you and your family as you start radiation therapy.

I'd start a PTR for a trip that was a year out. I'd even start one for a trip that was two years out! It helps the time pass ... and there's nothing better than planning a trip with friends! :goodvibes

Sorry to hear about the radiation treatment. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the treatments go well for you, with no icky side effects! :flower3:

Corrine, we were actually in MK on the same day. I think it was sl_underwood's arrival day. But they were busy zigging and I was busy zagging and we were all having a blast! We probably walked right past each other at some point and didn't realize it. :goodvibes

My fingers are still crossed that you'll get to make your Spring trip a reality!

I hated missing you guys last trip but it seemed that outside of LoveThatTink, every dismeet I planned got screwed up somehow. A late bus or just not enough time or a meltdown cause toon town wasnt there and instead there was a big wall. Guess thats the joy of traveling, huh? I am sure I will be fine, just need something to pass the time. Think disboards is definitely up to the job. Will send you a link when I finally get it started.

Tink was the only DISmeet we had in May as well. Sorry to hear about your struggles with other DISmeets. Perhaps your next trip will be more fruitful! :goodvibes

Can't wait for the link!! popcorn::

Can't wait for the link!! popcorn::

I am with Lidian, can't wait to see that link to your PTR. If I can start a PTR for a trip we are taking in May of 2013, you can start one for Christmas for this year.:thumbsup2 It's amazing how much starting a PTR helps you get thfough that Disney duldrum.:goodvibes

Just noticed that you started one, Yea!!!! Come on over Lidian, the water is find.

Lidian- Since our Oct. trip I have been suffering from the Disney blues and havent read any pre TR's. Now that it is finally 2012. our trips that are now less than 2 years away now seem a bit closer so I don't feel bad reading about others who are planning trips.

I am mostly caught up on your plans. I love your DH's response when you showed him the cost for one night at CBR. It never seems too bad when you wrap it all up in the price of a package, but once you break it down to the actual cost of one night it becomes:scared1:. Moderates are bad enough, the deluxes are completely out of control.

You are doing so good with your sewing. I have no idea how to sew and was just telling DH the other night that I really should learn. Unfortunately, my mother doesn't sew either. I think my mother in law might know a little, but spending time one on one with my MIL doesn't sound like fun. I did get a booklet from my old high school for some adult education classes and sewing was listed. Maybe over the summer.

I totally relate to the Disney Blues. :guilty: I get them after my trip is over with ... even writing the TR doesn't help much. But :welcome: back! We're glad to see you around again! :goodvibes

This is what DH gets for not being more involved with the trip planning. :lmao: He has stated we've never paid more than $100/night when visiting WDW. I let him roll with that if it helps him sleep at night. Perhaps in the future, I don't break the package down ... he just cares about the end number.

And yes, deluxe pricing is just scary!!! :scared1: I will stay Deluxe one visit though. I insist. However, we'll have to be prepared for the price tag, and look at other things we can do to curb expenses (like no kids). :rotfl2:

You are doing so good with your sewing. I have no idea how to sew and was just telling DH the other night that I really should learn. Unfortunately, my mother doesn't sew either. I think my mother in law might know a little, but spending time one on one with my MIL doesn't sound like fun. I did get a booklet from my old high school for some adult education classes and sewing was listed. Maybe over the summer.

Sorry that you don't have anyone who can help you learn. Maybe you can take a summer course! That might be a lot of fun, and will help pass the time! And you can make Disney inspired things! :cloud9:

My next project is making a wallet for DD. I don't recall if I posted the bag ... I think I did. Minnie Mouse? Anyway, she didn't want the Mickey wallet I made, she wants a Minnie one. But seriously, the little hip bags I made, soooo easy! They're great for practice with making straight stitches. :goodvibes

If you get into sewing, I expect to see pictures of your creations!

Sorry, I don't know you... but I thought I'd cheer you on anyways....

You can learn to sew, all by yourself... Really, I did. I had no one to help me, but I was determined to learn. If you want to read the in detail (boring) story about how I learned, it's one of the first chapters in my PTR.

I didn't take any classes, just read the manual to my machine cover to cover a few times... made a date with an old pillow case, and the rest is history. That was just over a year ago...

OK - I am done trying to corrupt you into sewing, I promise. :lovestruc

D~ <---- back to your regularily scheduled PTR....

Oh and Liddy... I asked you a question about Pirate Leage in one of the various TRs I was posting in last night... when you find it, will you answer my question. Thanks! ;)

D~ <---- Nothing like a good scavenger hunt.

You could definately teach yourself to sew. I taught myself about 18 months ago.

Agreed! D knows best. :thumbsup2

I did answer it ... last night. :guilty: I think it was Corrine's PTR maybe?

But I'll reply here, too.

The Mermaid package was a limited time only offer. It does not exist anymore. You NEED ADRs. Even in low crowds, they still book 6 weeks in advance. Sometimes they can make room for walk-ins, but those appointments go within the first hour of the day (usually). So for three, you'll definitely want to get ADRs.

They have several different faces, but it's all the same package. Every face gets the same items, just a different look, EXCEPT the Empress package.

Here's the deets:
The Pirates League offers 2 packages to choose from at $29.95 plus tax - "The First Mate" or "Empress". All packages include:
•Choice of facial effect (5 to choose from)
• Reversible bandana
•Earring and Eye Patch
• Sword and Sheath
•Temporary Tattoo
•Unique Pirate Coin Necklace
•Personalized Pirate Oath
•Official Pirate Name
•Removable Teeth*
•Participation in a daily Adventureland Pirate Parade

* Empress package does not come with removable teeth but does come with vibrant and bold makeup, plus nail polish and face gem!

Costumes, headwear, and imaging sold separately and are available at the location.

Girls can be Captain Hook, or whatever. All ages welcome (well 3+ anyway). We bought DS a hook when he did his. The pirate actually went to the store and got it for us, and charged it to our bill -- so he had it for pictures! They were amazing and I highly recommend TPL!

You have to buy the picture to get it added to your PP card. You'll get a slip of paper with a code, and you go to a PP kiosk (where they can print pictures) and they'll add it to your card for you. Really, there's only room for one pirate to get a picture done, so a group of three may not be able to have a group picture done in the secret room (no personal cameras allowed).

I've been debating on doing this with the kids ... but I don't know if I want to take time out of our MK day for it this year. And I'm not sure if DH will spring the $90+ for the packages, plus I'll HAVE to get pictures.

There's usually a PP photographer outside TPL that takes pictures (with your card). So the only PP pictures you have to buy are the ones in the secret room -- if you want them.

What other questions do you have? I'll be happy to answer them! OH! There's also an "official" thread on the DIS that is run by a TPL cast member. If you want, I can fish it up. I watched it for months before our visit and then posted a review when I returned. :goodvibes

Thanks for answering my question again Liddy - that was awesome of you! :)

If you could post the link to the thread, that would be great! This would definately have to be something that I would have to ask the girls if they want to do it - because I am not going to fork out $125 so they can tell me "no way"... LOL

D~

Thanks for posting the cruise link.... I am so sure that DH and I could find SOMETHING to do for 2 hours while DD was on a cruise:rolleyes1

YAY for DTD time. I have actually been debating adding a day at the end somewhere because our last day in June MK is open til 1 am. I will want to stay all day but we will want some sleep before driving for 10 hours. hmmmm i am still chewing on that one!!!

Your updated plans still look great (what could not be fun about WDW plans?)
