March 2010 Rental thread?

The 5007160 is Continental Airlines, right? Do you have to show proof that you belong to their program?

Wonder why you're is higher than mine. It must be the earlier week. strange.

My dates are March 6 @ 12:30PM drop off March 12 @ 1:00PM. Using the same codes and also Executive Aisle member and my total is $152. ($103 before taxes and fees).

It would have been $152.69 if I returned the car to the airport. We are returning the car to the Car Care Center. DH does not want to drive back to the airport, he wants to take the Disney Magical Express Bus, and also use their RAC luggage service.
We needed a rental car for the first 6 days of our trip since we are staying offsite at Marriott Cypress Harbor before moving onsite for one night.

I am getting $373 for Budget minivan from 3/28-4/2 using X474200. Do you think it is higher because of the dates?

Also if rates go down, do you have to just re-do the reservation? Are you cancelling and re-booking to find lower rates?

Yes, you can redo the reservation. Make the new one, then cancel the old one. Before you cancel the old one, try adjusting it...sometimes you'll get different rates, but you'll likely book the new then cancel the old.

Have fun in Windsor Hills! We were there last summer and loved it!

OK, but did want to mention, you can use RAC luggage service with a rental car too! RAC and DME are 2 separate things. We love RAC luggage service, but we also like driving to the airport and arriving 90 minutes before our flight and no sooner. I just wanted to make sure you knew you don't have to use DME to use RAC -- RAC is actually curb side service at the resorts where you can ship your luggage and print your boarding passes and still use your rental car (or a car service) to get yourself to the airport at your leisure.

Yes, we are very familiar with RAC, and have checked our luggage, and driven our rental car back to MCO several times. DH just wants to relax at the hotel our last day with no park, and just take DME back to the airport.
Thanks.

Found a new Alamo coupon: AU282SDA is good for a double upgrade on a compact thru midsize car. Now I have to decide if I want to use that to get us a Malibu (standard) or stick with code AD2123JMC for $30 off our rental of a Pontiac G5 (midsize) Going with the double upgrade does make our rate a smidge higher, but it's been going down since we booked and we're still a month out.

Has anyone rented a midsize from Alamo lately? Are they mainly 2 door or 4 door cars? I don't really relish the idea of trying to cram large adults into 2 door cars. LOL

I got a GREAT rate at CarRentals.com, they used Budget, it exceeded any other offer, also found the COstco codes very good. Just go to Costco website click on travel and there are I believe 4 companies to choose from. We have a 10 day rental from March 18-28 starting at Orlando airport and returning at Fort Meyers Airport for a intermediate size was $249.00 which is a G6 or an Intermediate at Alamo which is CHevy Impala for 311.00 just need to figure out how much luggage we are bringing so that will depend on the size....

We did mid-size or "Intermediate" our last 2 rentals with Alamo (March and October '09) and both were 4 door: Pontiac G6 and a Chrysler Sebring. Both were picked up at Alamo's desk at Dolphin.

Given my recent experience, your rate may drop more as you get closer. I just got a full size cross-over for less than a full-size car using the new codes on Mousesavers for a rental starting this Friday. It never hurts to keep checking!:thumbsup2

that is when I am looking to rent car Fri for weekend days...which code did you use... and did you pick up at Dolphin? I have been trying for 2 weeks and can't get any prices with codes for Doplhin...

We got a Budget intermediate March 12 - 22 for $255 with the Costco deal. I didn't have a Costco membership when I signed up. The thought of getting slammed with full rate at checkin without a card made me decide to sign up for a membership. So I guess you could say I got a $305 rate. :rotf:

But I finally get to check out the new Costco in town.

You may want to see if there's a costco code for Alamo, they usually have really good 10 day rates. Use it with the $30 off a week rental coupon: AD2123JMC. (I used the code I got at Sam's with the $30 coupon code for your dates and come up with a $210 rate for a midsize/intermediate. I'd guess the Costco discount would be similar or better.) And keep an eye on your Budget ressie to see if it goes down. :goodvibes

Just checked my March National rate and it went down $50; using AARP code
6100120 and $40 coupon code ND1881JDK. Love it when that happens!

Anyone found any new deals or gotten good rate drops lately? My Alamo ressies for 3/20-3/28 and 3/20-3/29 haven't gone down in awhile. Actually, they've gone up since the last time I adjusted them.

Just wondering how all the rest of the March renters were doing. :goodvibes

We just hit within Alamo's last minute deals rates. We're going March 16-23.
Got a minivan for $265 complete with taxes!
So excited! Used ID #IG and $30 e-coupon code AD2123JMC.Super excited and ready to go!!!

Wow thanks so much for posting this! :goodvibesI've booked it too - but I guess I should ask where the codes come from? Do you need to have the coupon? And if so, where do I find it?
Thank you so much!!:cheer2:

Ok was just able to answer my own question by looking it up on Mousesavers. No coupon necessary and the code is also posted there as a last minute one. Yay! This has made my day! :cool1:

My March rate with National dropped this weekend, by $50. I am now at $200, total for a one week rental (full size/Executive aisle). Using 5007160 and the $40 coupon ND1881jdk.

Wow, this just dropped my rate by almost $50, too! Thanks!

I just used the SW code and coupon code for $25 off (AF4331SDA - requires Saturday night stay) for our trip 3/11 to 3/15 and my final price is $57.07 for a midsize car - that is for 4 days. This is the best rate I've found since 1/09 and I have rented cars 6 times since then!

Just checked National for my trip March 13-21. The rates for a mid-size (Emerald Aisle) dropped again! I'm down to $208 for the 8 days!!! This was with the coupon- ND1881JDK- and the DVC contract ID. The Wal-Mart ones (5000304 and 5504966) were only $212 for the 8 days. Hope someone else gets a little money added back to their budget!:cool1:
