Hi Tweet - congrats and welcome to the group! The only outing we have planned so far is Boatswain's Turtle farm in Grand Caymans. My wife wants to do a Dolphin swim thing in Cozumel, but we haven't firmed that up yet.

By the way, how did you manage to book this cruise without a 10 yr old girl? LOL

Welcome Tweet!

I thought I'd subscribed to have emails when new posts came in but I just re-read and I've missed two days of posts - yikes!

Papertraveller - are you on FB? I'd love to hear your take on the parks after Christmas, we were there from the 26th - Jan 1st. We avoided a lot of the big crowds I think because of my rigorous planning but there were some tough spots! Epcot on NYE was cool, but why they handed out noise makers to 80k people at 7:00 pm I'll never figure out.

Can I get some advice on ehem Adult beverage carry on? This is very new to me and sounds so strange...on past cruises I've stashed a couple of bottles in suitcases so to just carry it right on through at check in seems crazy! I'd like to bring a bottle of wine or two and some rum, vodka...gotta have options. So I'll go with everyone on these boards that say you can bring it right through with you...but what if you are coming straight from the airplane and if I fly with it it has to be in my checked luggage. And if I the transfers to port are like Magical Express than they pick up the luggage for you? So basically once I board in Raleigh I don't see my luggage again until outside my stateroom in the afternoon/evening? I am correct here? So if I wrap 4 bottles safely in my checked baggage will DCL confiscate them before my bags get on the ship? Any suggestions or ideas? Do I pick up my bags in MCO, take what I need out and then bring them myself to the port buses?

Are we set on the 3:00 Pm meet in the lounge? I'd like to join the FE but I need some help...I have NO idea what types of things people leave...can you all help with types of things people have left in the past?

It sounds like my 9 year old boy will be chasing some 10 year old girls. :lmao: Will the girls also be in the Oceaneer's Lab?

I also wondered if anyone had participated in Magic Quest or Wonder Quest before? I love it!!!!! I believe it is going to be held on the first night of the cruise. It is a blast and would love for us DISers to be on a team together.

I've never done MagicQUest, but it sounds fun. I'm up for anything you guys recommend doing! I have an 8 yr old boy and one about to turn 11, so our boys should be able to hang out some too.

Jen

That's great! My boys are 7 & 9. Magic Quest is in the adult bar around 10/10:30. It was the most fun I had on the whole cruise last year!

Oh....my name is Jen too!

Hey gang, I will be updating the first page with our new folks and making changes to the colors for those that are joining the fun FE!

If you don't mind, please send me your first name (and if you wish, the first name of other in your party) and I will update the first page with real names.

If you don't want your first name showing, I understand - feel free to PM it to me so I can add it to the list we hand out at our 3pm Promenade lounge meet.

Don't forget we have a private FB page also - I will be happy to add you - just send me a FB friend request at http://www.facebook.com/hamandayoung

I can't wait to meet everyone.

Amanda-- Can you let us know how many are in the FE group when you are done updating? I am working on my gifts this week and was just wondering the minimum number I am going to need. Thanks

If I have missed anyone's information in post 122 let me know. I think it is still up to date.

:welcome: to everyone who just joined us on vacation.

Erin

I'm curious about this Magic Quest, too!

Lot's of 10 year olds.... any other 7 or 5 yo's in the house? :-)

We're driving to FL, so I don't think we'll get there early enough to do anything fun the day before, but we vacationed in Cocoa Beach last year and spent time at the Kennedy Space Center- highly recommend it if you have the time!

Expecting another snow/ice storm tonight! Brrrrr....

Prisjoyce--

I have a 7 year old dd. I'm sure she would love to make friends with your dd. She is on the lookout for new friends wherever she goes.

We are going to stop at the space center the day before, but will be flying in that morning. Do you have recommendations of highlights to see since we will only have around 4 hours? Thanks so much!!!

Magic Quest is a scavenger hunt that doesn't require you to bring anything with you or go searching for anything. You play in teams and each team is given a number. Then the leader (a Disney cast member) will say I need to see a someone from your team holding a room key and their team number. You run up and each team gets points. I believe you get more points the fastest you are. And, don't worry--if you do not have the item with you (or within your team) you can borrow or steal from another team.

It's a blast! And I was amazed at some of the things my husband was willing to do for the sake of the team!

You can't even imagine how unhappy my kids are that we are going on this cruise without them! LOL! We went on our first cruise (ever) on the Wonder in October and they loved it! They are trying to plan "their" next cruise now...hoping for next spring.

Hi there,

I am not on FB. Re the crowds at Christmas, I couldn't believe it. We've only gone before in August and October, but this was crazy. We stayed offsite at Marriott's Grande Vista, then at the JW. Had a car, and used our AP for free parking, which is a nice perk. I warned DD that she was looking at one-ride days in many cases, since we wouldn't line up for anything that had more than a 30-minute wait.

But we decided it was an opportunity to see things we hadn't seen before, and explore some of the Innoventions activities at Epcot, as well as do Kim Possible. DD loved it all.

Fortunately we also had ADRs, but I really felt sorry for anyone who was sporting the "First Trip to Disney" buttons, because I don't think it would have been a great experience coping with that volume of people everywhere you turned.

Now, on to booze! Disney allows you to bring it onboard, but requires it to be in your carryon. You can pack it in your bag for air travel, and then collect your bags at the terminal. Take the bottles out and place them in your carryon, and then just roll over to the Magical Express check-in (there's a separate spot for the cruise line) and they'll put them on the bus for you.

Last year we brought wine, beer and some soft drinks and water. Had it all in a small-ish hard-sided carryon, and the security guy just laughed when he saw it go through the scanner at the port.

And as for FE ideas, the selection really runs the gamut. Everything from chocolate bars to Disney trinkets to crayons, balloons and pirate-themed goodies. Snacks are nice, since they're handy for the shows. Last year we even received a lovely hand towel monogrammed with the cruise date.

That's great! My boys are 7 & 9. Magic Quest is in the adult bar around 10/10:30. It was the most fun I had on the whole cruise last year!

Oh....my name is Jen too!

I love the idea of having a group for Magic Quest. We went last year, and had a ball. We were in a group, sort of, and had some major laughs. Unfortunately we didn't see those people again for the cruise. Having been once, it helps to know what to do. In one group beside us, one lady was already stripping out of her bra before that part of the scavenger hunt was announced! So Jen if your husband is ready and willing to do the running, I say bring it on!!!

Hi Amanda,

We are Cathryn (me), DH Gary and DD Emilia. We are now booked on the Fury Catamaran snorkel and beach party excursion in Cozumel.

I started my FE gifts on the weekend, but the range of ages for kids in this group is giving me a challenge. Think I'm going to have to head to Michaels on the weekend in search of inspiration.

Have a great week everyone!

My funny Wonder Quest story....

I am very gifted in the chest department. :thumbsup2 So I usually wear 2 bras to keep the girls contained. :lmao: So when they said they wanted to see a man wearing a woman's bra I looked at DH and said I HAVE 2!!!! I started taking one off and everyone around me just stared  Of course they didn't know I had 2, so they were ready for the girls to go WILD! :rotfl2: It was HILARIOUS! So, I've got the extra and I'll make sure DH has a giant drink before we start. :woohoo:

hey Folks, Just booked our western cruise this past week:cool1: and am very excited to be going. This will be our second cruise first was last Feb for a 3 night on the Wonder. It's just DH and I and I am excited to get involved this year. We didn't get to lounge around alot on the last one since it was so short. We seemed to be on the go the whole time. I can't wait to just relax and enjoy my vacation.:cloud9:

I've read a few pages at the beginning... and I plan to go back and continue reading... but I was wondering if it is too late to join the FE? It sounds like SO much fun! I'll send a PM as soon as I post this JIC.

Thanks
Julia

Ok, all caught up! I see a few other Canadians... We're just south of Ottawa if you're not sure where our little ho-dunk town of Morewood is.

We have Palo Booked For Day 4 at 8:30pm and Shipwreck and Reef Snorkeling at GC for 10:15am

I think I remember someone asking about the When is what rotation... I asked my Disney DCL TA when I booked if she knew what was when and I got some info...

1st, 2nd, 4th, and 7th night is Cruise Casual
3rd Night is Formal (Prince and Princess night)
5th night is Pirate Night
6th is Semi-Formal

I'm excited about the dress up nights. DH likes to sew and makes alot of our costumes. He made pirate costumes for MNSSHP one year and then the next he made a Hitchhiking Ghost Costume for him and the Haunted Mansion Bride Costume for me... So he is thinking he may make a Prince Costume for the Formal night and Alter my Princess dress he made for me for the Pirate & Princess Party a couple of years ago.

maybe if I'm nice, he'll make our FEs too.:rolleyes1 hehehe Though that job may fall to me.
