March 19, 2011 Western on the Magic

How much snow are you suppose to get? They said we were suppose to get up to 6 inches but only ended up with 3-4 inches.

Erin
Hi Erin,
They're calling for around 6 inches here, but I'll be surprised if we get half that! lol My daughter is already trying to push back her bedtime- counting on the snow!

Happy anniversary to you too!

When is your anniversary? Ours is not until May 26, but I am the GM of a hotel that is very full most of the summer, so I have to take my trips when it is cold. Which is fine by me!!!
HA! Our "real" anniversary is May 6, but May is so busy with end-of-school stuff, family birthdays and various other extracurricular activities.... decided to go when it's cold at home!

Hi Papertraveller,

We are doing the fury catamaran in Cozumael. I was tempted to do the eco-park, but my mom loves the beach so much, I want to make sure she gets plenty of beach time. In Grand Cayman we'll be back by 1:15, so I think we will go to the beach for the last few hours there too. Is Sea Grapes the best one to go to?

I am getting really excited... AND I go home in 20 days!!!!

Hi there,

I cannot begin to imagine how excited you must be, and how anxious your family must be to see you home safe and sound. The courage of service men and women from all the countries overseas is amazing, and you all have my utmost respect.

And so, I guess, that means that after a job well done, relaxing will be so important when you're back! To save you hunting, here's a link to some of the response I got about the Fury catamaran trip. My only reservation is the late return to port, but that's just because DD and I are anal about being on time.

Yes, I am the one who asked about bringing alcohol and HOW MUCH you can bring!!!!!! :lmao:

Welcome! And just so you don't feel out of place, on our last cruise (our first!) we brought along a hard-sided rolling suitcase with bottles of wine and beer, along with soft drinks for DD. We heaved it onto the conveyor at security when we entered the port building, and the CM there just laughed when he saw it go through.

We asked our room steward for wine glasses as soon as we met him, and from then on we were set! Since we had late dining, we found it was a great way to start the evening by taking a glass with us to the dinner shows.

Oh, and to all those with snow - it's chilly here in the Great White North now too and the forecast is for about four inches, but so far nothing but cold winds. Time for a nice cup of tea!

Thanks for the link Papertraveler! And thanks for the nice words about my deployment. The past year has made me appreciate everything so much more!

I am excited for the Fury sail. I hope you join us.

Snow, snow and more snow here in southern Ontario. Quite nasty outside ... thinking of the cruise and getting warm though!

Prisjoyce- How much snow did you end up with? Thank goodness we only had one snow day. I have a ton of things to do today.

Delgnat- they only do the character breakfast. You will get tickets for it when you get on the ship.

I will update post 122 later on today with any of the new information.

Good morning, Erin!

We're having a snow day today (and the kids are already bored!). We ended up w/ about 6 inches. Hubby made it out for work, but I'll be home all day; our neighborhood still hasn't seen a plow. I'm sure we'll be back to normal schedule tomorrow.

Thanks Erin - there is a ton of really useful stuff on those spreadsheets.
(Probably better than my system of leaving a suitcase open in the basement and tossing things in when I think of them!)

Hi everyone! Hope that everyone is out of the snow and staying warm. I am so sick of this winter. We are due for more snow this afternoon and evening. Thinking warm thoughts of the beach.

I just finally booked our flight home last night after having the prices not move for weeks. I spent more than I wanted, but it seems like the prices are high this year.

Now onto booking the hotel for the day before and the rental car. Any suggestions? What is everyone else doing before the cruise?

It is exciting that each day it gets closer. Dds are so excited and have a countdown calendar.

Have a great weekend everyone!

It has been so called this week and we are suppose to get more snow on Sunday.

I still need to book our flights. Need dh to commit to when we are leaving. Hopefully he commits soon I found it for $129 each way.:cool1:

We are flying into Tampa probably on Wednesday night. Staying with family the only thing we have planned is to go to the Yankees Blue Jays game on Friday afternoon.

I think we are going to rent from hertz. They will let us rent a car in Tampa and return at the port.

Hello! My DD (10) and I will be on this sailing. I'd originally booked us on a 3 night on the dream as our first try at DCL....but the more time that passed the more I thought 3 nights was too short. We were at WDW over xmas and driving home I called and booked us instead on this sailing.

My daughter and I frequent the parks and I am a frequent cruiser but this is our first Disney cruise. I bought the Passporters DCL book and read it cover to cover over one of our recent snow days :) Really looking forward to this cruise.

I am hoping my daughter enjoys the lab and makes friends! We are very excited. Late dining...not a lot of plans for shore because I hoping to spend a lot of time enjoying the ship and the family activities. Still keeping our options open.

Are there plans yet for a meet up?

Jami

I just counted, and there are 21 kids between the ages of 8 and 12 going on this cruise from our board. That is kind of crazy! Half of them are 10 year old girls :)

My 10 year old son will either be mortified or in his glory ... :cool1:

Just noticed we aren't listed for the FE's ... please add us in!

Thanks!

My son is turning 11 at the end of the month, so your son will have another boy his age. I agree, they may not be too upset about that ratio.

Welcome Jami! How fun for you and your dd. My dd will be turning 10 the beginning of March and she will be one of the many 10 year old girls. I hope you are digging out ok.

Welcome jremmons! You're absolutely right - three days isn't nearly long enough to cruise!
We've never cruised with a different company, but DCL sure does know how to do things right.
We're one of the many families here with a kid in that big group -- DD is 11, and very much looking forward to making new friends.

Dundas Dad - I'm glad to see you joined the FE group. It really is fun to come back to your room and discover all kinds of thoughtful goodies outside your stateroom door.
