March 13th 2011 Fiesta time on the Wonder!

Sign up now for this great beach day that is super family friendly!

We'll make it easy and take care of everything, so your only job is to have fun! After meeting you at the pier, we'll start to make our way towards Chileno Bay, about a 30 minute drive.

Chileno Bay is a wonderful area for kids especially because the water tends to be a bit calmer as it's protected by the bay. This means it's an ideal spot for snorkeling and other water activities!

Chileno Bay is nice. On our last visit to Cabo on another cruise line we took an excursion to Chileno Bay to go snorkeling. We took a catamaran out there and there is some okay snorkeling right off the beach. We swam in to the beach and hung out for a little bit. It was not very touristy at all. Looked just like a quiet cove where locals were visiting.

Yay! I love my rep at shoretrips, they put this together for us:

FAMILY BEACH DAY IN CABO
Included in this beach package
• Round-trip transportation is included
• English speaking guide - great with kids!
• Boxed lunches for everyone
• Activities for the kids (snorkel, boogie board and more)
• Chairs and umbrellas for adults

Once you arrive, we'll get the kiddies set up with an English speaking guide who will teach them how to snorkel and boogie board! We will also have a bunch of toys for sandcastle fun! Let the creativity begin!

Adults, we've got you covered to. Lounge on your beach chairs under your very own umbrella... or take a dip in these lovely waters!

All in all a wonderful day, perfectly planned.

SOO happy. We had such trouble, we wanted a kid friendly BEACH, not a pool, in Cabo and for some reason that was nearly impossible! I had tentatively held the Resort day through DCL, I am so excited...love them!

This sounds awesome! Do you mind me asking how much shoretrips is charging per adult/child? Also, do you know which resort you'll be going to?

I'm very torn about what to do in Cabo. I've booked DCL tours for each day, as I'm worried that it'll take too long to tender without DCL excursions (i.e. we'll be last off the boat!), and we have so little time in Cabo. Has anyone heard reports from recent MR cruises about tender wait-times for those not doing a DCL excursion?

Once again, thanks to all of you for upping the excitement levels- my DH thinks I'm CRAZY!:yay:

Just wanted to share..

Was planning on booking our Sept. 2012 trip on board, but the Fantasy is already booking up the room I needed. There are 5 of us and there are about 9 8D categories (large window) that will fit five..it's almost half the cost of the next category that will fit five (4D) and even if we got two rooms...the inside staterooms are more $$ b/c of the virtual stateroom that it doesn't save us much if at all to book two. And we really want a window...so I had reserved one (only 4 left) last week, was calling again to re-reserve it, hoping I could do this until we sail...the Disney rep took pity on me and put an extended hold on our ressie so that I could take advantage of the on board specials but still hold the 8D room...I did not know they could do that...so happy he could, now we only have to pay half the deposit which will be soo nice! :)

Tara

Thanks for sharing Tara. That is very creative planning- so smart! Just wanted to clarify...do we get a discount (10%?) and reduced deposit (half) when we book our next cruise onboard?

Oh Tara, wonderful story!! I think I may call DCL this week and have them hold my room for June 2012!!

It is March 1st everyone.....let's do the happy danceparty::dancer:party:

11 days until we leave!! 13 until we board!!! :woohoo:

It actually isn't a resort, it is a beach experience, and I believe it is going to be $75/$60. I'm waiting for clarification on a couple of things including length of time, I should know today. I could possibly add you...this isn't a regular excursion, it is something they put together for my group (there are 12 of us). I explained my dilemma in Cabo, and asked them to find me ocean that we could actually swim in that wasn't entirely snorkeling based, because we have kids from 5-16, nine of them. One nice thing is this is JUST us. So they'll wait for us, whatever happens with the tender, and we can leave when we want without waiting for others.

Reports I've read from recent trips state the tendering in Cabo goes quickly and smoothly. I believe they have 3 tenders working at a time with one of them being a fairly large catamaran.

Happy Birthday to my DD Cecily!!!! :cheer2::cheer2:
We are going to DL on March 12th and we told her it was for her Birthday. We also got her an Alice Dress to wear to DL for her birthday and the Tea Party on board. She knows we are going on the cruise but does not know when. We are going to surprise her when we get to the port... It has been the hardest secret to keep from her. She thinks we are going sometime in May.:lmao::rotfl2: Ill post her video reaction when we get back!

This may be affected by the new addition of the Carnival Splendor back to the rotation. This was the ship that had an engine fire and floated out in the Pacific for a few days. It is back in service and is on the agenda to be in port with us on our second day in Cabo.

Thankfully it's only the two ships in port that day as earlier in the week 4 ships are in port one day!

Our first day in Cabo however - we are on our own.

Hi Mindy,

Just so you are aware, I read on two separate trip reports that the "Tea" did not happen. I will try to find the links for you. I think it was the last two sailings. I would hate to see you plan something for your daughter and it not be available anymore. I know you were looking forward to it.
I will look for the link later tonight. Still working right now.

What dining rotation should I request? I was going to just let it be and be happy with what is assigned to us. But, I just read a TR where someone was unhappy with Parrot Cay on formal night.

So, should I request a specific rotation and which one? Do I just contact DCL customer service? It is not already on our documentaiton is it?

I guess that means I am out of time to lose that 50 pounds I planned to lose before the cruise. Don't think it will happen even if I do the happy dance every day from now until we leave.

Join the club....I was hoping to lose weight before we left also. Never got around too it. Guess I will have to be careful what I eat an wear my tightest clothes early on in the cruise!!! :lmao:

I am the same way. I have been avoiding trying on my dresses for dinner in case they are a little tight. I joined Weight Watchers in October and did great for about 3 weeks then all the holidays hit. Then we had our big snow. So, now I have gotten serious again but it is a little late and I certainly am not going to be watching my points on the cruise. I enjoy food way too much for that.

I just got off the phone with DCL. I got a price for our next trip. She said it could be put on hold till March 7th. If it was on hold, I couldn't get the benefits from booking onboard. It all had to be done on the ship. Oh well, I will cross my fingers. I know the room #'s we want and the price now. I will just have to get there quickly!!!

Here is more info Mindy, from someones TR.

I posted it on the main board but there was no princess tea on our cruise. We took a ship tour and were told that they had received uncharacteristically poor reviews in the first few cruises and they are trying to figure out how to address some of the complaints. One area they are trying to address is character interaction. Since they did a princess tea and also had a princess autograph session later in the day, it was, according to him, princess overload.

We emailed our TA with our requests last week ie pack n play, high chair, and our dining rotation.

I asked for 2 Animators Palates, or 2 Tritons and I specifically said to avoid Parrot Cay.

I guess we will see what happens when we get on.

I can't believe it's almost here! I am relishing every day as our anticipation builds!!!
