March 13th 2011 Fiesta time on the Wonder!

So sad collectoraholic! Here's hoping you can reschedule sometime in the future!! Will miss you!

for Fish Extenders!! Our list is nearing 30 families...would any of you be interested in splitting the list into Team A/B if we go over 30? I know on our last cruise (only cruise) it was hard just having 15 families to deliver to...tracking down 15 rooms all across the ship and trying to follow those room numbers made us really dizzy! :) I can't imagine bringing 30 gifts and delivering them across the ship..but we'll do it if everyone else is up to it, but splitting it up might be nice...especially if we go over the 40 or 50 mark!!! :)

Here's to a 5 month countdown!!!

Wow! It'll be here before you know it!!

Tara

I am not opposed to splitting it up. Either way, I will be fine. I might be able to do a little more if there was less... right now, I 'm looking at just doing a gift for each stateroom... if we split it, I might concentrate on the individual kids. :goodvibes

I cannot wait for this cruise to come! I'm so excited!!!

I'm easy either way!! pirate:

Oh why do I have to go to work today??? :confused3 I would rather be on a Disney Ship!! I really don't care which ship....I would just like to be on one!:cloud9:

The days seem to be passing fairly quickly. If I put up our Christmas Tree NOW  do you think Christmas would hurry and get here????

Have a great day!!

Hope, it's worth a try. One of neighbors has their Christmas decorations up; toys and lights are blinking. Why don't you give it a try so we can cruise sooner~

I have never used Priceline. Did you bid on that particular property, or did you just luck upon it?

Usually with Priceline you tell it an area you want to stay in, the star level of the hotel, and you enter the price you want to pay ($80, $50, etc.) Then Priceline will confirm if they were able to secure you a hotel for that price. If they find a hotel for the price you indicate, they'll charge your cc immediately and then E-mail you the details of your reservation. You don't get to pick the hotel if you want to bid. I have not used Priceline in a few years because we have very specific hotel requirements traveling with a teen-ager (who can't share a bed with anyone)! However, in the past, when I've used Priceline, we've stayed in some really nice hotels for smokin' deals. I personally love Priceline.

I can't believe one of your neighbors has their christmas lights up!! That is crazy. I am guilty of putting up our tree the 2nd week in November because we were going to be gone on a cruise during Thanksgiving, but....before Halloween....really? That is too early!

I went FE pricing to make a homemade FE gift. I am more concerned with the size and weight of the gift I am bringing having to lug on board 30+ FE gifts. 15ish would be way more manageable. I was planning on 25 but it's to 30?! :scared1: Maybe splitting would not be a bad idea. then it will be 15ish rooms to deliver to. Wow that is a great idea. Alan, can you do this?

Big Red is setting up the lists/names...I hate to throw one more thing on him...I would be happy to split the lists about 60 days out or even 45 days out (I know many families join in the last minute)...I could try and match up families with kids the same ages..or any other suggestions on matching I could do as well!

I keep reading that the Pacific sailings are really cooollll weather..will it be long pants/sleeves on the sailings and then only shorts for the ports? We're trying to fit everything into one carry on pp so it may affect our packing..anyone sailed this time of year before on the Pacific?

Thanks!
Tara

Made my FE gifts already (too excited, couldn't wait) - I planned on 25, so splitting would be good for us.

Ditto on splitting, I have kind of large FE items.

Please clear this up for me, do we only give one item one day or as many days as we would like???? Also, if splitting would it be a good idea to keep one side of the ship for one half and the other side for the second half so we're not running all over the ship? I've never participated so I don't know how it works.

Usually, you deliver on one day. 15 people divided by 7 days is 2 to 3 gifts in your Fish Extender. So if you combine all of the items you would have given daily it adds up. IT DOES fill up with 2 or 3 people putting stuff into it. The easiest way to deliver them, is when we get the final list with the room numbers is, Take a gallon ziploc bag and divide your gifts per room. Place the gifts inside the ziploc bag and put the room number on the bag. This way they are all divided and you just have to locate that specific room. unload the bag and its onto the next. This works if you are giving multiple gifts well. We got this tip from another DISer and it worked fabulous. Heres my picture of our on the FIRST day we got delivered to on the boat. Its a blast to participate in.

I think splitting them up by floor might be easier, it is very confusing going up and down 8 floors of rooms :) If all our rooms are all on the same 3 floors, then it might be easier to split it up by sides....I think 15 to deliver to is quite a bit and extra luggage is $$$ to transport all this stuff! :) I'm considering shipping it to the ship, probably cheaper than paying for a checked baggage! :) Hopefully, we can get everything into one carryon! :)

I also agree with splitting up the FE list. 30 seems like way too many!! 15 would be great. I can't wait. We are actually driving to port, so I don't have to worry as much about making it all fit in my carry on bag. Thank goodness for that.

We did 12 on the Med and it seemed just right...I think 15 is doable. 30 is way too many IMO, partially because of luggage restrictions.

I don't so much mind them being on different decks, it gives me an excuse to wander around and enjoy the ship! Perhaps it should just be divided in the order that they were added? That way, an additional, last minute FE could be put together for those joining the cruise a couple of months out. So maybe divide them up now, and just add new lists as more people join?

I just got out my crafts and ready to make some more FEer gifts. Its going to be a fun day.

This is a great idea:thumbsup2

I LOVE this idea!!!

Packing for this trip can be difficult.

I was on a Mexican Riviera trip in February a few years back. The ports were nice and warm, but the temps in CA were a little chilly (especially up on deck with wind blowing). sweatshirts and some pants are not a bad idea. Although we lpan to wear those on the plane as its easier to maneuver with the heavier clothing on bodies and less bulky items in the luggage.

Very smart idea! :thumbsup2 I plan on packing not only warm clothes but summer clothes as well. This will definately be a mixed weather trip! So it looks like our family of 4 will be using ALL or most of the allowed luggage on board. 2 bags each. We are not flying so luggage is not an issue with us, but what does a person who only is packing a carry on packing list consist of? Yours is smart by wearing the warm clothes on the plane. Anything to save space. Maybe just me but I dont see how "I could pack" all of our clothes into just carry on bags.:confused3 7 days is a long time with multiple changes of clothes a day. Warm for On shore, Cool for at sea, Dress for dinner...

but what does a person who only is packing a carry on packing list consist of?

We're a family of five, here's how we do it in 5 carry ons

1. Each kid has a small back pack that we put toiletries (stows under seat on plane), brushes, socks, camera, fish extender gifts etc.

2. Carryon #1: ONE formal outfit for each, this fits 3 dresses, two suit jackets, shirts, ties and even shoes!

Carryon #2: Swimsuits/shorts/short sleeved shirts/pajamas/underwear for the two girls

Carryon #3: Shorts/shirts/swim stuff for son/husband

Carryon #4: My clothes, 3 pants, 5 shirts, pajamas, undergarments rolled really tightly.

Carryon #5: mostly shoes/miscellaneous in here..we keep this bag light so we can bring home goodies in it.

Hope this helps! We managed to do all carryon and one checked bag for our 10 night cruise in the Med...we really could have done without the checked bag..we learned to pack light and not spend so much of our vacation time packing back up on the return! :)

Tara

Tara :scared1: I can't believe you pack that light!! I think you need to come over and give me some pointers. We each take a HUGE suitcase. We will have very little carry on. I hate to drag things around with me.

Seriously, I don't know how you did that for that long of a cruise. I know, I can use the self serve laundry and I am sure that I will. Since we are flying this time and not driving to Port Canaveral....I will have to pack a lot lighter....I just don't know how!
