March 13,2008 3/13/08 3 day WonderFul cruise

It's easier on the cruise... especially on port days. :)

Taking a few minutes to wash a load or two sure reduces the hassle of luggage.

Are either of you coming in the day before the cruise? A ROCKET launch is scheduled for like 2:30 am on the 13th.

If things go as planned, we'll miss the SHUTTLE launch on the 11th though.

We're staying at the Hyatt and taking a private car (don't know what type) to the cruise ship.

Heck at the moderate resorts they have washing machines. They even have them on the cruise. I hate tripping all over luggage in the room. I do have to admit my wife rarely misses a thing. Except that one time we went to Vegas and she didn't bring me any shirts:rotfl:

She forgot your shirts....:rotfl:

the ticker says 19 DAYS until cruise :cool2:

18 days until we leave home

We are doing the land sea packadge. We are leaving on the 7th on the Red Eye. So it sounds like we can see the rocket ad shuttle launch?

I saw we bring nothing and just buy it all. Well not that bad, a travel show I watched said if you don't think you'll need it don't bring it. If you do buy it there. Now while I say that if you are buying at WDW thingscan be expensive, it isn't Rite Aid

as great as illuminations and wishes are....a shuttle launch...wow.

hope it goes off as planned so you can see it.

Who else is joining us?

For us it's

me :cheer2:
dh :)
dd 9
dd 7 princess:
ds 4 pirate:

we have two rooms booked cat 12 gty...

waiting not so patiently for room assignments!:surfweb:

I can't wait to be there.

I am joining too. YAY!, First time cruiser. Deluxe veranda on deck 7 with cast member discount. :cool1:

Dh, me. DD23 and DS 28. Some family time before the kids scatter to the winds. DS is joining the Airforce as an officer in June or so, and DD going off to grad school.

I dont know that any of them are up for a Dis meet on board, but who knows? We got almost 3 weeks to go. I could probably break away. (actually, I am positive I could, LOL)

HOORAY!:cheer2:

Great idea to do this before scattering!

I know you'll make lovely memories

Thanks, Pooh, I am looking forward to it.

Actually, it feels sort of silly to refer to kids as kids, as they are really adults. but I cant refer to them any other way right now, LOL.

Kids are always kids. (even after adulthood!)

My BIL and SIL meant to do a vacation when their oldest was a junior in HS. They didn't do it. The next summer he started at the Air Force Academy. He's now 23 and they haven't done a complete family vacation. They've done things with each child...but nothing together.

I really do think it's awesome that you've managed to get your kids together. Even for 3 nights. I really think you'll be glad you spent the money and the time. Time passes so quickly. It seems like moments ago that my oldest was born (she's 9). Of course there are moments that I think I"LL NEVER get to your stage...some individual days with 3 young kids are a little slow.

SO EVERYONE:

WHat activity are you looking forward to most from looking at the Navigators?

I'm looking forward to making kites with the kids and then flying them on Castaway Cay! I hope our beach day is a pretty one.:beach:

3 weeks today we'll be getting off the WONDER.

My family is immediately heading to WDW..and specifically Disney's Hollywood Studios. Our flight back is mid-week. THis trip grew from just the cruise to maybe a day at sea world...and now we have 4 day park hoppers and deluxe dining! I would have loved to stay for an extra day but the cheap flights were full.

My only concern for WDW is that our plan doesn't allow for an EPCOT morning. I seriously doubt we'll get to ride Soarin' or Test Track this trip. I anticipate both rides being out of fast passes by the time we arrive at 4 pm. (DS has talked about nothing but Test Track. But I cannot imagine standing in line for an hour or two to get on it. And single rider really isn't an option with little kids. I'm hopeful that INDY Speedway :drive: in Magic Kingdom will satisfy his CAR need!) Oh well, maybe I'm wrong and Test Track will have availability!pixiedust: I love Soarin' but if I have to choose, I'll choose DS4.pirate:

I go to sleep thinking about our trip. I really think anticipation is part of the fun!

Hi all,
We're leaving for holidays in 12 days :cool1: and I'm usually REALLY organized and packed by now but NOT. Good thing I kept my packing list from last year...at least I can revise it.

We're holiday-ing in the Tampa area so we'll drive in on the morning of the
13th when the terminal doors open. So I guess we'll miss the launch.

Hey...I forgot to pack my DHs underwear once and every since then, he usually packs his own stuff now. Or at least, checks what I've packed for him.

Because we are on holidays for 3 weeks and on a luggage diet, I am now only allowed two x-large suitcases (OR if I can, one x-large and one medium/large) and our rolling backpack as carry on and nothing else...since we still ahve a carseat and full size stroller. So we'll be doing laundry every 4-5 days at the vacation home.

That I leave in 2 weeks. I need to start packing our "summer" clothes. There's no reason not to get a head start on that part.

Still hoping for connecting cabins so we don't have to pack two of everything we need in the bathroom.

I am trying to decide if I will have Garden Grocer deliver food to our resort...or if instead I will just put some snacks in our bags. The advantage to garden grocer is that I could also get some bottled water. I'm leaning toward packing it in the bags and using the space after the items are consumed for the stuff we buy.

Qball I know Tampa's a long way off, but at 2:30 in the morning, I would think the space shuttle launch MIGHT be visible (at least at some level) from further away. (esp. if you were in a remote area outside of Tampa.) A candle in a dark house seems very bright. The space shuttle burn has to look impressive in the dark sky.

here's a website with info.

http://www.launchphotography.com/Shuttle_Launch_Viewing.html

If there were any way, I would want to see it. My child has a school program the next morning. She would deem it more important than seeing the space shuttle!

Hi all,

Regarding seeing a rocket from Tampa, hi highly doubt it. I can see the shuttle go up from my back yard in Orlando, but it's kind of far away and does not last long, especially if there are clouds, so I would not count on that.

I am thinking of bringing some water bottles in my luggage, (and maybe even beer). Does anyone know if I can do that?

Oh, and is there a refridgerator in the cabin???????????

a "cold box" chilled, but not cold in my opinion. It will work for your needs.

gotta run my kids to school.

happy day everyone!

Two weeks and we'll be on Castaway Cay.

I just check and we were assigned our cabin number. They upgraded us from a cat 12 to cat 9 woo hoo.:cheer2:

Hey, all! Just adding my name to the list here.

This is our 2nd Disney cruise - the last one was in 2000. We're DVC members, and go to WDW a couple of times a year, but this cruise was strictly an impulse - we didn't make ressies until three weeks ago.

So, it's me, DW, and DD, who is 21, and actually enjoys doing things with her parents still. She's an unrepentant Disneyaholic, just like me. She's on spring break, will spend a couple of days with her Delta Gamma sisters. It's her first cruise and she's pumped. I've tried to nudge her toward the college social the first night, which I'm guessing will still happen, but she's wary of the "cheese factor." We'll see.

We're in a Cat 11, which I'm hoping won't be traumatic, because on our earlier cruise we had the verandah thing going. But this is such a quickie trip, and we're right by the deck 7 "spot," so that's a nice little perk.

Look for Tony (aka Dreamfinder2), Teresa, and Amy.

Hi Dreamfinder, I am Marita, first time cruiser and castmember (well, 35 year cm).
I am going with DH and kids aged 23 and 28. I am wondering about this college social, is this a private thing or a cruise thing?

I am also wondering if there are any plans for any people posting on this thead actually having a meet sometime.

Hi, Marita! My understanding, from looking at some recent Navigators, is that there is a college get together the first night, typically at 10:30. It looks like an "open call" sort of gig.

Amy is anything BUT shy. I thought she'd like to hang out with some peers, but hey, if she prefers the company of her parents, that's OK, too.
