March 13,2008 3/13/08 3 day WonderFul cruise

Thanks for the comment. Jetty Park is not the place for shuttle launches; you cannot see the pad from there and it is a little farther than Titusville. If anything, down there, you can get a view of the pad at the Port or on 528. But Titusville is better and closer.

Jetty Park is the place for Delta 2 launches, however; the best and closest spot with an excellent view of the pad. If anyone is in town for the planned March 15 Delta 2 launch, that is the place to go :-)

Thanks for more input. After talking to Dreamfinder I kinda resolved to a public viewing area. Now tickets would be great but we are leavign in a couple of days. I would hate to find the launch has been scrubbed and be stuck with the tickets.

Thanks Again

I recommend Titusville over the visitors complex for a night launch anyway, because of the water. You won't regret it :-)

We've been moved from New Smyrna Beach for about 15 years, and my memory, while good, doesn't last long. ;) Regarding Titusville as a viewing point, I'm trying to remember a spot on Hwy 1 alongside the river that was a good viewing location we used once. Duh.

If time permitted, I'd snag a meal at Dixie Crossroads if in Titusville. Grilled rock shrimp - glory be. Sublime seafood all around.

For a cruise meet, how 'out 3:30 on departure day at Promendae Lounge?

It's easy to find even for those who may get on board late.

just a thought. i open for other suggestions ...and if noone shows that's okay too.

I sure hate I can't go to the shuttle launch! Sounds awesome.

Its a once if a lifetime opportunuty for most. This is around the 30th night launch, so not many of them. I am going to video and take pics. User name BPcooper is a photographer. I am going to buy one of his prints of the launch do I have something I can hang on the wall and say I was there.

Two days till I leave on vacation woo hoo, 8 days till we all cruise!!!!!!

Well I am flattered by your offer Doug but I am just here to help everyone on viewing and photo tips if needed :-) It's what I do.

The weather outlook is looking good so far; the first official launch weather forecast will be issued Friday morning.

We are definitely in countdown mode, thinking seriously about what to pack, etc.

I need to find some water shoes or sandals for snorkeling and stomping around CC. I don't like the ones I have.

I'm wondering what will be performed in place of Herc. The new Toy Story musical isn't supposed to start until the next week. Bummer.

Let's hope for a soft opening of Toy Story. There was a thread about the replacement show...the art of a story or something. Didn't get great reviews on the MED cruises. I'll skip that one.

getting closer:cutie:

Really? I thought it was going to be playing, my wife is going to be dissapointed.

Dream

Castaway Cay family beach isn't to bad. It is horrible over at the adult beach. Very rocky and painful barefoot, ouch ouch ouch ouch

We leave tommorow after work. Time to pack :scared1:

Douglas, my understanding is that TS premiers Mar. 20. Hope I'm wrong and we get treated to a new show!

Our only other Disney cruise was in 2000, and it's funny how selective amnesia kicks in - I don't remember the Serenity Bay beach being all that rocky. But I have to have something to protect my poor footses anyway.

I remember Cookies being a better-than-decent BBQ. I know the fare at Serentiy Bay isn't quite as extensive, but we didn't eat there. Other than the lack of crowds, is there any compelling reason to do one over the other?

Ok back to 2000 I am going to assume it is the same Island. The only reason I am saying that is I went on the Big Red Boat back in 87 before Disney had there own cruise line. I guess thats my disclaimer.

So assuming its the same island yes Serenity back is very very rough on the feet. Now 00 to 08 maybe the beach has changed erosion etc.

Oh the food over at serenity bay I thought was the same as near the family beach.

Serenity bay is quieter, more serene, get it serenuty bay. We didn't even make it over there our first trip in 06, we did make it there in 07 and it was raining but still was great.

hope this helps

They are still offering the Land/Sea packadge starting on the 9th. Thats just a couple days away. They are still offering the cruise starting the 13th.

Ok my point the ship might be pretty empty? Unless they dump a whole bunch of cabins for cheap to TA's or employees? Maybe we can all get upgraded again? Balcony here I come.

Man I really need to start packing. If you want to see me on the ship I will probably be the one without a shirt. I mean at the dinners not the beach:rotfl2:

I just looked, and there were still Cat. 4,5,6,7,8,9, and 11 staterooms available.

I'm guessing Castaway Cay has always been CC. Sure was pretty in 00 ... looking forward to another lazy day there in 08!

Thats wierd it shows cat 12 still but when you click the link to make reservations it doesn't show up.

Last time in Sept it rained all but the first two hours, my wife and I were walking ot the adult beach in a down pour with a bucket of beer walking down the abandoned runway, I looked over and said this sure beats any day at work. Then we got to go back the next day, unplained, because of the bad weather. It didn't hurt, I think, that the president of Disney was onboard. I am sure that was a big reason we went back

but a window would have been nice!

It looks to me like the ship is a lot more sold than it was a week ago. But it's still not sold out.

I cannot wait to be onboard!!!

And all this talk about cataway cay...ohhhh...and it's been cold here again. I counting on some warmth and sunshine.

:beach:

One week from today castaway cay !!!

Pooh Friday is Bahamas, Saturday is Castaway. Just one more day;)

Castaway Cay is very nice

I'll try to swing by to say hi as well. SO what do you "look" like?
Well me?...like Mulan as DD says. I'm Susan, BTW.

Oooo lots of packing to do this weekend...yay, officially on holidays as of right now...leaving work now:banana: bye.

Well, I bought my "water sandals" - got a terrific deal at Rack Room Shoes. DW bought a swimsuit. She's fretting over what to wear, especially on dress up night. I'm trying to decide - shirt and tie, or shirt and blazer?

Y'know, if these are the hardest decisions we ever have to make, we're in pretty good shape.

Honestly I think A nice shirt is enough. To me the cruise is very kick back. I remember some people wearing shorts and a t shirt to dinner. I thought that was pretty lazy. I didn't pack a jacket, I would probably only wear it once and i was trying the suitcase diet this trip.

I am going to be at the promenade lounge, I am tall dark and handsome, Which translates to Bald, Fat, Glasses and a Goatie. My wife is the one with the Really nice hair long and curly
