amyintexas, we are staying at AKL for 2 days before the cruise. I absolutely love it there. The atmosphere is so relaxing. We will probably go to AK, MK, and Universal/IOA for DH.

Is it only category 12 rooms that can get upgraded? We are lowly cat 11..no porthole, no verandah...not complaining, just wondering!!!!

Is anyone else going to the parks before the cruise?

We booked the Cat 12 guarantee--I'm not sure about Cat 11 upgrades. Have you checked the website to see what cabin assignment you have? Maybe there is still hope!

We'll be at the parks on the 10th and then after the cruise for a few nights at BWV (new DVC owners!!)

Lady Robb - Thanks for the list. I was trying to put one together and kept getting confused. Just an update, my dh is not going. Just me and the kids for a Spring Break getaway. He couldn't get the time off.

We are heading over to BWV after the cruise too! But only for one night. We fly out on Friday. We own at BCVs, but we have stayed at BWVs more than any other resort. We like the walk to MGM and Epcot. From BCVs it is a bit too much to walk to MGM (although Epcot is closer). The kids also like the night time entertainment on the Boardwalk.

I think when you book a Cat. 12 guarantee you are agreeing to take whatever they give you (there is no lower level than a 12), and the actual Cat. 12s can only hold 3 people and there are very few of them. They sell the guarantee rooms to fill the ship and as the sailing date gets closer they assign you to whatever cabin they have open. We had friends that booked the Cat. 12 guarantee and were upgraded to a Cat. 10. That was their first cruise. This will be our 8th cruise, but we have always booked a Cat. 11 or Cat. 10 and have never gotten an upgrade.

We really like being by the Lab on deck 5 for the kids, but this is their last time in the lab, so I am tempted to try booking the Cat. 12 guarantee if we ever decide to cruise again (it is getting too expensive).

Me, DH and Ds (13) just booked last week. We have never been on a disney cruise! We usually go to WDW. We thought we would try something different. My son was getting a little tired of my Disney obsession. He is excited to try a cruise. I've been showing him pitures and deck plans on the site and he seems to really be getting into it.

He just turned 13 in December so I hope he likes the teen area. He loves basketball; so, he was very pleased when he saw that there was a court on board.

We booked a Cat 12 and that's what we got. We are also on deck 2 room 2015 if I remember corectly.

Any sugguestions on Nassau. Not sure if we are just going to take a walk around or actually do an excursion.

We got late seating so I hope it works out ok.

On my last cruise, the group that "met" on these threads added names and stateroom numbers to their list. It made it easier to keep up with everyone. I don't mind putting my on, but others might. Strictly voluntary. I am Angie, my dd11 is Meredith and my ds Will is 8. We are in cabin 6014. Can't believe it is almost here!

OK by me. Obviously, I am Amy. My DH is Gant, DD10 is Hannah, DD5 is Leah. I talk about this trip almost every day with "marlower"...it is good we have each other so we don't drive our DH's insane!!!!! Angie has also helped me out with some great tips for first-timers.

This trip is a secret for the DD's-so far so good, but there's alot of time left for me to slip up!!! We are in 6105.

Amy, how do you plan to surprise your girls?

I told DD11 on her birthday earlier this month. I gave her a small photo album filled with scrapbook like pages that revealed the surprise at the end. She was very surprised and wanted to go right then.

I plan to surprise them with a whole lot of luck!!! This is one of the things that myself and "marlower" are trying to figure out. I cleaned out my closet under the staircase today and moved alot of stuff into my bedroom on the floor. This included the luggage. I don't have much of a plan of how to pack secretly past that. The original plan is to let my 4th grader go to school until lunch on the 7th (this is when we are leaving), and then pick her up early (dentist excuse, maybe??), bring her home with all the luggage packed and say "We are going to the airport!!!" The 5 year old is alot easier to plan around! Then they are supposed to scream with joy and hug their mom all day. That is the plan. But, I'll let you know how it REALLY plays out when we meet!

BTW, you spelled my DH's name correctly on the list. He will be very impressed!
